World Building talk

I like - so called - "let's play to see what happens" approach from PbtA games(but I'm not fan of mechanics). So not all in this world is set in stone and both campaigns that from IRL and here on GP will co-create the shared world. All of you are welcome to add your ideas of course during the play, especially for aspects that mainly connects with their characters.

So this thread is aimed at discussion about world building. Ask questions, but provide your ideas:)

OK, what do you think about this:
High mountains at the close border of the kingdom (or even at it's hart) are a territory where king's law does not work. Dwarf miners who live there keep their ancestor traditions and avoid technology. Mountain clans keep business with the kingdom, selling them minerals and ore.
Their clans were unite every time they had to repel invaders, but (since king don't want to conquer them any more and there are no other borderlands) clans are fighting each other over the better mines, power and influence....

Would something like this have place in this world and be where/how my PC end up away from him homeland doing the job not appropriate for a dwarf.

I’m general I like it, but now let’s add some details and hopefully make it more stone punk flavoured:
- I imagined that capital of the Kingdom is at the seaside, and even castle don’t walls at south side, as its area is literally touching the see and there is even a small port for royal ship and a lot of cannon like batteries. So the mountains on the north side of Country works for me. Maybe they work as natural border and the country is situated at big(country size) Peninsula,
- what do you mean by avoid technology? I would understand it that they don’t like Ancient’s technology, but probably they use dinos for their work? How? Are the dinos working in their underground (?) cities somehow different than those on surface?
- who was those invaders? What are general standings towards Kingdom from dwarven clans?
- I still don’t know why your dwarf has left his clan and ended at royal court? :)

V2:
There are mountains north of the kingdom where wild dwarf clans live and used to seldom plunder Kingdom's north settlements, but signed peace treaty with the Kingdom decades ago. Not all clans are happy with the treaty. The most brutal/powerful clan leader announced himself North King and conquer any clans who disagree with his plan to break treaty. My PC is the only of his clan to survive the brutal attack. He seeks to start a new life in the kingdom...

Let's forget about technology for the moment. How my PC ended at royal court is to be addressed in my PC thread.

Ok, moving this part to Established facts. Will have to tidy that thread at some moment, but don't have time for this now.
