This is a homebrew 5E Campaign in a homebrew setting. The concept is an established party of adventurers undertaking a quest to slay a mysterious beast. This will lead to a series of events that will forever change the world. Looking for 6 players, all are welcome. The players will be starting at level 5 and have been adventuring together for some time. Pitch your character concept here and I will pick who fits the setting best.

Cornellia

A land steeped in mystery and ancient secrets. Cornellia is ruled by an alliance of the different peoples and their many city-states. The Alliance has stood for five hundred years, since the defeat of the Ancient Red Dragon Valkizar who devastated much of the land. The alliance has recently take a blow as the City of Tethra has left the alliance as tensions with Blood Haven are on the rise. Nobody is sure why the city has left the alliance. This also comes as the Orcs of Trosk have gotten more aggressive. Tensions are high and the people are anxious making life miserable for many. There is mass corruption throughout the alliance and times are getting worse. Many have turned to adventuring or crime. There are also rumors of farms being destroy north of the Valen Wood.

You are an adventuring company based out of Harfang. You have made a name for yourselves in the region around Lake Pyron, The Valen Wood, and even among the Elves as skilled adventurers. Your most recent exploits involved the notorious Thief Kiltus Blackarrow and his gang of bandits. This victory has led to your group recently being awarded with a large parcel of land outside the city walls. 10 Acres of land to be exact. Currently while you decide what to do with the land you have been staying in at the Crows Reach. A large Inn and tavern in Harfang where you all originally met two years ago when you started adventuring. Gathered at a large table in the back of the common room having breakfast when you are approached by a young well dressed blond half-elf man.

"Greetings, I am Tobias Hal, I work for Lord Kent of Maldune," The half-elf says with a smile. "Lord Kent is only a minor nobleman but he has a number of farms under his protection. Multiple of which have been recently destroyed. The Lord's attempts to deal with the creature have all failed and we are left with the last resort of turning to adventurers like yourself. His Lordship is offering 1,000 gold pieces each if you will discover the nature of the beast and eliminate it."

Level 5.

Well then that would be the School of Transformation and a homebrew background of Alchemist. Thinking of a human for race.

Would you be allowing standard 5e character sheets have a custom one in mind?

I'm allowing custom sheets.

Half orc tempest cleric. He was treated like a danger growing up in a small village. He didn't know his parents, but was raised by a kind old human man.

He had dreams of some powerful person telling him he would become his instrument of destruction but never knew who the person was or what that meant. One day he went to go get some wood from the forest and came back to a group of bandits threatening his adopted father. When they wouldn't back down, he casted thunderwave without understanding how.

He killed the bandits, and the old man decided to introduce him to a traveling priest who took him in so that the locals wouldn't use his act of heroism.as a reason to kill him. He now looks for a place he can call home and be accepted but also learn what his recurring dream is about.

Just so you know, I am going with standard 5e gods.

That's fine. I know most of the gods in standard 5e for the tempest domain are evil, which is why my idea had the relationship he does where he is less a worshipper and more a tool that doesn't know it and may have to wrestle with if he wants to reject his powers once he finds out, maybe switching domains. If that sounds weird or complicated you can pass over me for selecting players

I would be interested! What sort of mix of social and combat do you anticipate? Also since this is an establishment party with a home base looks like some world building opportunities?

I would be interested in joining. I like front line character types and have been toying with playing a paladin. I haven't played one under the 5E rules yet and it might be a good fit for a concept I've been considering for a while.

Name: Trent Langdon
Race: Human (maybe Variant)
Class: Paladin, Oath TBD
Background: Haunted One - Modified

Backstory:

Trent was born the fourth son of a relatively minor noble. The family was wealthy, but not lavishly so and with Trent having so many older brothers, there was little chance of him ever inheriting the title or lands. Still, having wealth meant that Trent was well educated in math, science, and literature.

Getting into trouble and general misadventures led Trent to be sent away to military boarding school, which Trent rather enjoyed the structure. Late in his teen years while out on a night at the pub, his group of friends stumbled on an undead which killed most of the group. A random group arrived just in time to save Trent.

Weeks of recovery later, Trent was no longer care free young man he had been. Concerned about the corruption of his wounds and angry at the death of his friends, Trent studied undead lore and trained to hunt and destroy them.

A moderate mix of Social and Combat. Yes there will be some world building opportunities beyond what I have established already.

Definitely making the short list.

Sounds like an adventuring hook to me. Which deity did you have in mind because I can figure out a way to work it into the game?

GM: Winks. Hope you have a Wizard school or something too. I have a miss Mugridge looks for exotic parts. She is heavy into transformations. Obviously well trained. She is a strange bird (Yes, she is human) to say the least. She may be slightly extraplanar too.

She is well known in Harfang for her involved banishing the notorious Thief Kiltus Blackarrow and his gang of bandits. She seems to like the river side life. And she does speak fluid Elvish. Frequently seen with her kitty.

I was thinking Talos, but unless you want me to come up with something I thought that DM could come up with why he is giving someone who never worshipped him clerical powers since my character doesn't know why.
Aug 10, 2024 7:42 pm
I always love playing clerics who are not priests and may be getting powers for unknown reasons. D&D 5E seems more open to those things. Gods and patrons do lots of things people don't understand. Nudging a half orc to see what kind of chaos he can cause seems perfectly reasonable to me :)

Sylvia is a draconic bloodline, Half elf sorcerer who grew up in a small village but took up a life of adventuring when her powers manifested.

Silvia is a complex character, torn between her humble roots and her newfound destiny. She is kind, compassionate. However, her discovery of her magical abilities has forced her to confront a world beyond her village. She is eager to learn more about her heritage and how to control her powers, but she is also cautious of the changes it will bring to her life.

@Azule86 Her adventuring hook would be something along the lines of, Silvia becomes increasingly aware of an inexplicable pull towards the wild. Dreams of soaring through the sky on the back of a magnificent dragon and sometimes flying on her own fill her nights. She begins to believe that her draconic heritage is calling her to a greater purpose.
