Question: once we will make camp here, will we be able to get back to it without re-making it, each time we leave the Cave?
Very likely. At the very least, it will be easier/faster the next time.

Also, you forgot about your gear bonus, but no need to roll, you succeed. =)
Springrise, 9th day.
Night

When Faramos drifts into sleep, Nindia takes her place on watch. She perches on a fallen log just outside the camp, her scimitar and newly repaired dagger close at hand, her eyes scanning the treeline for any signs of movement. The sounds of the forest are unnervingly still, the air heavy with the ever-present decay of the Whispering Woods.
OOC:
Nindia, restore your Strength. You have slept well.
Hours pass uneventfully, but just as Nindia begins to ease into the quiet, a faint rustle reaches her ears. Her body tenses, and her hand instinctively moves to her scimitar’s hilt. Out of the shadows, two figures emerge—orcs, moving with practiced stealth toward the camp. One orc holds a handaxe, while the other grips a shortbow. Their beady eyes glint with malice in the dim light, focused on the sleeping forms of Brenda and Faramos. Apparently, they didn't notice Nindia (yet).

What do you do?

Let me give you an image. Nindia is highlighted in yellow. =)

Faramos and Brenda are sleeping in the clearing/camp, an OPEN zone. There is no need to roll to MOVE into or towards it. Also, if a creature is in the same zone as another, it is in NEAR range.

White lines marks the zone borders. The outer, darker zones are ROUGH terrain. You must roll MOVE when you RUN into another rough zone or within ARMS LENGHT of someone in such zones. Failure means you managed to get into the zone, but you fall down. Also, if a creature is in another bordering zone (such as Nindia and the orcs), they are in SHORT range from one another.

Finally, if a creature is between two and four zones away, it is in LONG range.

OK let me know if you think this is would have very little chance to succeed, but that what I would like to happen narrative wise.
Looks like I can't qualify for AMBUSH. Not sure about SNEAK ATTACK mechanics though. Should I roll both SNEAK and MOVE and if I fail MOVE I end up face down at Orcs' feet?
Predator will become pray Nindia's pride makes her try to take care of those Orcs by herself, she can call and wake up friends at any time, but for now she slowly move to get behind the archer. It will be easy to kill Orc from behind while he is aiming a bow she believes.

Exactly. If it succeeds, though, it will be epic.

OOC:
Mechanically speaking I almost want to crawl there. That way I can't fall.
Assume it is -2 for sneak as I hope to get into arms length and I need to roll both at a time

ANd it is epic indeed LOL

Rolls

Move - (4D6, 1D6)

4D6 : (2452) = 13

1D6 : (4) = 4

Stealth -2 - (4D6, 1D6)

4D6 : (3135) = 12

1D6 : (3) = 3

Sep 6, 2024 3:03 pm
OOC:
You can push both of then and, if you fail, even invoke your PRIDE. Wanna risk?
Sep 6, 2024 3:23 pm
OOC:
Last time I pushed it ended very badly. OK, let's get really nasty with my PC :)

Rolls

Move push - (4D6, 1D6)

4D6 : (2511) = 9

1D6 : (3) = 3

Stealth push - (3D6, 1D6)

3D6 : (516) = 12

1D6 : (5) = 5

OOC:
You succeeded at the Stealth check, albeit taking 1 Agility damage but got 1 WP 2 damage. Stealth goes first, actually, Move goes after. So you had 4 Agility dice in your Stealth push. I am rolling for you the extra one.

Wanna invoke your Pride and roll an extra d12 for that MOVE? Either way, you will take another 1 dmg to Agility and receive 1 WP. Luckily, the last Agility die shouldn't have been rolled (you have just 3 after the Stealth push), so we will ignore that extra skull.

Either way, prone or not, you will be at ARM'S LENGTH. You also get a free action due to the Sneak attack (slow or fast, but not both) before we draw the initiative. Your target cannot DODGE or PARRY it and you can use WP to cause extra damage.

Edit: Added a strikethrough. See below for reasons.

Rolls

Nindia: Stealth push - missing die - (D6)

(3) = 3

Orcs: Scouting - (2d6, 2d6)

2d6 : (15) = 6

2d6 : (25) = 7

OOC:
I am obviously misunderstanding the rules, becuase
1. I rolled 1 on base dice of original stealth check. That 1 can not re re-rolled during the push
2. I rolled 3 more 1 during the push. It is total of 4 damage to Agility
[ +- ] Rules

Where is my mistake?
Sep 6, 2024 3:46 pm
OOC:
You're right about 1. I forgot about the original roll. The damage (point 2) is wrong though, because the order of the rolls are Stealth then Move (they are not really simultaneous).

Because of that, the last 2 dice for your pushed Move will never happen. You should have rolled 2d6, 1d6. But I don't want to reroll. We can always ignore those last two results. (So you rolled 2,5 and 3 with your Move push) Luckily, the wrong dice are the 2 skulls. =)

OOC:
Now I'm confused. I got 2 damage for pushing stealth. They don't hear me. So far so good. I'm still at near range though.

Now I try to move closer to them, but fail that. Why would that push never happen? Do you allow me to change my mind on the second push? In that case I spend my free action getting up and let's draw initiative.

Yup.

Your push happened... But with 2d6, 1d6 =) Your Agility was damaged after that Stealth push. So your results were 2, 5 (for Agility) and 3 (for Move). See your "Move push" roll, above, ignoring the last dice (it should not be 4d6).

Okay! You won the initiative, so you can describe that in your next post

Continues in my next post

Rolls

Initiative - Nindia - (2d10h1)

(78) = 8

Initiative - Brenda - (1d10)

(4) = 4

Initiative - Faramos - (1d10)

(1) = 1

Initiative - Orc (archer) - (1d10)

(2) = 2

Initiative - Orc (axe) - (1d10)

(2) = 2

Nindia’s pulse quickens, but she doesn’t hesitate. With silent precision, she slips from her perch and melts into the shadows, circling behind the orcs as they creep closer to her companions. Every step is calculated, her breath steady, and her focus razor-sharp.

She draws her dagger in one smooth motion and lunges, aiming for the orc's back. But in the dim light, her foot catches on a twisted root hidden beneath the mossy ground. With a muffled gasp, she stumbles forward and loses her balance, crashing to the earth. She lands hard, the damp soil clinging to her as she lies prone at the orc’s feet.

The archer, momentarily startled by the sudden noise, turns his beady, malicious eyes down at her.
OOC:
Nindia goes first. You have a free action from your Sneak attack (that you can use to attack or get up) and your regular round. Even with a failed Move, you are at ARM'S LENGTH.

With a loud girlish cry Nindia gets up and attack archer.

You're welcome! =D Feel free to ask whenever it is not. =)
Nindia lets out a loud, startled, almost girlish cry as she scrambles to her feet. In a rush of adrenaline, she grabs her scimitar and swings wildly at the orc archer looming over her. The blade whistles through the air, but the strike goes wide, slicing through nothing but darkness. The archer, with a sneer of amusement, sidesteps the attack and quickly retreats into the shadows, his bow already drawn.

As Nindia recovers from her missed strike, the other orc, hefting a rusted axe, charges at her with a savage growl. His heavy boots thud against the forest floor as he closes the distance. Nindia barely has time to react, raising her scimitar defensively as the axe swings down toward her.
OOC:
Nindia, roll for PARRY. "Orc 1" had 2 successes with his melee attack

"NINDIA!" Brenda’s shout pierces the chaos as she jolts awake, her instincts kicking in immediately. With a swift, practiced motion, she grabs her sword and shield, standing tall as she prepares to rush to her friend’s aid. But before she can run, the orc archer, now at a safer distance from Nindia, lets loose an arrow. The projectile whistles through the air and finds its mark—sinking deep into Brenda’s side.
OOC:
Brenda took 1 damage to Strength
She grunts in pain, staggering slightly but keeping her footing. Gritting her teeth, she rips the arrow out, blood staining her tunic. Her gaze hardens, locking onto the orc archer who fired the shot. With her shield raised and her sword gleaming in the faint firelight, Brenda gets ready to run despite the pain.

The battle is far from over.
OOC:
Faramos, what do you do?

Nindia barely has time to react, raising her scimitar defensively as the axe swings down toward her. The force of the blow sends a jarring shock up her arm, but she manages to deflect it, avoiding a fatal hit.

Faramos rises immediately from his laying on his back, from his bedroll on the sound of Nindia's cry. Still half a sleep, he felt for his staff lying next to the bed... only to open his eyes and become full awake on the sound of metal hitting metal...
"That wasn't a dream..."
Throwing his bedroll during his rushed standing up, he runs towards the sounds not looking back, trying not to trip over the rich vegetation of the forest and it's many roots...
OOC:
Rolling to get in rough terrain with orks and Nindia... wow! He is really good with handling this forest! ;)
Then he sees it: a big, brutish orc just after making a strong swing at parring - fortunately - Nindia. He instinctively attack the beast with a swing of his staff from above the head... aiming at its head.
"Not in my forest!"
OOC:
Mechanicaly: running, to their zoen, and attack at axe orc. Hopping for a good hit.

With a fierce determination in his eyes, Faramos swings the staff with all his strength, the wood cracking against the orc’s back with a dull thud.

The orc grunts in pain, stumbling forward from the impact, but it’s not enough to bring him down. The creature turns, his snarling face twisted with rage as he glares at Faramos.

Nindia uses this opportunity to...

I will assume Nindia had weapon in both of her hands when sneaking upon Orcs so clumsy. Using both quick and slow
Parrying the attack Nindia get back her confidence and go into full counterattack
