Mash up between LMoP and DoIP and its extensions with a dash of PC backstories thrown in too. This will be a campaign so be in it for the long haul if you apply. Lvls 1-13 at least and with luck.

To begin, in the city of Neverwinter, a dwarf named Gundren Rockseeker hired you to bring a wagonload of provisions to the rough-and-tumble settlement of Phandalin, a couple of days’ travel southeast of the city of skilled hands. Gundren was clearly excited and more than a little secretive about his reasons for the trip, saying only that he and his brothers had found "something big," and that he’d pay you ten gold pieces each for escorting his supplies safely to Barthen’s Provisions, a trading post in Phandalin. He then set out ahead of you on horse, along with a warrior escort named Sildar Hallwinter, claiming he needed to arrive early to "take care of some business."

The party has spent the last few days following the High Road south from Neverwinter, and you’ve just stoped for the night at the Wayside Inn and will awaken ready to head east down the Tribor Trail toward Phandalin and adventure.

Character Creation

Create your PC with the PHB (other official content upon discussion, but most likely fine) at lvl 1 with the premade D&D 5e character sheet or a custom one that has the same info. We are going to do standard array with one feat, so no variant human cus you’d get two feats. Use the regular class starting equipment, let me know if you are wanting something else and we’ll see. No evil PC’s for group cohesion. Have general ideas in regards to backstory but we’ll work on it in forum too, (I’m going to be doing some weaving into the plot with backstories). No flying races.

Please included your character ideas and we’ll go from there. I'll leave this open for a few days, maybe a week, then send out invitations.

I was thinking the same thing, a lot of players seem to want to play these modules, and so do I. I've been wanting to play a Hill Dwarf Cleric of the Light, who has found his refuge with Lathander, called Thoram Drunkbrow. Quick to trust, optimistic, eager guy, ready to bring light in de darkness. Either by casting Light on his trusty shortsword and shield, or making those around him shine brighter through his guidance and compliments.

So, as was my idea for the other game I'd still be interested in an undead (race) Hexblade Warlock/Paladin who did some bad things in life and was cursed with undeath to atone for the life he lived.

I do have other ideas, if you don't want to use a race from Van Richten's, a background from Book of Many Things, and a class from Xanathar's. We have options.

I am definitely interested in joining this adventure. I've been wanting to play a druid for a while, eventual Circle of Moon and focus on shape shifting.

Raven was always an odd boy, from the moment he mysteriously wandered into a small farming village as a toddler, talking to the various dogs, cats and other animals along the way. He had a habit of staring at people without blinking or speaking, many complained it was unnerving and unnatural. Some claimed he had an old soul, maybe not a human one.

No one knew where he had come from, wandered out of the forest some said, wasn't really human others whispered. Adopted by an older farm couple, mentored by the local witch, Raven has learned about the forest, nature and magic, but still doesn't know whether he is just an odd duck (maybe literally) or something else.

I'd like to pitch a character, but it also uses non-PHB options if approved. I'd like to play a Simic Hybrid, Path of the Beast Barbarian. The idea is she used to just be a sellsword wandering the world looking for work, like guarding supply shipments, when she was kidnapped by a cult. They experimented on her, grafting flesh from a primordial beast on and into her. They didn't realize how far they had gone. The Beast's rage overtook the woman, she slaughtered most of the cult as she blindly tore her way out of the compound. Several days later she awoke, lost and unable to find her way back to the place they had taken her. She found civilization again and has done her best to return to her old way of life, but The Beast remains. And every time she gives into it's battle lust, she feels it grow stronger. She fears what it means, but secretly revels in the power she didn't have before.

I think a traveling bard would be great. Let's do it. :) He has been down on his luck and needed a job.

I'm pretty sure you'll need a ranger, and I'm happy to provide one. And, for some reasons, I've never played an elven ranger, so that's what I'm offering.

Very short background: he loves the forest, no mistake, but after a few centuries of wandering in it he wants to see (and taste, and smell, and feel) more of the world. Not the lonely ranger brooding with his hood drawn low, but a lively fellow happy to sing, dance, and fight when necessary.

Human wizard, rudimentary backstory of apprenticeship with Silverymoon's Conclave, specifically the Map House. This might take some liberties, but a rough idea of being sent to Neverwinter to join the Rockseekers and document a map of their findings. If that's too meta, they could be an aspiring wizard who wants to join the Conclave and hopes a map of the Rockseekers' claim will prove useful to the Map House.

Totally understand if you're already full!

I would like to try a Dragonborn wizard flavoured as a lizard-man adopted into a human/elven upper-class family from some swamp or bogland. In terms of goals, he's looking for any excuse to delve into places that might hold magic items or spells as the arcane fascinates him- anything differing from the mundane he will be interested in.

As for links to the Rockseeker brothers or Gundren more specifically, the upper-class family may deal with gems or precious stones and metals- having a fondness for shiny things the character is often the upper-class family's point of contact for the Rockseeker brothers and can be familiar with and even close friends with one of the brothers if that's allowed.

As I said, completely understand if you're full already. No worries!
Edit to add: If it makes a difference, I am also running a LMoP and DoIP crossover on here, so I will be familiar with the content. I'm confident it won't affect my gameplay- but worth mentioning.

I might be late, and I'd be using non phb stuff, but there has not been a monk suggestion yet, so I'd like to throw in an Astral Self Monk Tortle, based a little bit on ooway from Kung Fu Panda.

Hi, @Arrcher101. This is the campaign you teased before? If so, yes, definitely interested, but may not have a character concept/idea until tomorrow.

Wizards are much less squishy in 5e than any other edition, but it seems as if we have one. We also seem to have a monk, a bard, a druid, and a ranger. So we could use a rogue or a fighter. I'm comfortable running either. My preference, if the stats allow, is the rogue, which for you @Arrcher101, will be similar to the one I was running in "Without a Compass"—without the backstory that made it complicated :)—eventually to turn into swashbuckler. Otherwise a fighter --> battlemaster. I could run a cleric too if needed, which would likely be a near copy of the one I'm running in Forest Problems (Human Male cleric of Selûne).

Is there one which you feel would enhance the campaign or should I just start rolling?

More thought: Male Shifter (Longtooth) Bard Ex-Criminal. Looking for a new start.

We are using standard array with one feat. So any of these that you suggested would be fine.I would say whatever one you would like to play more.

OK, for time being, I'll go with a rogue.

Race: Human
Class: Rogue (would like swashbuckler from SCA/Xanathar at 3 if I survive that long)
Background: Entertainer - Fencing specialist (Trick fencing, knife throwing, blindfolded, etc.)
Basic Backstory: A rake and rapscallion who lives by his wits and his sword, although he knows his way around a trap and a lock and a wall as well. Good-hearted but prone to the occasional larcenous action, if the greater good demands it. The greater good can be somewhat…elastic (CG, I reckon). Means well, loves life, loves (most) people, and loves adventure. In the style of Errol Flynn (but actually talented)/Basil Rathbone (but good)/Danny Kaye (yes, the comedian played this role often as well). Fuller story to be fleshed out as needed (went to a top-notch salle but left due to money issues, maybe? For a while supported his lessons via "professional acquisition services"?)

We have an open spot in the party if anyone is interested please post a character idea. I’ll leave this open for a few days before deciding.

Do you have room for a dwarf paladin or cleric? I'd like to be one of the Rockseeker's cousins that has come to check on the adventurers' progress.

I would like to submit a tiefling battle master.

Elysia Emberforge, a tiefling Battle Master, once served a dark cult but now channels her skills into the forge and the battlefield as a personal path to redemption. She wields a massive, self-forged two-handed weapon with precision and control, using tactical maneuvers to protect her allies and dominate her enemies. Each strike is a step away from her past and a testament to her relentless pursuit of atonement.

This all assuming she survives long enough to see the subclass.

I have played a little bit in these modules but haven’t finished anything.
