Aldern Foxglove
"I am doing just great," he beems and sits down, he calls for one of the serving staff to get a round for the whole table. "And that is in no small part due to you. I have heard death by stabbing is painful."

"I came looking for you earlier, but I was told you were slaying the not quite dead," he says with awe in his voice. "Is there any challenge that you can't face? Is the rumors true? Was there undead in town?"
Sep 17, 2024 5:08 pm
Khel nodded, "We have dealt with the undead, but it seems like you came to us for something. What do you need?"

Li was very happy at their result and couldn't wait to share "yet, another proof how Alchemy is useful" with his new friends and fellow town defenders.

"An ancient powerful kingdom? The Old Light once was a war machine capable of spewing fire to a range of more than a mile? That would be most interesting... but not so easy to believe I must say... but Master Quink... you helped me a lot, I learned from you even more and... let's say... I like to check things. If you have any clues where to start, I'm more than willing to help you prove your theories. What's about Old Light that makes you believe it is a weapon? Can we get inside of it? I must admit... having such weapon would be immense help to defend the town now and in the future." - Li didn't hide his thoughts from his companion in discovering Alchemy secrets and possibilities.

The Alchemist
Brodert Quink
Brodert Quink shakes his head. "Wouldn't be smart. I figure it once stood 700 feet tall, but now it is just a crumbling ruin. I wanted to explore it more, but Mayor Deverin refused on fear that I'd destabilize the ruins more. I know kids sneak in and dare each other to enter, but to explore the heights or the ground beneath has proved difficult to get permission."

The Rusty Dragon

Aldern Foxglove
"Oh. I wanted to thank you properly," the nobleman says with a smile. "The way the heroes of sandpoint deserve to be honored. I want to take you boar hunting, and then a feast in your honor with the boar we felled together."
Sep 19, 2024 2:50 pm
Saldrina frowns slightly. "I'm not much of a hunter," she says. "But I will accompany you." It would be rude to turn down the invitation outright.
Sep 19, 2024 3:15 pm
Putting his drink down, "I've heard they're quite tenacious and fierce, but worth it for the meat."

A trip out of Sandpoint sounded good to the halfling right now, even if it meant getting gored by a wild animal. "I'll join you as well."
Sep 19, 2024 3:23 pm
Khel scratched his beard but then slowly shook his head, "Lord Foxglove, I am honoured by your invitation but you see that I am not a person of good archery skill, nor am I good at tracking. I am more of academic bent, if you know what I mean. I am afraid that I will become a blundering fool and turn out to be a straggler when you will be hunting. It will leave a poor taste and I will also be dragging the party down with by inept skills. I would love to join the feast but the actual hunting would not be good for me."
Sep 19, 2024 5:21 pm
"Could be a nice distraction. I'd be in, as long as it doesn't take us too far from the town. The town were a charged with protecting and all." Wess says
Sep 20, 2024 12:09 am
Chigaru rumbles deeply in thought. "I must agree with Master Khel. I don't hunt for sport. While eating the meat is an admiral outcome of the hunt, I do not like to witness unnecessary bloodshed. Besides, we have been tasked to keep watch over Sandpoint so some of us should stay behind at least. I could not forgive myself if something were to happen while all of us were away."
Sep 23, 2024 11:22 am
"Mayor Deverin? Hmm... Maybe... if we say it is necessary to check the lighthouse ruin for the safety of the town... he won't say no to so called 'Heroes of Sandpoint'? You think it could work? I have even idea how to present it to him. And if he will still say: no.... I think the matters of science are sometimes more important... than... many things. Will you be joining us on the ruins exploration, Master Quink? I hope so." - Li said with a mysterious smile.
OOC:
If there was nothing more I should get from Quink, my intention would be to join the group in the tavern.
After hopefully getting some opinion on this way of handling the things from Quink , Li concluded:
"Certainly. We should try at least. But now I have to join my fellow town defenders. I will look into the matter. Farewell Master Quink, will be back with permission as fast as I could."
OOC:
Looking at the other conversations my proposition is: let's split. One group goes for the hunt and other(with Li) go to Lonjiku Kaijitsu house.

The Rusty Dragon

Aldern Foxglove
"Excellent!" Aldern replies once everyone has had their say. "While I would love for you all to come with me, I share your concern and wouldn't like anything to happen to the town. Your are an inspiration."

He calls over the serving staff again. "One more for my friends and me. And I think I will need a room. We can start the hunt earlier if I don't have to ride in from my manor."

Brodert Quink

Brodert Quink
"Well if you can convince the mayor that would be quite exciting," Brodert says excitedly as you take your leave. "I would love to explore an actual Thassilonian ruin... And I have to admit that I wouldn't be above rubbing my findings in my old colleague nose if I got the chance."
OOC:
So I have the following staying in town: Chigaru, Khel and Li
With Wess, Grimwulf and Saldrina going on the hunt.

Will speed time to next morning unless there's something more you want to discuss.
Sep 23, 2024 12:21 pm
OOC:
I like this team split. As for Khel, he would love to know more about the Thassilonian ruins because his backstory is that he came to research this from the very beginning.
Sep 23, 2024 12:37 pm
OOC:
Chigaru would patrol Sandpoint, check in on the people, and wait for Shelalu if she shows up.
Sep 23, 2024 5:54 pm
OOC:
nothing to add here, let the hunt begin!
Sep 23, 2024 6:09 pm
Li, being late to the party - this time literally - after getting to know what has happened and that same of his new friends planing to go for the hunt organized by Aldern Foxglove, describes to his friends and Ameiko only (he is too cautious to share the info with Aldern Foxglove - not knowing how secretive or not he is) what Brodert Quink (with his little help) established about the culprit's hair and the toy horse:
"It's exactly as I... I mean... we have expected: the hair's and the toy's owner are the same person. Mr Tsuto." - he looks at Amiko and adds a little awkwardly - "My condolences, Miss Amiko. Here's your horse... back."

"As some of our companions apparently will be involved in learning about the local community and its customs - which is good, and perhaps may provide us with additional resources to secure the city." - Li says, as if trying to justify them to himself - "I would say it's time to pay a visit to Miss Amiko's father: Lonjiku Kaijitsu."

"Will you join my on this task Master Khel? I have some news from Brodert Quink that may also interest you immensely." - then he turned to big orc - "Your attendance, Master Chigaru would also more than welcome. " - he made a little bow with his head toward the big orc, that apparently is also good with people - "We might come across a few guards to scare away thanks to your size, or charm with your gentle personality." - Li joked, and conclude with: "Besides I always value your way of looking on things and company."
OOC:
As player I'm also more interested in Thassilonian ruins - I must say. But I have a feeling that we should go there at full strength of our team. So my proposition is to go there after dealing with the hunt and Amiko father. Besides Li - as character - will do very much to get to Lonjiku Kaijitsu... :) (acting on my hindrance here!)

Khel was excited by the alchemical finding of owner of the horse and hair. He nodded to Li and replied, "This proves what we feared. We better be careful about Tsuto then and knowing more about him will give us an edge. I absolutely agree that we should talk with Mr. Lonjiku Kaijitsu next. I guess, he won't be happy about the news but then again he might have some idea where Tsuto is. So, I will definitely accompany you to meet Mr. Kaijitsu, but what news do you have from Master Quink that would be interesting to me?"
Sep 23, 2024 9:00 pm
OOC:
GM: I don't remember if anyone has done this earlier, but if not: Li would have stopped by the sheriff's office on his way to the inn. In order to inform him about our findings and asking him to ask around about Tsuto while he will be in Magnimar.

Stalker: Li will certainly answer Khel in next RP post:) Thanks for interaction!

Aldern Foxglove

You get a full nights rest and wake up in the early morning. Ready for a new day. You see Aldern Foxglove waiting at a table, breakfast almost finished as you step into the common room.

He greets you with a smile and a wave.

You quickly finish a hearty breakfast and pack a meal of cheeses and dried meat for the trail. Going outside, you see Aldern has hired horses from the Goblin Squash Stables for those going on the hunt.

You split up, with one group riding into the nearby Tickwood while the other make an early start to the Kaijitsu mansion. You see people in the streets again, and the city have returned to a semblance of normalcy.

The Hunt

Aldern Foxglove
"So how did you all end up in Sandpoint," Aldern asks as you put the town of Sandpoint behind you and enter the edge of the Tickwood.

Kaijitsu Mansion

You are met by a manservant that rudely answers you. "Master Kaijitsu isn't entertaining visitors at this time. And I am sure that even if he was, he wouldn't take a meeting with rabble like you."
Sep 25, 2024 3:14 pm
It had been a while since Wess has ridden a horse, but it was starting to come back to him "I'm afraid my story isn't that exciting a tale sir. Like many fighters, just traveling, looking for glory, helping others when I can." Wess says
Sep 25, 2024 5:17 pm
Khel twitched an eyebrow at the rowdy behaviour of the manservant, "Hmm, for a well known person like your lord and master, I feel like the way the hospitality is extended is very much wanting. Especially when you are talking to the heroes of Sandpoint. Does your lord not extend his graciousness to foreigners coming from distant lands of Qadira and Minkai? I already received a gracious welcome from Lord Foxglove so this behaviour paints a rather shallow picture of your esteemed master."
OOC:
Persuading the manservant. Spending a benny to reroll.
