"No, nothing of value. Just a butterly pendant as far as I can recall," Father Zantus replies with a worried expression. "No reason anyone would want them."

Sheriff Belor Hemlock

The sheriff pinches the bridge of his nose. "No use looking for sense in a goblin's actions. But we have the goblin you captured yesterday. He should have woken up by now, maybe it can give us some answers."

At this moment Li joined the gathered group. Quick glance around, seeing Saldrina healed by father Zantus, broken bones after skeletons and... Li already knew what happened there.

Very interested in what was the cause of all of this, without any introductions and saying hello, Li joined them and said to Grimwulf:
"Walking in: I saw you were examining some tracks. Do you know where they lead, friend?"

Then he look at the 'battle scene' with his fresh and uninvolved eyes and tries to find anything that someone entering the tomb could still notice.

"Do you happen to know the significance of the butterfly necklace? It might not mean much, but any information helps," the half-orc grumbles in his deep voice. "It seems clear they were after the body itself, I would bet. Necromancy?" Chakra gives a little bark in agreement. Or perhaps annoyance that a tomb lacks a single bone for her to chew.

Khel turned to Li and smiled, "So far no lead yet. Goblins broke into the sarcophagus of the late Father Tobyn and I don't know if it was the goblins but someone used necromancy to raise skeletons up. Found this part of enchanted robe with lingering magical essence." He gave the patch of cloth to Li so that he could examine it.

"Too bad Grim..." - said Li already completely absorbed in examining the robe, looking for anything more that could provide them with some leads. Then he looked around the tomb:
"But... ! They entered it, maybe raised the skeletons and then what? They had to have some purpose in here. How big is this complex or is it only this chamber?"

As I'm not sure if it was only one room, or there are passageways deeper into catacombs or something like that? Or more catacombs there on cemetery?

"The butterfly is Desna's symbol," Father Zantus replies to Chigaru. "It is a common tradition to bury the followers of Desna with a butterfly pendant. Symbolizing the butterfly guiding them to the afterlife. But nothing magical or special as far as I can recall."

He looks at the robe. "No, if what you're saying is true," he continues in reply to Wess. "That it is a robe to summon skeletons, I would have had it destroyed and not buried with my predecessor."

There are a few mausoleums, all of them with just one room (or at least sized for one room). None of the other mausoleums have been broken into, or show signs of being disturbed.

Examining the robe Li is able to find a hair stuck to the lapel. It is dark hair, you guess it is around 10-12 inches long. You also know that goblins isn't known for their magnficient manes. The robe is sized for a medium sized individual.

"Huh! Thats interesting." - Li takes out the hair, hang it in the air above gathered, so others could take a look - "Maybe goblins are not so common in Minkai, but I'm pretty sure they are not known mostly by their hair dressers culture." - Li takes the hair and carefully pack it in one of many pockets at the inner side of his black robe, wrapping it in snow-white handkerchief before.

Then return his focus onto Father Zantus shaking a little the robe he is still holiding in his hands:
"Two questions. First for our noble Father and magic users in our group: do you have any ideas who could be able to make such necromancy robe? Any known necromancer in the nearby area? Such artifact requires a grand master in the arts or it's not so hard to make such thing - when you know what are you doing?" - he looked with great tensions at everyone gathered.

"Second - you think that this hair or robe could help us track the culprit? By traditional means like, indeed some dog with great smell" - Li looked inquisitively at Chakra - "or by any magical means?" - Li met his eyes with Khel's.

Also it would be wonderful oportunity to introduce someone that knows some Alchemy in the town, and could help - by sicence/alchemy to determine to whom the hair belongs! :) If GM and others also find it interesting. Li would gladly go to his/her lab for this:)

Father Zantus shrugs. "I wouldn't even know," he says shaking his hand. "If there's anyone doing such foul things, it's not something they are advertising. Not around priests of Desna at least."

"I have heard of such magic that can locate a person, but I am afraid it is beyond my meager abilities," Father Zantus downplays his own spellcasting, considering he just closed a fresh wound. "Perhaps Madame Mvashti. She is a seer after all. One with a reputation."

Sheriff Belor Hemlock

The sheriff nods his head when Zantus mentions Madme Mvashti. "She's..." he chooses his words carefully. "She's a handful, but her skill is unquestionable."

He thinks for a moment. "And then there's Brodert Quink. He's a scholar and alchemist. He's... also a handful. I doubt he's the robes creator, but he may know more of its origins."

Khel was surprised to see the hair but it meant that the investigation was going somewhere. After listening to Li he replied, "Enchanting a magical device such as this robe is not a mere feat. It needs special training and skill to enchant magical items. As for the spell of necromancy, I don't know what academies of Varisia feel about. It is topic of debate but many schools shun their practice, many more study them to understand the fundamentals of the magic and how to fight it. If the robe was crafted then it must have been a necromancer or one with potent skills of necromancy to achieve this. As for other spells to track the culprit from the robe, I am unfortunately not practiced with it. I have never focused much on Divination studies but if we can find a spell scroll, I can study it and learn the intricacies of it. Then I will definitely be able to use it. For now though, I won't be that much of a help here."

Khel raised his eyebrows when he heard the names. "I have been planning to meet them in order to learn about the history of this place. This will be a good opportunity." He turned to Wess and said, "We should probably split up, that will save us time."

This all makes sense as far as Chigaru understands it, which isn't much when it comes to magic. If you all want to find out more about the magic stuff, I can interrogate the captured goblin," the half-orc suggests.

I'll take the robe to this Quink guy. See what he can tell us. Who is handling the hair? Wess ask as he carefully gathers up the robe.
