Dead in the Water

With BF's help, and the door open, Shayna gags. The gore and blood everywhere seems like a sure way to get any number of illnesses, the most pressing of which is Walkeritis. "This isn't a great idea. Anyone bring a gallon of Mr. Clean? Or bleach?"

sounds like the gunk blocking the doors was a year old? So the gore also, could be old and dried? this seems the scene of ooold violence

Billie frowns at the scene inside the wrecked helo. "Uhgh. Fuckin’ gross. What are our options, though? We can’t just camp in the open…"
OOC:
Survival roll to find a better campsite, perhaps?

How old does the track seem?
OOC:
Great question! All of this stuff seems pretty old! Old enough that some of the foxholes are being reclaimed by growth and the like. Same with the driven path through the dirt!

Definitely didn’t happen yesterday! Months, at least!

"Hmm... better find somewhere else, to spend the night..."

He looks up at the towering copter carcass, that reaches quite high even in its crunched, wrecked state. Looking for handholds he climbs up at the top, finds a flat surface to stand safely and starts scanning all around at 360 degrees through his binoculars.
OOC:
6d6 here? but... stressful

Rolls

Been struggling to be productive on all fronts! I’ve been sorting schools back home for my kids next year, getting middle names added to their names, interviewing for work here in Korea and trying to get through the days! :D

Post incoming soon!

Take care of yourself first, we're patient folks and will jump back in when you've got firm footing.

While the thing was alive, Owen would have been diced in a second had he ever tried to put a foot to a helicopter’s blade.

Now, he tentatively climbs up the ruined bird! He balances himself where the four blades meet, carefully stepping and stepping again as he scans the area 360 to try and spot a place to bed down for the night! Preferably one that doesn’t stink of burst humans!

The haze is really taking hold now, but Owen squints against the low resolution of the trees. He thinks he sees a cabin a ways off and in the opposite direction of the drag marks the group had spotted by the helicopter. The cabin seems to appear and disappear in the gloom, and the young man has to focus hard to keep the thing in sight!

You set off, keen to be out of the open and secure before nightfall. Owen goes about the hard work of keeping the path straight and the group aimed directly at the small cabin! The boxes, if you chose to carry some, make the last journey of the day an arduous one!

You arrive, and Owen was right! A small cabin, in an almost equally as small clearing! Before you meet the place properly, you’re greeted with a gruesome, bloated and sorry sight. A corpse hangs from a tree on the approach to the cabin. You can’t help but notice that all of the meat on the body’s feet and lower legs has been chewed clean by walkers that must have passed this way at some point. Two bony feet, slick with dark red gore, and eight skeletal digits must be passed to get to the front door of your night’s shelter!

Painted across the front of the place are the words:

Everything is FUCKED!!

Dropping one of the boxes she’s been helping to lug, Billie-Faye grimaces at the sight of the meat piñata and the scrawled red words on the cabin. "Might not be any better here than inside that chopper," she says to Shayna quietly, but then her axe is out and she’s exploring, checking on the building. Looking for signs of walkers or other survivors, ways in, all that…

Whoever this man was, he had closed the door fast behind him as he left to go do the grisly business you see before you!

The inside of the cabin is dark, and quiet. You don’t hear anything moving about behind the front door of the wooden structure!

OOC:
Wait, what grisly business and what man? The hanging / half-eaten man?
Nov 23, 2024 5:27 pm
OOC:
I think the grisly business is the suicide by hanging. The man closed the door , wrote the painted words, and hung himself

None too keen on spending time in the cramped, disgusting confines of the chopper, Richard was glad that the plans had changed and thankful that Owen had good vision. Greeted by the hideous site at the cabin, he reiterated Billy-Faye's reaction.

"Uch! Yeah. Could be just as bad in there." Chuckling at the sentence painted across the cabin, he hisses, "Ya think? We've been fucked from the get-go. What's new. I'm going in, folks. No point guessing what's inside."

Pistol in hand, Richard approaches the door and pries it open slowly with a worn boot. He is almost disappointed when nothing jumps out at him.

"Seems ok," he shouts to the others, "but I can't see. Someone bring a light."

Shayna expected that this cabin was not going to be some grand hotel filled with creature comforts or even safety. She goes along with it because giving up is no way to live. The Walker pinata is a gruesome reminder that there is no relief from nightmare. She lowers the case she's been dragging, and wipes sweat from her brow.

"Knock on the door, see if anyone answers. Especially the moaning and scratching kind. "

Shayna watches Richard open the door anyway.

Ah, I didn't want to presume the hanging dude was the occupant. Also, I think was tired.

Holding fire on posting until we see if Richard just got eaten or not...
