Chigaru shrugs as Grim and the young woman walk away. "Well, I tried. Let's be off then."

Arriving at the Rusty Dragon, Chigaru gives a small monk bow to Ameiko. "Indeed he did. And it was good he called us for there were some skeletons lying in wait withing the crypt. We actually came here to talk with you. We interrogated one of the goblins we captured and it mentioned that one of the people behind this attack was a half-elf who used to live here but not for many years. Would you know who would match that description?"
Aug 30, 2024 8:10 am
"From other sources we have some indications that he or she had a lot of grief in them..." - Li added, also bowing in greeting and turning his inquisitive gaze full on Ameiko.
Aug 30, 2024 9:10 am
Khel bowed to Ameiko and listened on after all the information was given to her by others. "This particular individual might have a role on the problems that father Zantus faced."

The Rusty Dragon

Ameiko Kaijitsu
"Tsuto..." is all she replies, lifting a hand to cover her mouth.

Once she's gotten a moment to compose herself. "It sounds like my half-brother. But he swore he would never return."

She leans on the bar, shaking her head. "We had an argument during our mother's funeral. He wanted me to come with him to leave town. I refused. I had just bought this place. Finally ready to settle down."

"He was angry I'll admit. But angry enough to ally with goblins and raid the town?"

The Shopkeeper's Daughter

Shayliss Vinder
Shayliss smiles at you. "Silly you. The cat and the traps can deal with the rats. I just wanted to get a private meeting with one of the heroes of Sandpoint."
OOC:
Grimwulf, give me a Notice roll

Grim slowly smiles as he hears Shayliss's explanation for being brought down here, "Oh, what would you like to talk about?"

Saldrina narrows her eyes. "Anger makes for strange bedfellows," she replies.
Sep 2, 2024 9:58 pm
"Let's hope it wasn't him, Miss Ameiko. But - please understand - we have to check this lead. Do you have any idea where we could find your brother? Did he establish any means of contacting with him after he left the town - for you or anyone else?" - Li continued calmly, if not slightly ingratiatingly - his line of questioning.

The Shopkeeper's Daughter

Shayliss Vinder
"Who said anything about talking," Shayliss says with a sweet smile. She starts unlacing her dress, letting it drop to the floor so she stands there in her undergarments.

It's about this time that Grim hears creaking of steps upstairs. Seems someone is home after all, and the steps seems to head to the basement.

The Rusty Dragon

Ameiko Kaijitsu
Ameiko shakes her head with a sad look on his head. "I think he headed to Magnimar," she says with a sigh. "I haven't heard from him since. And from Magnimar he could have reached the whole world. There's not many other places to travel to from Sandpoint to tell the truth. Not without braving dangers."
Sep 3, 2024 12:44 pm
Khel scratched his beard and then clasped his hand behind his back, "Miss Ameiko, have you had any kind of talk with your brother, once he left you? Has there been any exchange of letters maybe? Is there anyway maybe you can contact him somehow? Because, the thing is we found dangerous magic in the graveyard? Potent magic to raise skeletons from the grave. I find it alarming that he has come in possession of such magical implement. Did he had any acquaintance when he left Sandpoint? It also seems he had opened Father Tobyn's sarcophagus and robbed it. Dead bones, true names, implements can act as potent anchoring points for arcane energies to take effect. Any idea why he would be robbing the late Father's sarcophagus?"

Grim's mouth goes agape as the girl's clothes fall, turning into a joyful grin. "I didn't ... I wasnt sure if you were interested in me like that."

He takes a step toward Shayliss, then hears the footsteps heading down. "Perhaps we should take this elsewhere? That may be Ven, and I'm sure he won't be pleased with the two of us down here like this."

Li eyes widened when he heard so many and so bold accusations made by Khel, but he managed to keep it to himself and just added with lower vice:
"And... maybe you still have any item that belonged to your brother, that you could lend us... so we could become sure that it indeed was him? Something like... his hair - would be perfect?"

Then he hesitated for a moment and continued:
"And forgive me for asking, but do you think your father could have any contact with Tsuto? Not necessary a pleasant one, but still? Were they arguing on something, maybe? Any common court cases or something like that?"

Then realization come to his mind:
"Isn't sheriff heading to Magnimar - maybe we could ask him to ask around about Tsuto while he will be there?" - he asked talking to the whole group.
OOC:
Edit: added remark about sheriff in Magnimar.

Wess just groans. "So all this talking has gotten us nowhere then? We may have been better off just wandering the woods."
OOC:
this is all in-character of course. I'm enjoying the investigation/roleplay

The Rusty Dragon

Ameiko Kaijitsu
Ameiko shakes her head. "I can't imagine them having any contact. Tsuto had a strained relationship at the best of days. It only got worse as mother died. He blamed father for her death."

She pauses and wipes away watery eyes on the verge of crying. "Mor like he accused my father for her death. I couldn't believe him so he cut contact with me as well."

The Shopkeeper's Daughter

Shayliss Vinder
Shayliss grabs her dress in her hand, shock plain in her face. Then she pushes Grim further into the basement. "No time. Quickly. You must hide."

Her words seem almost prophetic as you can hear the door to the basement open. You have mere moment before whoever it is comes down.

Khel became silent for sometime, "I apologize for asking something that is traumatic, Miss Ameiko. Forgive me for not giving mind to your painful memories."

The halfing hesitates, thinking they should confront the interloper, but he also doesn't want Shayliss to get in trouble. He looks around quickly for a place that can thoroughly conceal him.

"My appologies Miss Ameiko, for further questions, but it can be yours and even whole town security concern... and if it is really your brother - we are still not sure about that to be honest - behind or connected somehow to recent attacks... you think he would want to get same revenge on your father explicitly? Could he make any treats toward him?" - he left enough time for the gir to recollect herself, waiting for answers and before continuing.

"I will just allow myself to repeat my question: maybe you still have any item that belonged to your brother, that you could lend us... so we could become sure that it indeed was him? Something like... his hair - would be perfect?"

Even knowing the reason for Li's asking for a strand of hair, it sounds much weirder without context.

"Perhaps we should just assume it could be your brother until we have a better suspect. What do you think he wanted from this attack? Is there anyone that might still be in danger? You mentioned he doesn't have a good relationship with your father. Do you think your father might be a target?"

The Shopkeeper's Daugher

Ven Vinder
Ven walks down the steps when he sees his daughter in the process of getting dressed. "Oh. I'm sorry," he says and a blush comes on his cheeks.

Then a thought comes to him. "Why are you getting dressed in the basement?! Anyone else down here."

He turns his attention back to Shayliss for a moment. "I would expect this behaviour from your sister! But from you!" Then he scans the room quickly and notices Grim behind a barrel of salt. "There! Who's over there!"
OOC:
Seems by the rules in an opposed check they only need to meet or exceed what the first person rolled, so this one goes to Ven.
The Rusty Dragon

Ameiko Kaijitsu
"I think my father would be the target and not the town itself," Ameiko replies.

She thinks a little at Li's question. "He has been gone for half a decade, so don't think I have any hair. I may have wooden horse he sculpted when we were children. How will that help your case?"

"It's very simple in its complication..." - Li smiled mysteriously - "We have our suspect's hair. Maybe we will be able to chip off some of your brother 'essence' from his work of art - wooden horse. Then we will compare both samples. If they are identical - we will be sure that your brother and our suspect are the same person."

To be honest Li wasn't sure if that would really work... but he had SO HIGH hopes for the possibilities Alchemy will provide them with....

"Are you willing to share it with us - at most we will need only small part of it - or is it too important memento for you? What would be understandable." - Li nodded his head as he would really understand how important this could be for Ameiko.

OOC:
Besides - fellow players - I'm running out of ideas about interaction with Ameiko. Other thing I have noted is to ask Sheriff to look for her brother in Magnimar. Any other ideas what else we should do?
