Recounting the interrogation, "He was part of the Thistletop clan. Mentioned a human woman with a claw for an arm took over and became their defacto leader. There was also a womanly man with a bow, a wizard by the sound of it, and a nasty bastard of a bugbear, Bruthazmus."

With a questioning glance at Shalelu, "Any of that mean anything to you?"

Khel do not find anything more than Li, but is able to confirm Li's findings.

The servant answers Khel. "We are three who live here full time. A cook, a cleaner and me. We used to be more back when we had a full household. We have no one on duty during the night. I retired to my room around 8 o'clock. At that time he was still in his office. I read a little by the bedside, but I am sure I was asleep by 10 o'clock. I got up at 5 o'clock. I can't hear what's going on in the house from my room, but once I'm up and about I would have heard the door so he must have left between then."

"I hang up his clothes, and he has not taken his coat. Nor has he changed from what he was wearing yesterday. And the master do not have a son. His wife indescretion nonwithstanding, Tsuto was never his son. Don't know what he's suddenly doing back in town now after all these years."


The hunt

Shalelu nods along. "That fits with what I've learned as well," she says. "There are five big tribes in the area. The Birdcrunchers, the Licktoads, the Seven Tooths, the Mosswood Goblins and the Thistletop Goblins."

"Bruthazmus and I go far back. We've met several times, though non of us have gotten the upper hand."

"One of the goblins I killed threatned that once they had freed Malfeshnekor the whole region would burn," she adds. "Haven't heard the name before."

At mention of Melfeshnekor, Grim retorts, "Great, let's add another name to the list."

Speaking to the ranger, "The sheriff left yesterday to get reinforcements. We're in charge of the town, or at least it's security, until he gets back."

Khel scratched his beard, "Hmm, this is interesting. It seems like someone entered his room between 8 and 5 o'clock. Not much time has passed between, so if we can follow these tracks, we can get an idea about his whereabouts. So, was Tsuto an illegitimate child of your Master's wife?"

Khel started following the tracks to see where it went.

"Yes, his wife, Atsuii, had an... indescretion," you can almost feel the derision coming from the servant's voice.

Walking back down to the ground floor, you see the steps came from the wooded area, and goes all the way back to the road where it becomes impossible to follow.

Shalelu turns to look back at the dead boar over Aldern's horse. "Strange way to protect the town?" she muses.

Aldern Foxglove
"I am afraid it is my fault entirely," Aldern replies before anyone else have time. "I inisisted to go hunting with the Heroes of Sandpoint. I am afraid I only got half of them as traveling companions, as the other half remained back in town."

"The Heroes of Sandpoint?" Shalelu says. "Quite a title. Hope you live up to it."

Khel started following the tracks to see where it went.
"Master Khel? You think Lord Kaijitsu was kidnapped by Tsuto?" - Li nods his head slightly as if almost confirming that he also has similar conclusions.

But he fallows Khel with checking the tracks and specifically tries to determine if:
- those are a tracks of one person or two (as it seems someone entered the mansion and then left it?)
- what direction are they going? To the town or in the wilderness ?
- if there are any other tracks to fallow - i.e. in wooded area, like some cloths part on branches or something like this ( ;-D )

Watching Li investigate the area for any signs or clue, he also tried to notice whether there was any sign of the unknown individual. "That is what I am thinking Master Li. These things are all falling into places if we think from Tsuto's point of view. But, why would he try to kidnap Lord Kaijitsu now, instead of trying it during the festival attack. Everyone was distracted then. Also, if he had really been able to infiltrate today, that means the town is not at all safe. He may already have eyes and ears in the town."

Seems like metagaming, but I find it very crucial to not miss any clues this time. So, I want to make a notice roll too. We are doing a very poor job in this Kaijitsu investigation front. Rerolling with a benny.

You find tracks of two set of feet leading from the main door that goes down the trail back towards town. Eventually it reaches the more trafficked parts and it becomes hard to figure out which ones goes where. But you are able to track the trail back to the southern bridge over the Turandarok River. It seems the hustle of bustle of the day has wiped out the tracks, so you figure it must have been before people started waking up and opening their stores in the morning (and the last remains of visitors to head back home after the festival).

You know the sheriff's men have patrolled during the night, but haven't had the manpower to have stationary guards on the bridges.

"Looking at the tracks that are now wiped out by the hard working people of Sandpoint it seems they were heading into the town. And thats a little thought provoking... as if it's really Tsuto who kidnapped Lord Kaijitsu... it would be very risky for him to lead his victim through the whole town. They would have much higher risk of someone actually noticing them and maybe even recognizing Lord Kaijitsu or Tsuto. Besides... why into the town and not outside of it?" - Li fell into deep thought as he watched the water flowing under the bridge they were standing on.

Suddenly he woke up from his reverie and said, with urge need to share his idea visible on his face:
"Master Khel! I have a hipotesis: if our earlier assumptions are correct, that would mean... Tsuto has access to the ruins under the city and is using them to move around the city area! That would explain his sudden appearance on the cemetery and now going 'into the town'. What if he didn't go 'into' the town with Lord Kaijitsu. But..." - Li made a dramatic pause - "rather under it?!?" - Li almost shouted with excitement while checking if Khel is sharing his point of view.

"I will run immediately to Brodert Quink's house again to ask him, if there could be entrance to the ruins near this bridge we are standing on right now and how to look for it. Will you join me or maybe you will ask night guards if they saw a suspicious pair during the night? Or Lord Kaijitsu at least?"
OOC:
Li is planing to do as he said: first Quink, then guards office and same questioning, but maybe Khel want to split here? Or do something else?

He listen to your explanation and scratches his chin. "If theres is a secret entrance I have never found them," he says, then thinks some more. "But I have heard tell that there used to be smuggler's tunnels under the town as well. Far more recent. They were all bricked up when the law prevailed."

Khel nodded to Li, "Well, lets not split anymore. I will accompany you to meet master Quink. Also, I must admit, the sewers is the only place where Tsuto can take Lord Kaijitsu. There is simply no other way; an excellent deduction from you, master Li."
