Chapter 2: Local Heroes

"Don't know what more it is to say," the mayor says. "It was 10 years ago and she was 16 at the time. Outside of helping out her foster father, I didn't know her well. I worked as a judge back then, and the fact that I never saw her in my court room was in her favor."

When Chigaru mentions guarding the tunnel Shalelu is quick to volunteer. "I have experience dealing with the goblins. I can guard the entrance."

The mayor nods. "I am sure you will do an admirable job, but you need to rest eventually. I'll get a couple of the watch to help you out."

She sighs. "Unless there is anything else, I need inform Ameiko about her father. And the town leaders that the town is in bigger damage then we anticipated. Keep me posted if you find any other threats to the town."

"Well I would have to consult my books," Brodert says, pushing the glasses up his nose with one finger. "I think I've told you everything I know off hand."

"I can move silently yes," Shalelu nods. "And I have never fought invisible foes. But I assume they still make noise. Otherwise, you could try to get flour or a net to make it easier to know its position even if you can't see it."

"Indeed, that sounds quite... usable... I was going to suggest a ritual to break its spell, but that would take time. Don't think it would stay still while you chanted for an hour," the scholar says with a smile.

You wait around while Brodert once more runs back into town. He comes back some time later, panting and coughing, obviously the most active he's been the last few years is stacking books and the long hard walk to the kitchen to fix tea. He was at least smart enough to bring a wheelbarrow, which is filled with three packs of flour, his curtains and a fishing net.

Wess, seeing as how he can see in the dark, leads the way down the tunnel. You make your way down the western hallway, which quickly turns to the north and after another 35 yards you see a cavern to the east and the tunnel continuing further north. Making your way up the cave you see four strange creatures there. They hisses as they see you, though interestingly they did not react to the sound of your movement through the tunnels. Each creature is holding a ranseur.
