Round Two
(for the start of this combat, please read the round one post. It is continued with round three)

Just as Morik had done before him, Ishi bursts free of the entangling folds of the transparent creature. Ishi is no longer Grappled or Restrained.
In the absence of communication from Adran as to how long it will take them to appear, Elowin strings her bow and nocks an arrow, ready to perforate the first target to appear in the archway exit from the library.
Like the barbarian, the bear is 20' down in the murky water. Morik bites into the creature and rakes it with his claws (both attacks hit [!], but now Morik is certain that it is immune to piercing damage). The invisible-while-in-water creature takes 11 slashing damage. Morik remains 20' underwater.
Elysia whips out her sword, dives headfirst into the pool, swims down, quickly orients herself on the large shaggy form of her companion, and attacks the creature with her rapier. She, too, realizes that she has hit the creature but that it is unaffected by what would have been 12 points of piercing damage. Elysia is also 20' underwater.
OOC:
@Kilikina The attack almost certainly will hit, but since the creature is invisible in water, I'm rolling a second time for you to represent the DISADV.
[ +- ] Elysia Dives in
Like his sister, Adran waits for someone to appear, whereupon he will loose his weapon as well.
Faithfully waiting by the artificer's side, Mara waits for a command.

The transparent liquid creature, either confident in its invisibility while in water or too stupid to do anything but attack when creatures remain in its lair, attacks Morik again. Morik is struck for 15 damage and is Grappled and Restrained again.

With the ease of long practice, Eozindra hauled back the arms of the crossbow and locked them into place, slotted a bolt into the channel, and loosed the bolt with a KA-CHUNK into the depths of the pool. Looking around for anything else that might be of help, she notices something about the shelves...

Eozindra runs towards the bookcases forming a corner opposite of the hallway from Adran, taking a shot at the invisible creature on her way by.
OOC:
Eep, sorry!

Getting as close to the bookcases on other side of the pit as possible to hug in similar to the way Adran is. Looking ahead for whatever is coming.

End of round one

Eozindra rushes past the pool, discharging her crossbow into the water, and then takes cover behind a bookshelf, content to wait with Adran for the two rounds it will take for the speakers to arrive. The bard's crossbow bolt whizzes past Morik's fuzzy ear and passes through the creature harmlessly. If it hit the creature (it did, but he's not sure, because the creature is invisible while it is in the water), Morik observes, it did not slow down at all.
OOC:
From this the players can deduce that the creature is immune to piercing damage, even if their PCs may not realize it yet.
ROUND TWO
With a wild thrashing of his muscular body, Ishi breaks free of the grapple. Ishi remains 20' underwater, but is not Grappled or Restrained.
Elowin calls upon Lunea in song, casting Faerie Fire on the pool. The creature, Ishi, Morik, and Elysia must all roll DEX saving throws, DC13 (note that Morik has DISADV on DEX saves from being Restrained). The invisible-while-in-water monster fails its save and is outlined in Lunea's glow, as does Morik. Ishi and Elysia avoid Lunea's limning. Attacks on the creature have ADV, which cancels out the DISADV from invisibility, so they are straight rolls now. Attacks on Morik continue to have ADV (from being Restrained AND from Faerie Fire), so no change there.
Morik bites into the creature and rakes it with his claws (both attacks hit [!], but now Morik is certain that it is immune to piercing damage). The invisible-while-in-water creature takes 11 slashing damage. Morik remains 20' underwater.
Elysia whips out her sword, dives headfirst into the pool, swims down, and attacks the creature with her rapier. She, too, realizes that she has hit the creature but that it is unaffected by what would have been 12 points of piercing damage. Elysia is also 20' underwater.
Like his sister, Adran waits for someone to appear, whereupon he will loose his weapon as well. Realizing that they won't arrive for several more seconds, Adran pulls the trigger intending to hit the transparent monster. The crossbow bolt disappears into the pool with a splash.
Faithfully sitting by the artificer's side, Mara waits for a command.
OOC:
In case the "at least ten seconds" wasn't clear, it will be round four or round three at the earliest that the Lord Mayor's Men come into view. Those of you who have prepared attacks for when they come into view during round two can revise your action to do something else this round if you wish.
The transparent liquid creature, either confident in its invisibility while in water or too stupid to do anything but attack when creatures remain in its lair, attacks Morik again. Morik is struck for 15 damage and is Grappled and Restrained again.

Edit: It is Eozindra's turn, and...
With the ease of long practice, Eozindra hauled back the arms of the crossbow and locked them into place, slotted a bolt into the channel, and loosed the bolt with a KA-CHUNK into the depths of the pool. Looking around for anything else that might be of help, she notices something about the shelves...

Elowin and/or Adran can amend their turns in case they misunderstood that the speaking residents will not come into view this round.

In addition, everyone except Eozindra can declare their round three turns, too.

Grandmother Moon, shining bright,
Guide me with your sacred light.
Reveal what hides in waters deep,
Protect my soul as I seek.
Give me strength to face my fear,
In your light, I hold you near.

Glancing back over her shoulder into the pit, Eozindra calls to her friends, "Maybe time to climb out of there?" and then attempts to release another shot at the unseen creature.
OOC:
Zin wouldn’t know that her bolt did nothing, so she would just try again. I just won’t bother rolling damage since it’s pointless.

Adran will see half the group in the water, and look back to the doorway, then back to the submerged combatants, then back to the doorway... before firing his hand crossbow (hopefully) at whatever unseen foe had pulled Morik in.

As seconds tick by, he will return to watching the door intently, ready to fire when the voices appear.

END OF ROUND TWO
With the ease of long practice, Eozindra hauled back the arms of the crossbow and locked them into place, slotted a bolt into the channel, and loosed the bolt with a KA-CHUNK into the depths of the pool. Looking around for anything else that might be of help, she notices something about the shelves...

Attacks on Morik continue to have ADV (from being Restrained AND from Faerie Fire), so no change there.
Too focused on the disappearance of his comrades to notice anything odd about the objects in the room, Adran looses a bolt into the deep.
Mara waits.

ROUND THREE
Meanwhile, deep underwater, Ishi attacks the unseen creature, cleaving the water in his fury. The creature takes 13 slashing damage.
Rolling over and over, thrashing in the monster's grip, Morik tries and fails to break the grapple.
Adran prepares to shoot the first person to appear in the archway to the south.
Mara awaits orders.
OOC:
What are Elowin and Elysia doing for round three?

Rolls

Ishi's DISADV for attacking a creature that is invisible AC9 while in water - (1d20+6)

(8) + 6 = 14

Creature DEX save DC13 - (1d20-3)

(7) - 3 = 4

OOC:
I figure if I’m gonna rp, I’m gonna roll for my ability to pick up on the damage fact.
Making the horrifying discovery that piercing weapons make no dent in this monster, Sia realizes that every weapon she has is practically useless. Sliding her rapier into its holder, a frustratingly slow process thanks to water resistance, she gestures up to the surface, encouraging Ishi and Morik to go up and out of the water before assisting the bear in breaking free.
OOC:
I’m not sure if helping him requires a strength roll or just allows him to roll advantage, but here’s the roll in case it’s needed.
