Good morning everyone!

My favorite system has become Basic Fantasy RPG. I'd like to offer an adventure for 4-5 players starting at level using this system. It's an elegant, light, yet robust system that is available for free here. Print copies are available for under $5.

The story will begin in the town of Dale where you are called upon by the mayor to help locate a missing person. From there all sorts of interesting things will happen.

Posting requirements would be once every two days during the week at a minimum. As always, if you need to leave for an extended time please let us know and if you are unhappy with anything in the game, message me and I will do everything I can to address your issue.

I'm looking forward to running this game!

I've been aware of this system for a while now, but have yet to try it, let alone read it...
But hey, I'm always willing to give it a try. I'm always looking for more books to print at my job. :P

I've also been intrigued about this game for awhile. It has a pretty impressive following, support, and I read a lot of reviews that laud this game. I even own a (digital) copy, but haven't been able to play.

Well roll up some characters and have some fun! Start at first level. You can do 4d6 drop one and assign them as you see fit. I know that is against the spirit of BFRPG but it will get us started sooner.

They do 3d6 straight down?

It does. They have a rule that says you can add the modifiers for all of the attributes and if the number is negative the character is most likely hopeless and one rolls again.

I think 4d6 drop 1 only gives a minor advantage.

Yeah, just as I thought. It is a retroclone after all... Yeah, 4d6, drop the lowest does grant some chance.
I had a nice idea when doing my Ravenloft game converted to Pathfinder, it was 4d6, drop the lowest, straight down. You can reroll 1 attribute score, and then you can switch two. It does allows you to make the type of character you want to do, but there are still some restriction, and you might end up with a character who will have to find a way to overcome a low attribute which he might not have necessarily have had you placed all your attribute where you wanted them to be...

That's one I've seen before and really like. It allows you to make your own character, but doesn't force the dump stats on you like point-buy, array, and other methods do.

A low attribute makes for some really interesting character development during the game. It's a delicate balance though if you are playing a game where everyone is min/maxing stats. I don't really go for that type of game myself but that is the beauty of this hobby; find a game that fits you and enjoy!

Well, you are in my Ravenloft game in which I used that method. :P

Are you going to be using The Olde Dungeoneer's Almanach/the laytest documents? Because I'd be interested in a barbarian personally...

If the supplements are listed as 'play tested' I am fine with it. Barbarian could be interesting given the story background.

How do I determine if a supplement has been play-tested? Check the comments if anyone has played a barbarian in their game and what they have to say about it?

Similar to others I have a copy of the rules, but never played. I'd love to give it a go. Do you want us to roll up on this thread?

In the download section it usually has play tested put across the image of the pdf. I just checked and it is play tested. Go ahead and roll it up!

Actually, it says "playtest edition"...

That works for me. Let's see how it runs.

I can't seem to access the forum, is anyone else having a problem?

No, you're not the only one.
