This adventure combines the contents of the Lost Mines of Phandelver and the Dragon of Icespire Peak with a potential lead into Shattered Obelisk.
The Lost Mines of Icespire Peak
A dragon has set upon the Sword Mountains, but there's also gold in them mountains! Along with other treasures, ruins, monsters and loot.
Your (broad) task is to aid your employer, Gundren Rockseeker, in finding the long-forgotten and fabled mines of Icespire Peak, whilst also dealing with the ever-present danger of the new apex predator soaring the skies.
Gundren Rockseeker: A rugged dwarf with weathered features and salt-and-pepper muttonchops. He wears a leather vest over a buttoned shirt and a wide-brimmed leather hat that tucks over his hair, tied back with a leather strap.
He's down to earth and humble, though slightly prone to greed. Friendly and loyal.
You received a job from Gundren Rockseeker and his brothers, Tharden and Nundro. They need a few adventurers to escort a wagon load of mining equipment to the frontier town of Phandalin, some weeks east of Neverwinter. Among the cargo is a shipment of supplies for a trader in Phandalin named Barthen's Provisions, which is where Gundren promises to meet you with your payment of 10 gold each.
The excited dwarf went on ahead to Phandalin a day prior with a warrior as company.
This game is explicitly friendly to LGBT and any other minorities or marginalized groups.
System: D&D 5th Edition
Content Warnings:
An adult game with coarse language and descriptions of violence.
No sexual content or depictions of sexual violence.
No spiders.
Other content restrictions can be discussed when a player base has been established. Please feel free to DM me about any specific content triggers. I cannot promise to cater to everything but I can try.
Sources: All official sources are allowed.
Character Restrictions: Flying races are disallowed. All other official character races are allowed.
Alignment: This is a good campaign. Evil characters are allowed, but this is not an evil campaign. If you want to play an evil character, then please aim for an antihero rather than a villain.
Character Creation: Your character has met and possibly done jobs for Gundren Rockseeker in the past, aside from that, your backstory can be whatever you like. You can be anyone from anywhere, however, this campaign is based in Faerun so bear that in mind.
Non-Faerun character creation content is allowed but will be flavoured for Faerun.
Spelljammer content (whilst technically existing in Faerun?) will be flavoured as more typical Faerun.
Stat Generation:
Standard array
4d6 drop the lowest. Especially low arrays generated with this method can either choose to re-roll or use the standard array.
Post Frequency: I think that it would be reasonable to expect three posts a week, but I will be available for more. Players who cannot commit to at least that probably will be left behind and therefore not be a good fit.
Combat: Theatre of the mind.
Who can Apply: Experienced players and Newbies to both 5e and play-by-post are welcome, I am new to play-by-post myself and we can learn together!
My style of Dming:
I like to move things along and if I feel that the players are circling or directionless I will generally push the story along by saying something happens or you arrive at XYZ, etc. If you feel that I have done this prematurely or your character would have done something in the time I skip, feel free to interject and we can cycle it back.
On the spectrum of rules as written vs rule of cool, I'm very mid, leaning rule of cool. I will let the rules bend, but not break- and usually not in the same way more than once. You might be able to get away with a broken strategy once but don't rely on it!
My name is SHMKehoe, or SHM, whatever you like. I'm an experienced DM in 5e and I'm excited to start something new!
Thank you for your interest, and depending on reception I will leave this open until at least Saturday the 31st, to begin the game on Sunday the 1st.
I'll try to answer any questions in this thread, feel free to post some character concepts if you are interested!
