The village of Willowbrook lay behind them, shrouded in a blanket of mist and melancholy. The narrow, dirt-packed south road wound away from the familiar, past fields worked by hands they had known all of their lives. It felt like a severance, a final farewell to the simple certainties of home.

Faramos, the Wild, walked at the front, his broad shoulders clad in a cloak of roughspun wool, dark against the muted greys of the sky. His eyes, sharp and untamed, scanned the horizon constantly, ever vigilant. A hunter by nature, Faramos seemed almost to meld with the landscape, his movements fluid and silent.

Brenda, the Shieldmaiden, followed a few paces behind. Her shield, worn but sturdy, hung across her back, the metal gleaming dully in the faint light that pierced the thick clouds. Her stride was purposeful, each step resonating with the unyielding determination that had earned her reputation. Her hand occasionally brushed the hilt of her sword, a comforting presence amid the uncertainty.
OOC:
Changed her name to make it easier for me to write it =)
The weather was cool, a welcome respite from yesterday's heat. The thick clouds loomed above, casting a muted glow over the landscape. A light breeze rustled through the bushes and flowers that dotted the roadside, bringing with it the scents of wild thyme and damp earth. The road ahead was empty, stretching into the lush plains like a ribbon of uncertainty.

"We should reach the clearing by midday," Brenda said, breaking the silence. Her voice was low. "We can choose our next destination as we get there."

Faramos nodded, his eyes narrowing as he glanced at the distant hills. "Let’s hope the weather holds. Rain would slow us down and make the road treacherous. These plains can be unforgiving in a storm."

Brenda grunted in agreement, her attention already shifting back to their surroundings. "Keep your eyes open. This stretch is often quiet, but you never know."
OOC:
And let's begin! Please describe how Faramos feels as you leave the village. Then, roll for SCOUTING. =)
Jul 23, 2024 1:09 pm
Faramos wished he would feel more sadness, melancholy even... of leaving the place that he spent so many years in. 'Willowbrook' - somehow sounded like home... it should sound like home... but deep inside... Faramos knew that it's not 'his place'. He was kind-of accepted by local community. Some of the people he would even call friends. But many still treated him as someone 'different'... outsider... and not only 'regular outsider' that sometimes have came to Willowbrook... he was - to them - somehow tainted by the Whispering Woods... they felt it... and he felt it too... he was not an ordinary dwarf any more... and this fact made many of them feel... uneasiness... fear even.

Trying to be honest with himself Faromos had to admit... that he felt similar things about himself too.

The change has started... something started to develop within him... and he couldn't oust it any more. He had to leave. He know that well enough.

The only person he knew he would really miss will be Brenda's father - Brandon. The only person that somehow never have made Faramos feel different. At Brandon's home - Faramos always felt like ordinary dwarf-boy. And Brandon was like father to him, ever since he came back from the forest. Someday - he promised to himself - he will get back to Willowbrook and he will fund the Oldman a mill and repay all of his kindness! Make the man not worry about his future like he used to. Mostly about Faromos and Brenda future. But he will not have to worry about anything anymore... when Faromos will return as wealthy dwarven merchant... or... famous general... or... whatever fates has planed for him...

Little did he know that forest spirits had different plan for him....
Faromos nodded in silence to Brenda's righteous remark about their surrounding. He was focused. They have just left for their big journey. They can't make mistakes so soon.

But he also couldn't help to let himself a little smile on his face:
Damn Mist... it trapped us so hard... that we don't even know how the ordinary road looks like few kilometers away... like children in the fog... indeed. So how are we going to discover the whole world...?

He make himself look serious again - not knowing if Brenda noticed his smile and don't wanting to look like he is too light hearted on their journey already.
OOC:
Hope this is enough for a start. Thoughts about Brenda - I have planned for next post:)

Sure it is!
As Faramos and Brenda advanced through the plains, the sun remained hidden behind a dense layer of clouds. The cool air and overcast sky cloaked the landscape in an eerie stillness. The companions walked in silence, each lost in their thoughts, when, at the edge of a wide clearing, they saw a sturdy stone platform perched atop a rocky outcrop. Standing at its peak was a stocky dwarf, his beard gleaming in the sun and his eyes alight with mischief. He was engrossed in his own revelry, drinking some beer, and hadn't noticed them yet.
OOC:
You succeeded with 3 sixes (swords). You can now decide whether to show yourselves, set up an ambush, or to sneak away undetected (roll Faramos’s STEALTH -1 (3D6) in that case, because of Brenda's lack of skill).

I think Faramos would be completely baffled about seeing another dwarf so soon after leaving Willowbrook... and couldn't loose an occasion to meet another of his kind... :) We will see in what he is getting into:) I don't think we would want to 'unhonorably' sneak on the newcomer, but he is cautious and don't want to reveal their approach too soon - just to maybe collect more info about the dwarf or see what he is doing. So I think I will roll for STEALTH, but it won't look in-fiction like sneaking on him. Just approaching in silence and when spotted - looking like regular approach:)
Faramos eyes become suddenly big and wide and reveal a great surprise that he was feeling inside at the moment of noticing that the man they have noticed is one of his kind. He didn't see another dwarf for many years now. But he managed to stay silent, and just nudged Brenda with his elbow, made a sign meaning to keep the silence and not reveal themself to soon, showed here the dwarf with his finger and started to walk towards him, trying to not make to much noise, but don't look like someone sneaking. He hoped to see or even hear what the dwarf is doing before the distance between them will be too close.

No success. So...
Brukir spotted you almost immediately, and with a mocking grin, raised a tankard high, sloshing ale in your direction.

"Look what we have here!" the dwarf shouted, his voice carrying easily across the clearing. "Two more to awaken from their slumber! Come closer, if you dare! Face Brukir, the Master Tormentor!"
OOC:
You are now at Long distance. What do you do?
Jul 24, 2024 9:30 am
Words 'awaken' and 'tormentor' made Faramos somehow uneasy. But maybe it is how mocking done by dwarfs look like? He wasn't sure. So he looked at Brenda to see what her face reveal about the situation and 'friendly dwarf' and stopped his steps. He shouted to Brukir keeping his distance:
"We welcome you Master... Brukir! But... before we get closer to you... can you say what are you doing here all by yourself and what exactly you expect of us?" - Faramos wonderer if he still sounded dwarf-like or has become so reasonable and cautious as most humans that he knows...

I usually post daily, but I got an unexpected amount of free time today, so I am posting again. =)
Brukir's grin widened, a glint of challenge sparking in his eyes. He planted his feet firmly on the stone platform, his broad frame seeming to grow even more imposing.

"Ah, cautious words from a cautious traveler!" he bellowed, the mocking tone evident. "You find me here, guardian of the road. For I am Brukir, and this is my domain. No one passes without proving their worth!"

He raised his tankard again, ale sloshing over the sides as he continued. "You see, my friends, the way ahead is fraught with dangers far greater than what you've left behind. Only those who have the strength, the skill, and the wit to overcome them may proceed. Best me in three simple tests, and you’re free to go. Fail, and you’ll be at my mercy." With that, his hand dropped to the hilt of his warhammer, fingers brushing the cold metal with a sense of familiarity and power.

"So, what say you? Are you ready to prove your mettle against Brukir, the Master Tormentor? Or will you turn back, tails between your legs, to the safety of your village?"
OOC:
What do you do?
Brukir
Jul 24, 2024 10:14 pm
Faramos hearing that the whole thing is about 'some tests' relaxed a little. At last the first person they meet on their road was less probable to be of magical kind or wilder of forbidden arts. And as they say in Willowbrook:
'The word out there has to be really magical... I wish I could see it... but remember the magic itself is very dangerous!' - Faramos smiled again thinking how preposterous now it sounded in his head.

He said with lowered voice to Brenda:
"Hmmm... he wants to test us. It's sounds better than 'kill' or 'rob' us... don't you think?" - he smiled once more, but it was more to give himself some additional courage, rather than thinking the situation should be taken lightly.

They certainly didn't know what they should expect from stranger. Then with raised voice so Brukir could hear him, while resuming his steps towards him - but not too fast - Faramos shouted trying to sound as easy going as Brukir:

"I don't think we have to prove anything to you Master Brukir. As from now on we only answer before our conscience and the laws of nature. But I think" - Faramos looked at Brenda - "we can spend some time getting to know and entertain a noble, but bored - as I presume - traveller... and our selfs. As long as your tests won't require me drinking some ale..." - and with those words Faramos continued his slow, but cautious approach to the dwarf that claimed to be a guard of those roads.
OOC:
I wandered if I should writ it right now, or let you get to know this in-fiction: I think after Farams has returned from the forest he couldn't drink such things like ale or other alcohol anymore. The taste and smell especially is too strong for him now. And I'm aware that it will probably make some problems for him - considering that he is a dwarf and it may look vary suspicious to some... But I think it will be interesting to introduce it.

Please, tell me how I should approach sharing such information in the future - like this - OOC, or it will be better/more fun for you to get to know this in-fiction? :)

I think that if it is something that may become relevant but is not yet, you can OOC it, to prevent some retcon and/or misunderstanding from my part. But as a general rule, I prefer to learn everything in fiction. =)
Brukir's laughter echoed across the clearing, hearty and mocking. "Entertain me, you say? You'll find I'm not easily amused, my friend." He raised his warhammer high, the metal catching the muted light. "You'll answer to me or to this, and believe me, my warhammer is less easily amused than I am."

He took a few steps forward. "But very well, let's start with the first test. A contest of strength. Simple enough, wouldn't you say? We grapple, and the first to pin the other until he yields is the victor."

Brukir's grin widened, a mischievous glint in his eye. "But before we start, a word of advice. You call yourself a dwarf, yet you refuse to drink like one. Afraid of a little ale? Afraid it might dull your wits or weaken your knees?" He shook his head, chuckling. "Pathetic. No true dwarf fears the drink."

He set his tankard down with a thud and rolled his shoulders, muscles rippling under his tunic. "Anyway, if you think yourself strong, come forward. Let’s see if you have what it takes to best Brukir, the Master Tormentor, in a test of raw power."

Brukir's eyes gleamed with anticipation as he squared his stance, ready for the challenge. "Or, if you fear the strength of a TRUE DWARF, there's no shame in admitting it now. But choose quickly, for I grow impatient."

OOC:
I wonder if it is a little mistake on your side or is it intended, but as far as I checked it -> I don't think Faramos told Brukir his name yet... While this could be considered quite rude behavior(but it wasn't intentional), if Brukir knew his name without announcing it first, Faramos would certainly pick up on it and it would certainly alarm him... If it is a mare mistake, we can just assume that Faramos told his name 'between posts' :) The bellow assumes it was a mistake.
The insinuation that he is not a real dwarf started to get on Faramos nerves and made him a little enraged... but he considered that a little rage before test of pure strength couldn't hurt, so he decided to play along with it and not to stay indebted to Brukir with light insults:
"I may know about my kin much less then I would like to... Master Brukir..." - Faramos said with his voice getting increasingly rough and defiant with each word.

Faromos detached his staff from his back and handed it to Brenda if she is willing to hold it for the time of his wrestle match. If not he would simply throw it on the ground. But he left his hunting knife attached at his back to/under his belt... just in case, Brukir wasn't planing to play fair. Then he continued his speech, making a few energetic but still cautious steps towards overconfident dwarf:

"But... if all that makes a true dwarf is drinking ale... than my complete lack of fear towards you is fully justified!" - he said with - this time - openly defiant voice, while making few more steps towards Brukir then few more that started to circle around his oponent, adopting the proper stance for a wrestling match and getting ready for their first clash.
OOC:
I think I would like to read about some Brenda's reactions to all of this. Or you plan to keep her completely in the background and only use for conflicts?

It was a mistake. Brukir told his name in my first post, I didn't realize Faramos did not. I edited the above post to fix this.

I am planning to keep Brenda in the background as much as possible or even ask you to write her reactions as well, especially when there are other NPCs. I just realized that I don't wanna write both sides of any conversation. =)

I will roleplay her as usual when there are only the two of you. Is that OK?
Brukir drops his weapons and advances. As soon as he reaches arm's length, though, Faramos acts faster than Brukir expected.
OOC:
You won the iniative. You can act now. 1 slow action and 1 fast action.

If you wanna grapple, use your slow action and roll MELEE. If you succeed, you drop him to the ground. You can then punch him using your fast action or just ask him to yield.

Oh... right... it would be really hard to stay on both sides and stay fair. Now I understand:) Ok, so let's go with Brenda this way. I will try to RP her from time to time, but currently I'm too focused on Faramos - but from now on I will not be afraid to do so:)
I'm Happy about initiative winning! :)
"So... Master... Brukir..." - Faramos said through gritted teeth, while trying to undercut Brukir and throw him on the ground.

Edit: Ok, 2 successes. Let's see if Brukir reacts to this somehow, as he can, am I right?

With a roar, the dwarf charged, and Faramos met him head-on. The ground seemed to shake beneath their feet as they grappled, each straining against the other’s strength.

Faramos dug his heels into the earth, his muscles bulging as he fought to gain the upper hand. Brukir was relentless, his grip like iron, but Faramos’s strength and experience began to show. With a deft twist, he managed to throw Brukir off balance, pinning him to the ground.
OOC:
You have a fast action left. What do you do? If you wanna pass the round and keep your fast action, please let me know.

Edit: Loved that table. Please add a "F reaction" column in it, so I can see if you ended your turn and is reserving it as a reaction or not. What do you think?

Pedrop says:

"So... Master... Brukir..." - Faramos said through gritted teeth, while trying to undercut Brukir and throw him on the ground.
OOC:
Continuing from this, acknowledging your post.
Being a little surprised at first that he managed to outsmart his oponent and throw him on the ground so soon - for a split second - Faramos instinctively decided to not loose his advantage.

"HOW is..." - Farams stoped mid sentence to made a meaningful headbutt to the pinned Master Tormentor, apparently to underscore his stance on the subject - 'just as dwarves used to do' as he felt - "... your ALE working for you now?"
OOC:
Edit: lol... what a roll... apparently Faramos got seriously angry... on the claims that he is not a real dwarf! :)

Brukir had not expected such a sudden and fierce counterattack. Faramos's headbutt connected with brutal force, and a sickening crunch echoed through the clearing.

Brukir's head snapped back, and he let out a guttural cry, a spray of blood and broken teeth flying from his mouth. His eyes rolled back, and with a groan, he slumped into unconsciousness.

"Well..." - said Brenda - "I didn't expect you to overpower him so quickly."

"Huh!? Master Brukir!?! How..." - Faramos grabbed the older dwarf and tried to rise him for another hit.

"How does... " - his voice cut off instantly. Gripped by a fighting frenzy only now Faramos realized that his opponent is already unconsciousness.

He immediately let go the loose body and wipes the blood from his forehead, looks with a little worry on the red on his hands, then again on lying body, finally with wide eyes at Brenda.

When he heard what she said:
"What...? I didn't want to hurt him... it's just... I felt this rage... I didn't even know I became so strong..." - he sat crosslegged on the ground visibly not happy about his deed.

"Well I guess... it's not the best way to befriend one of your kin... especially when you haven't seen one of your kind for so many years." - he collected himself a little by this point - "But... apparently it's what he was asking for. I think it's simple: we tend to his wounds" - he collected the laying teeth from the ground and closed it in his hand - "wait for him to come to his senses, assume that he will have enough 'tests' for a day and ask for some directions. I don't think it's where he lives? He must have been on the journey of his own? What you think?"

Faramos looked around if they could find any other equipment of his former opponent that could help him indicate who he really was and then drag Brukir on the stone platform and start to tend his wounds.
Jul 25, 2024 4:31 pm
Faramos finds that Brukir has a warhammer, light crossbow, studded leather armor, throwing axe, bronze drinking tankard, 1x field rations, waterskin (with 2 units of water), 1 unit of arrows/bolts (iron head) and a quiver.

"There may be some tracks or hints around here to tell us where he came from, but he seems to be on his own. We can surely tend and ask him that. Let me help you with that..." - said Brenda, as she went to the stone platform and start to tend Brukir’s wounds.
OOC:
Brenda actually has a better healing roll. So, mechanically, you helped her, even if storywise it was the other way around.

Faramos and Brenda quickly knelt beside Brukir, the initial shock of the confrontation giving way to concern. Faramos tore a strip of cloth and began to staunch the bleeding from Brukir's mouth, while Brenda carefully inspected the dwarf for other injuries.

"Easy now," Brenda murmured as she gently tilted Brukir's head to the side, ensuring he could breathe easily.

Faramos, his hands steady despite the adrenaline still coursing through him, worked quickly to clean the blood from Brukir's face. He found some clean water from Brukir’s pack and carefully dribbled it onto the dwarf's lips.

After a few tense moments, Brukir's eyelids fluttered, and he let out a low groan. His eyes slowly opened, dazed and unfocused at first. As consciousness returned, pain etched itself across his features, and he winced, reaching up to touch his broken teeth.

"Ah, that was a good hit," Brukir muttered, his voice slurred from the injury. He tried to sit up, and Brenda helped steady him.

"You've got more fight in you than I thought." Brukir said and chuckled weakly, his hand still pressed to his mouth. His lips were swollen and tingling. "So... No hard feelings. You passed the first test. And I see you healed me, so we can skip the second one. That's surely a demonstration of skill."

"What’s the final test?" - asked Brenda, confused about this single minded dwarf and his so called 'tests'

The dwarf’s swollen grin turned cunning. "A riddle. Answer correctly, and you’ll have proven your wit."

The dwarf’s eyes twinkled as he spoke.

"With bark for skin and roots for feet,
I roam the forest, my secrets deep.
Guardian of green, tender in care,
Yet wrathful avenger, a village beware.

Firstborn of Clay, with ancient might,
In elven tongue, I share my plight.

Edit 1: As player I'm pretty sure I know the answer and I think after the risky fight Faramos would really want to pass all the tests, I think I will push this roll...
Edit 2: Ok, looks that his time in forest and interests(as the success in on 'skill/mod' dice pool) had some use in the end. Ok, so 1 Wit dmg and 1 WP from this encounter so far. I will go/narrate with the answer as Ent, but we will correct it if I as player was wrong:)
BTW: this riddle was great touch! I like it.
Faromos puzzled eyes have meet those of Brenda - just when she asked about the question for final test. Faramos listened with great concentration...

"Woh... you are really focused on your tests Master Brukir... and this riddle... is not an easy one... I must admit... I think... I don't..." - Faramos was just about to admit his defeat in final test of this strange dwarf.

But... then he felt something... was it a cold stream of air... a breeze... a sudden feeling of firm connection with the ground... a distant call of lost bird in surrounding hight grass? But Faramos vision started too cloud... getting dim... and then completely dark...

He wasn't at the warm but cloudy plains any more. He was in cold, dump and grim forest. In the middle of starless night. Again. Like in his many dreams since he got back from his absence. He was hiding under some rock covered with bushes. There was something with him in the forest. He felt it. He feared it. He held his breath not to be heard by it. But he was waiting. And wait seamed to take ages. Suddenly... as from nowhere... a big tree-like leg appeared 1 meter before him. And then... the being bended and peered right into his hiding place, eyes red with rage...

All disappeared. He was once again on the plains with Brenda looking at him worried and Brukir with eyes full of winner satisfaction.

"No. I know who you are. You are an Ent. Master Brukir." - said Faramos with low vice, still looking like one who just saw a ghost, realizing that his head - also - started to hurt him like it would want to explode.

Brukir's eyes widened in surprise and then slowly crinkled into a smile. He leaned back, his warhammer back at his side as he took in Faramos' words. The tension in the air seemed to dissipate, replaced by a grudging respect.

"Well done," Brukir said, his voice carrying a note of genuine admiration. "You have indeed solved my riddle. An Ent, the ancient guardians of the forest. You've proven your wit just as you did your strength and skill."

He pushed himself up to his feet, still a bit unsteady but standing tall. Brenda stepped closer, ready to assist if needed, but Brukir waved her off with a grateful nod.

"You've bested me in strength, skill, and wit," Brukir continued, his tone softer now, devoid of its earlier mocking edge. "You've shown courage, resilience, intelligence, and compassion. You have my respect and my blessing to continue your journey."

He looked between Faramos and Brenda, his expression serious. "The road ahead is perilous, but I believe you have what it takes to face whatever challenges come your way. You've earned your passage through my domain. Travel well, friends. May your strength, skill, and wit guide you safely to your destination." He paused, his eyes twinkling with a bit of his old mischief. "And perhaps, dwarf, consider sharing an ale with your fellow dwarves when next you meet. It might not be so bad after all."

But... it looks like you are a traveler yourself? Would you mind telling us where you're heading? Or maybe you are willing to join us? "Of course I don't mind telling you, Master...?"

"Faramos" - Faramos finally said, a little embarrassed after asking him to join them, but not telling even his name.

Brukir chuckled, his laughter rich and genuine. "You underestimate yourself, Faramos. Strength alone does not win battles, nor solve riddles. You've proven your worth in many ways today."

He paused, considering Faramos's invitation. "As for joining you, I'm afraid I must decline. I am not merely a traveler, though I've seen many lands in my time. I live in a nearby cottage that was abandoned long ago. I made it my home, a place of solitude and reflection."

Brukir's expression grew serious, his eyes meeting Faramos's with a steady gaze. "You see, my mission now is to ensure that those who leave their villages are truly prepared for the world beyond. Too many venture forth with dreams and little else, only to meet with disaster. I am the Master Tormentor, a title I bear with pride. My tests are designed to strengthen and teach, to harden travelers against the trials they will surely face."

He glanced at Brenda and then back at Faramos, a hint of a smile playing at the corners of his mouth. "But I appreciate your offer, and I am honored by your words. If ever you find yourselves in need of guidance or rest, my domains are always open to you."

With those words and newly gain energy Faramos and Brenda decided to continue their journey. Continuing their journey down the road.

As they really appreciated the encounter with dwarf on a mission, they somehow hoped that they will manage to move a little further from their home town this time before meeting another drawback.

Somehow they felt they have to be on the move... even though there was no sign of anyone chasing them.
OOC:
Those are Faramos thoughts. For me the encounter was really fun, but in the same time I'm so eager to uncover some more of the world(and it hexes:) ).

As for their next destination I think they are aiming to go to NE hex - as the road leads. I think getting nearer the forest is intentionally for me as player:)

As Faramos and Brenda continued their journey, they soon found the way forward blocked by a dense, thorny shrubbery. The tangled mass of branches and thorns seemed almost impenetrable. Brenda took the lead, her shield and sword working together to create a path through the thick underbrush.

"Careful, Brenda," Faramos called out, concern in his voice.

Brenda nodded, her focus unwavering as she hacked at the stubborn branches. Suddenly, a particularly sharp thorn caught her arm, tearing through her sleeve and leaving a deep scratch. She winced but continued, her determination unbroken.

"Are you alright?" Faramos asked, rushing to her side.

"I'm fine," Brenda replied through gritted teeth, glancing at the blood trickling from her arm. "It's just a scratch. Let's keep moving."
OOC:
You must roll MIGHT or MOVE to be able to move forward. Brenda is helping, so receive +1. If you fail, you suffer one point of damage to Strength and must roll again until you succeed or get Broken. You can push or change the skills after each roll.

Edit: ok, so the same as Brenda the 2nd attempt was successful. A short narration now/this time, as I still have a lot on my plate....
"Ok... but please be careful... we don't want to stay inside this bush... AHH... uh... You are right they don't treat newcomers lightly..." - Faramos said looking at the gash on his right thigh.

They were forcing their way through the unwelcome flora for some time in complete silence, mainly depending on their sheer determination... when Faramos decided to comment:
"I hope we are at least in the middle... I must say I'm almost wishing we would see Brukir jumping out from behind some tree, shouting that he is glad he has caught us in another of his tests..." - he tried to joke.

Edit: Included a nice compass in my hex map, to help us with directions =)
Brenda and Faramos managed to make it through the shrubbery, though it took considerable time and effort. As they emerged on the other side, the sun was already dipping below the horizon, casting long shadows across the landscape. The air grew noticeably colder.

Brenda wrapped a cloth around her wounded arm. "We'll need to find a place to camp soon," she said, her breath visible in the cooling air. "It'll be dark before we know it."
OOC:
Unfortunately, you won't make any further progress on the map during this Quarter Day.

Its Evening now, what do you do? Please fill out all the remaing slots in today's schedule, both for Faramos and Brenda...

"Good point Brenda. It's time for our first camp in the wilderness" - Faramos smiled weakly thinking this time it may be not as fun as it used to be when they were much younger and were training with Brenda's father how to make a camp -"'Just in case mist will be gone. And it certainly will! Some day..." - As Brandon, Brenda's father used to say as excuse for the training he was providing to his little army of two younglings.

"So get into this fur of yours and get some sleep. This wound has to heal. I will try to make a camp for us during that time. ONE thing good about those damn bushes is that they offer us some cover and protection - at least from one side."
OOC:
So... I figured that not so bad way to go for this would be: ask Brenda to sleep on "BARE GROUND" - as in rules, as she has sleeping fur I can see. So probably will fight off the cold. And meanwhile Faramos will make a camp. If we both succeed - she will be well slept and keep the watch at night. If not, she will be able to sleep in the camp.

Should I roll for her sleeping on the ground?

Springrise, 5th day.
Evening

They hiked a bit further, but the encroaching darkness and dropping temperature made progress slow. Eventually, they found a small, sheltered grove that offered some protection from the wind. Faramos gathered some fallen branches and kindling, working quickly to start a fire. Brenda, knowing they needed to stay vigilant, chose a sturdy tree nearby and climbed up, settling in a high branch that allowed her a good vantage point.

"Brenda," Faramos called softly up to her, "I will get the fire going. Get some rest if you can."

Brenda nodded, her eyes scanning the surrounding area from her perch. "Alright, but wake me when you need to sleep. I'll keep an eye out from up here."

A couple of hours later, as the fire crackled to life, casting a warm glow in the encroaching darkness, Faramos sat down, feeling the weight of the day's exhaustion. He ate and checked his pack, noting with concern how his rations were dwindling. They would need to find more food soon.
OOC:
Reduce 1 step die from Faramo's FOOD supply (see the roll below)
Either way, as the flames flickered and danced, he found himself reflecting on the day's trials and the challenges still ahead.
OOC:
Faramos and Brenda received 1 XP for the 5th day, as you were successful in the tests and "defeated" Brukir.

For further details about how we are handling XP, refer to the advancement rules in this post

Night
OOC:
I assume Faramos is going to SLEEP in the last Quarter Day, so I will keep this moving...
Hours passed, and eventually, Faramos's eyes grew heavy. He stood and called up to Brenda. "Your turn to keep watch. I'll get some rest now."

Brenda climbed down from the tree with practiced ease and took her place by the fire. "Rest well, Faramos. I'll keep us safe through the night."

Faramos nodded gratefully and lay down, the warmth of the fire and the knowledge that Brenda was keeping watch allowing him to drift into a deep, much-needed sleep.

Springrise, 6th day.
Morning

The morning dawned gray and overcast, the air heavy with the promise of rain. Brenda, still alert from her night watch, gently roused Faramos. He blinked awake, stretching stiff muscles as he sat up. The fire had died down to embers, and the chill of the morning air was a sharp reminder of their vulnerability in the wild.

"Morning," Brenda said, her voice soft but steady. "The night was uneventful. We should get moving soon."
OOC:
You were able to SLEEP and REST. Recover all your lost attribute points.
As they packed up their belongings, the first drops of light rain began to fall. It was a gentle, intermittent drizzle, more of a nuisance than a hindrance. The sky would remain overcast for the whole day, with occasional bursts of sunlight breaking through the clouds and casting brief moments of warmth and light on the damp landscape.
OOC:
All LEAD THE WAY rolls will be at -1 due to the weather, but you are otherwise unaffected.

Great post!

Ok, I have noted the changes on my sheet, but I propose let's wait for Grey to say if he is catching up with the party or we meet him on our way soon. As if he is catching up - the current camp and place would be good place to RP our meeting.

Actually, please continue as usual. Grey will start in another thread alone and will join you after some In Character posts. If this was a tabletop game, your approach would be excellent. In PbP, the GM can be in two threads simultaneously, so things can happen more naturally ;)

Faramos smiled at Brenda after she roused him:
"Morning, Brenda!" - briskly answered Faramos, feeling that energy and eagerness to continue their journey is getting back within him.
"Yes, you are right... time to move on." - he looked at the weather - "A little rain didn't hurt anyone I guess. The most important thing is that the Mist still didn't show up. Even at the night. And let's hope it will stay that way."

Faramos gathered his things from the camp and asked:
"I see you are ready for some time now? Organized and tidy as always." - he smiled with a pinch of mockery and admiration - "So let's go."

When they approached the roads crossing:
"Hmm... interesting... at least we can see more than one road and have some choice to do. But I just feel that we should keep with the current one and turn right."
OOC:
Faramos is intending to go NW hex( again), but the true is that he is - unconsciously - drawn by the forest in the north.
Rolling Lead the way with -1 for this(in advance?).

But I also had a thought that since there is road between those hexes there could be a +1 mod because of that. It's not so hard to navigate when you can see road under your feet:) Just sharing my thoughts. Will not insist on this:)

Usually I would give you a bonus for a road… But not this road ;) See below.
Either way, you succeeded and moved into a new hex - no mishaps. =D
Springrise, 6th day.
Morning

They set off, keeping close to the forest and walking upon the remnants of an ancient road, its weathered stones peeking through the undergrowth. The road was in a state of severe neglect, having been abandoned for hundreds of years. In some places, it disappeared entirely, swallowed by the encroaching forest and shifting earth. Faramos and Brenda had to navigate carefully, often losing the path only to find it again a mile or so later. The ground beneath the road had grown restless over the centuries, cracking and shifting as it slumbered through countless winters. The dwarves had once kept these roads in impeccable order, but since the Man Flood of 835 AS, they had fallen into disrepair. The influx of human settlers disrupted the maintenance and altered forever the landscape.

"These cracks are everywhere," Brenda noted, stepping over a particularly deep fissure. "The ground has been restless for a long time."

Faramos nodded, his eyes tracing the old stonework. "Yes, and without proper upkeep, it's only gotten worse. But you can still see the craftsmanship. The dwarven chieftain Gorder oversaw the construction of these roads in 250 AS. Stone singers raised slabs of stone from the earth, joining them together. These stones were meant to last."

In some areas, the road was still in use, though barely. Loose gravel filled in the larger cracks, a makeshift solution to keep it passable after the rains turned the surrounding ground to mud. It was a stark reminder of the road's former glory and the decay that had set in over the years.

With the ancient road crumbling beneath their feet, they moved on.
