See instructions HERE. I've tried to make them as simple as I could, but you may still have questions, so feel free to ask either here or on discord.

OOC:
Looking like a university researcher type who does a lot of field work likely as part of a corporate orinternational consortium to study new ecosystems (xeno -chemistry, -geology, -biology). Lots of paper work to do. Accidents happen so he has some medical training and can shoot a gun (though probably not hit the target)

Looks good to me!

@falconloft

Reviewing the build parameters, would you object to having a D Grade FLT on the android?
Aug 21, 2024 9:00 pm
I want to say I don't mind, but given that I've never run this system before, let's stick with the way things are laid out. However.... just because you have those skills on paper doesn't mean you need to USE them. It's always an option to simply not make a check at all if you feel it's in-character.
Aug 21, 2024 9:06 pm
I was just sticking to the proposed Wey-Yu model. They always start with no emotions, then through trauma they develop conviction.

For instance Deckard when he realizes he is a replicant become the plucky hero. And David becomes the ruthless villain when he realizes he only has a few months of life left.

Its a one shot so neither of those things needmust be. It would be fun to set him up as the villain.
Aug 21, 2024 9:36 pm
I don't think there's a lot of room in the scenario for a villainous PC. The death has already happened after all. However, there is still a good way to get the emotionless side out. When you make a check, you have to choose an approach (details in the character info thread). You can play up the emotionless angle by never choosing the right-hand column for your approach, and failing into that column when possible.

For instance, if you were to interrogate someone, you could choose to do it Boldly or Carefully, and then if it fails, fail by not being Insightful or Discreet.

okay, so a couple things I wasn't quite clear on. Sorry, sometimes I think I'm explaining things well and I'm not.

1) The skills you spend your points on are the listings under the specialties. So you could have, for instance, 2 in Striking and 1 each in Dynamic Shooting and Wilderness Survival. Then, if you took Combat as your trained specialty, you'd boost Striking to 3 and Grappling and armed combat would both go from 0 to 1.

2) For Academic, it's the same. The main topics are just sort of groupings to make the specific choices easier to find. Your academic choices should be the individual topics.

I don't think we're going to get more interest in this, so it's just the two of you. If that's cool, great. If not, that's okay.

Ah so we get to train 3 out of 4 specialties and get +1 on all skills ? Nice :)

Now this makes a lot of sense 😅 I found it weird someone would know Archaeology, Medicine and Astronomy, but hey! it's a game 🤷

Aaaaand it has come to my attention that I am, in fact, wrong on skills/specialties. I'm sorry. First time with the system and all. *sigh* Let's rewind.

@CESN had it right the first time. You spend your skill points on the main headings, so Computers, Science, Medical, etc. Then you get an additional +1 to three individual skills. The individual ones are the 'specialties'. Again, sorry for the confusion and extra work.
Aug 23, 2024 3:31 pm
If you want to go ahead and throw up a sheet with your character's name on it, I'm going to type up our intro. We can play while that stuff gets fixed. Might not be the last thing I misunderstand, anyway.

Still only 3 academic specialties and not the entire groups I guess :)
Character submitted. not entirely sure how the rolling will work so I just added a table with possible rolls
[ +- ] sheet

Okay, so before we dive in, lemme just talk about rolls real quick.

Your base is 2d10.
You'll add Advantage for the following:
-- Having the relevant specialty trained.
-- Exerting yourself and taking Stress/Fatigue.
-- Having help.
-- Positive circumstances.
-- Having needed gear.*

You'll add disadvantage for:
-- Lacking the relevant specialty.
-- Having someone actively opposing you.
-- Negative circumstances.
-- Lacking needed gear.*

* If a check doesn't normally need gear you don't think about this.

Advantage and disadvantage cancel each other out, so if you have 2 Adv. and 2 Dis. you'll just roll 2d10. If you end up with dis/advantage, you'll roll that many extra dice, and then keep the highest two for adv or the lowest two for dis. After you've taken the two you want, if there's any tens, keep the 10 and roll again; if you have any ones, take -10 and roll again.

RESULTS
Disaster0Fail and Panic
Failure5Fail
Mixed10Success and consequence OR Fail
Success15Success
Critical20Success and carry forward advantage
Aug 26, 2024 6:34 pm
Panic dice result from crit fails, save fails, and encountering anything unnatural.

I also need to give you your save values and your stamina (physical health) and focus (mental health).

Your Stamina is equal to Body+Reflex.
Your Focus is equal to Nerve+Logic.

You can spend Focus as stress and Stamina as Fatigue to gain advantage. Generally you'll spend stress for Nerve/Logic and fatigue for Body/Reflex.

These are health pools too though, so you are pushing yourself closer to exhaustion when you use these.

@Jomsviking - I can't see your character yet, so let me know when you've got it and we'll get going.
Aug 26, 2024 6:49 pm
@CESN - Just to clarify the clarification: You'd specialize in Research, Fieldwork, or Labwork rather than science.
Aug 26, 2024 6:50 pm
Also, @alepous will be joining us so if we're ready before they are, I'll let you have a bit of RP on the ship before we get to the station while they're taking a shower.
Aug 27, 2024 8:59 am
Right, let me try that again! I might make some final adjustments to fit a bit better with the others (probably remove that support fire specialty)

Finally decided on an Avatar. Seth is played by Mads Mikkelsen

Nice choice @Jomsviking. I will probably go with Tom Hanks from his "Finch" film.

alright! We're off. Full disclosure, I am fighting something that is just draining all of my strength. I do not know what it is. It's apparently not covid, at least. My posting is show and I feel stupid sou if you ask a question and I don't answer, please poke me and I'll get it.

@alepous

Your RIG sounds a lot like the inspiration for mine.

Isaac from Dead-Space had some amazing suits.

This hardsuit reminds me of painball gear in a good way.

Chest computer is best computer.

Lets fix this station!

the multitool is a mix between Isaac Clarke's plasma cutter and Dr. Who's sonic screwdriver.

Falconloft says:
We had a bit of a morph here as it seems that you want to investigate undercover. This is fine, but the original scenario called for a public investigation, so I will try to morph the scenario along with you. If I cannot, I'll call out what's changed and why so you can fit it into your investigation. I hope that won't be necessary, just don't know for sure.
ahah well... that was a bit improv on the spot. We can easily go with the public investigation. It just takes me not getting the job for one reason or another. Maybe the hiring process is as archaic as the station itself.

PS: just noticed the Union Hall on the map. They probably need to approve my application and they are the one asking for the investigation right? Maybe it's not undercover but just a easier way to give me access to the facilities?
