As soon as they reach the shore, Sigrid leaps out of the boat. Her eyes glow with golden light as she calls on the New God to grant her sight beyond sight!
OOC:
Using sense enemies talent, then will start moving at top speed in the direction the creature disappeared.

Hugh will run towards where the creature and its victim dropped out of sight, hoping to catch it before it escapes.
OOC:
Hugh spent time as a Bandit and Thug before a stint in jail and enlisting in the militia... I would think (assuming this creature strategizes at all like a person) that Hugh would have some insight into what a being doing nefarious deeds would look for in terms of terrain, cover, and concealment.

Sigrid runs in, trying to Detect Enemies to see where the creature ran off. Unfortunately, it's already beyond the 20 yard range of the enhanced paladin vision, and it cannot be seen. At least, not yet.

Fachtna runs over to the spot of the attack, and amazingly discovers the victim not too far away. It seems the creature was caught mid-attack, and decided to abandon its prey before rushing away. The young man was the very same teenager who served you in the tavern - Long Bob Dree!

His face is sliced up, cut along the same line that Gnarly Peg's scar was. But poor Bob has his face much further removed. What's worse - where the young man’s face should be, instead of the bare muscle and bone that one would expect, there is a half-melted-looking expanse of skin, shriveling away from the skull in places.
OOC:
Fachtna and anyone else examining the body, please make a Will Challenge Roll or gain one insanity!
Meanwhile, thanks to Hugh's experience as both a bandit and a thug (two relevant professions!), he's able to quickly get a lay of the land and gain insight on some of the most likely hiding spots around. When you are all ready to go, Hugh will be able to lead you to where he would hide, if he were in this same position. And wherever that is, is likely where this thing is hiding.

The priest approaches to say some quick rites for Long Bob Dree, but covers his mouth and steps back as he gets close enough to see the exact condition of the boy's face. After a moment of gagging into his hand, Lorenzo vomits into some nearby brush. He thought he was prepared for a grizzly sight, but the melted flesh had caught him off guard.

"What manner of weapon can cause such a thing?!"

Once the fear had passed, the priest would join the others to examine it more closely.

Caranthir followed in Sigrid's footsteps readying his maul for any nasty surprises. "Oh did this thing ever mess up, gotra face us both at once. Hehehe." Caranthir bumped his shoulder into Sigrid affectionately as he joined her hunt.

Sigrid grins and returns the shove, perhaps a bit more rougher than she had intended. "I'll go high, you go low. He won't know what hit him!" she laughs.
