Coming up along side Krissana he noticed her pick something up out of the dirt and his curiosity was peaked as she lifts up a helmet. "What have you found there?" he asked as he moved to take a better look.

Myth & Legends check - (1d20+10)

(17) + 10 = 27

Bastonn grabs the rope offered by Orla and begins tying the other end around his own waist. "Let us wait to see if Aodhan sees anything down there before you descend. Wouldn’t want to lower you down into the open maw of some hungry beast waiting for a free meal," he adds with a toothy grin.
Jul 25, 2024 2:23 pm
As Krissana examines the helmet, something crosses her mind that seems to fit: Orcs. This helmet was forged by orcs! The crude shape, the overabundance of spikes, the fact that is is still functional after who knows how many generations?!
Jul 26, 2024 12:14 am
Aodhan gets down real low, looking into the hole as if it’s pulling him in. Everyone around can hear the old man mumbling to himself. Something about "these kids" and "no patience".

"Ah yes, I believe it’s becoming clearer…or foggier. My eyes don’t work like they used too. Well I tell ya…I used to have impeccable vision, like an owl in the night I tell ya…"

Balthazar says:
Coming up along side Krissana he noticed her pick something up out of the dirt and his curiosity was peaked as she lifts up a helmet. "What have you found there?" he asked as he moved to take a better look.
"I'm fairly certain it's an old orc helmet. Useless junk to me, maybe you could use it?" She offers the helmet to Makander with a smile assuming an old dirty helm like this is probably beneath someone like him.
Jul 26, 2024 12:43 pm
Unfortunately, Aodhan can't quite pick out any details of what lies in that dank hole! It clearly opens to some large lower level full of rubble, but that is the limit that he can determine.
OOC:
If Makander wants to wear the helmet, it gives +1 Armor and Bane on Awareness.
Jul 27, 2024 4:20 am
As Bastonn waits to hear Aodhan’s report of what lies at the bottom of the hole, he pulls out his unlit torch and hands it to Orla. "Just in case. If you do end up going down there, you’re going to need light."
Jul 27, 2024 8:11 am
OOC:
[ +- ] That' her usual behaviour
Besides she has the torch, should it be necessary, but I just don't see it necessary so close to daylight, is it?
Anyhow, referring to rule if multiple player characters are in the same place, each of you makes a separate AWARENESS roll
Orla disappears into the hole even before Bastonn finishes his sentence. She is descending slowly and carefully, waiting for ayes to adapt to less light and watching down there

The chamber below is large, easily the same width and depth as the keep itself. Though daylight streams down through the hole, it does not spread out far enough to illuminate the room. It is damp and smells of earth. The floor upon which Orla lands is covered in rubble Barrels line the eastern wall, extending out past the torchlight. The southern part of the room, in which Orla finds herself, has several alcoves; many of these contain sleeping goblins, not yet aware of your presence.
OOC:
GreyWord, I need an Acrobatics check from you. The hole is 4 meters deep, and being safe reduces the damage that might come with a failure.

I also need a Sneaking to avoid alerting the goblins!

Don't forget that you can push your roll (reroll) by taking conditions, so long as you can justify them.
Jul 27, 2024 8:15 pm
OOC:
two rolls requested

Rolls

Acrobatics 14 - (1d20)

(6) = 6

Sneaking 14 - (1d20)

(15) = 15

Jul 27, 2024 8:33 pm
OOC:
That's a success on the Acrobatics, meaning no damage! But a failure on the Sneaking. Would you like to push your roll?
Jul 27, 2024 8:55 pm
OOC:
Trying to figure out how to "justify them". Does it work like this: I choose Scared and narrate:
Orla moves down with an ease, but slows down every feet she takes. She is so scared by the moment she descends that she is hold even her breath

Rolls

Push - (1d20)

(17) = 17

Well now, this story has taken an interesting turn! Orla descends into the darkness and, upon finding her footing, sparks up a torch. And finds a goblin face staring at her. The face, eyes closed, does not move for some time... It must be asleep! Letting out a sigh of relief, her breath tickles the goblins nose hairs.

The eyes snap open.

A bark of surprise from this creature is all it takes for the other five pairs of eyes to open in shock. Still in their beds and still processing what is happening, they are caught unawares. What do you do?
OOC:
We are entering initiative! The surprise rules state that since the goblins were surprised, you get to choose your initiative order. Everyone here will act before the goblins, and in no particular order. You all have ten seconds. Go.
Jul 27, 2024 9:27 pm
OOC:
Bastonn is anchoring the rope so you all feel free to go down first and I’ll try to find a way in. Bastonn might have to roll a strength check when Makander goes down the rope because of his plate mail, though.
Jul 28, 2024 6:48 am
Nightkin! Orla announce with a deep hatred in her voice. Ignoring the fact she is one against five she draws her knife and try to cut goblin's throat.
OOC:

I know, it would be smarter to try to retreat, but I've got a weakness on my PC

Rolls

Knives (14) - (1d20)

(15) = 15

Hearing Orla's outcry Krissana quickly draws her dagger and holds it in her mouth as she grabs on to the rope to slide down and give aid to her companion. Upon landing and realizing the situation is a bit more dire than she thought, and assuming her friend is in imminent danger, she immediately and swiftly strikes at one of the waking goblins.
OOC:
If Krissana has enough movement then upon landing down amongst Orla she will find the closest foe and strike with her dagger.

Dagger Slash on closest foe - (1d20)

(11) = 11

Jul 28, 2024 3:41 pm
OOC:
On your turns, you get to move and to act. You have a number of meters of movement equal to your movement stay.
You can also make an attack OR defend against an attack. So, you can all make it down and attack, though Bastonn will need to jump down.

Technically nobody had a rope, but since it ended up in the narrative I'll need someone to buy it for one gold. I see Makander has ten silver, which is enough.

ooc: sold! I worked 24 hr shift yesterday... only 2 hrs of sleep... will try to get a post out in next few hours

Seeing the goblins wake at the light of the torch Aodhan frowns and readies his staff

"Well that’s certainly not good…"

He’ll cast gust of wind at the racks of beds from above, hopefully creating more distance between them and Orla. He’ll then go down last, knowing he’ll be slow to descend compared to the others.
OOC:
The range is 10 meters, so let me know if the distance is to great I’ll fix. I’m imagining the beds being right in front of Orla.

OOC:
The goblins have made beds in alcoves in the wall. Think cubbies, though likely originally for deceased bodies. You can absolutely use it to push Orla away!
