Alice has always been the quiet kid. Quiet, that is, until she warmed up to you. Then you couldn’t shut her up. When she was by herself, or around people that weren’t in her group, she kept her head down and stayed out of trouble.

When it was just the two of us… God, I remember my dad banging on my door at 2am for us to keep it down. I miss those days. Haven’t got to do that since I moved out of town…

What about Alice do other people sometimes find annoying, but you appreciate?
Alice likes to sing along with her music. And to be honest, she is a horrible singer. But so am I. We often sing along with music together. It sounds terrible, but it is great fun.

Jack’s Background Prompt:
Tell us about why you and your sister’s home life has been so difficult these last few years.
John is back. Technically he's our father, but the guy is a total jerk! Mom just wants a relationship to stick, so she's desperate. Doesn't excuse how bad it's been though. The guy doesn't care about us. Nothing is ever enough. If we don't look at him the right way, or use the wrong tone, he gets upset. Alice has been trying to keep a low profile, but I can't even pretend to put up with him. Every other morning starts with a shouting match between us. Going to school has been a blessing most days, and the weekends something to dread.

You and Alice have started to grow apart recently. Why is she so different now than she used to be?
I'm not sure what's been going on, but Alice has become more and more sullen and withdrawn lately. We used to tell each other everything, but now she barely even talks to me. The last time I tried to ask her what's happening, she snapped at me and told me to leave her alone. I just want her to be okay...

Tell us what rumor you’ve heard about Alice that you don’t believe is true.
There's this rumor going around that Alice started using drugs. I don't buy it at all. Alice has always been so against that stuff. I mean, she even lectured me about the dangers of smoking when she caught me with a vape pen once. It's just not her. People are saying she’s been hanging out with some sketchy folks, but I know she’s just stressed out with everything happening at home. It’s been really tough for her, but drugs? No way. I think people are just bored and trying to stir up drama.

Steven's Background Prompt:
As you were getting closer to Alice, what about her personality surprised you the most?
Alice had a temper.
Never would have guessed when we started dating. She was really quiet. Once we got closer and she got comfortable, she got a lot more open... she was louder, sang (poorly), and laughed. She laughed a lot. But there were times her temper would flash white-hot and honestly it was a bit scary. I never worried she'd hit me or anything, but I was honestly a bit surprised one of those bitchy cheerleaders hadn't caught Alice's hands yet.

She hid it well, but her temper definitely surprised me the most.
