Character Selection

This space will be used for character selection, relationships, backgrounds and drives.

To start, each person should select a character:

Each character has a Background, a Secret and a Voicemail prompt that I will relay to you after you’ve selected.

Then I will randomly assign a drive card to you.

Hi all.
I have seen this game being played once in a video with a text log. It is very interesting and I look forward to play.

I am okay with any character I guess.
Maybe Dakota or Evan sounds a bit more interesting than the others.

I'll put a bid in for either Jordan or Dakota, but I'm fine with anybody. :)

I would not mind Evan Holwell or Jack Briarwood.
I am fine with either.

Jack Briarwood and Steven Yates draw my attention.

I’ll assign people their first options, as there’s been no overlap there. I’m hoping the first you listed is the first you wanted!

Each character will have a background question related to Alice. You can put that in the Alice Briarwood thread.

There's also a secret. You can just post that here, in a note to me or yourself. (You can keep this totally to yourself, off-site, if you want the answer to be a surprise to even me!)

Finally, there’s a voicemail. You can post that in a note to me or you over in the voicemail thread.

Yeah, that would work too. My character sheet is just a custom sheet with a name and a picture.

At the very least, I’ll need everyone to do at least that much. You can store info on there too, if that works.

Except for the background bit, as that’ll be used as setting/character building. The other stuff is all good though!

I submitted for Jack. Will work on getting more done over the day.

Drives & Relationships:

Everyone has their character now, and can post their background prompt over on the Alice thread. You also have your voicemail prompt, which you can post (in a note) over on the Voicemail thread.

Now we will talk about Drives/Motives.

I’ll randomly assign a card to each player. It’ll have a motive and two relationships. The motive is for you to help roleplay during the game. Adding it to your background, secret and voicemail, it will inform your character choices and actions in-game. Feel free to really lean into it.

Let’s talk about Relationships:

Each card has two relationships. Assign each one to another player in the game. Try to keep the spread even (would you rather the spread was assigned?).

The basics of the relationships are common knowledge, but deeper things can also be discussed in private with each other.

"We’ve never really gotten along."

Everyone at the table knows that. But maybe not everyone knows why.

Second, the relationships are one-sided, if that makes sense.

Just because someone pulls "I’m protective of you" doesn’t mean that the other character necessarily appreciates that. Or maybe they do!

A point to note: You are friends… or at least you were at one point.

Jordan Foster:

Jack Briarwood:

• I know you don’t care about Alice as much as I do.
• I’m protective of you.

Steven Yates:

Note: The following relationships can be swapped out with yours, if you aren’t feeling what you got! They can only be used once each, so once they’re gone, they’re gone.
