Question: we changed the Bounty on the sheet, so presumably we won't use that. How is Grit recovered, then?

maybe GM-awarded for good roleplaying/stunts, like the bennies in SWADE?
Yes we will !

Howdy y'all. Allow me to introduce a cowpoke comrade:

Seth Calhoun is the eldest son of a branch of a (formerly) prominent family of South Carolina. Seth was the Captain of Company ā€˜Cā€™ (the Calhoun Troop) of the 4th South Carolina Cavalry Regiment in the Confederate Army of North Virginia.

Seth (born 1842), son of John (born 1812), served under his father during the Civil War from the tender age of 18. As I write, Seth will be coming up to his 37th birthday. Company 'C' was largely wiped out four years ago at the Battle of Second Bentonville in which Seth suffered serious injuries and received an honourable discharge Thereafter, the remnants of the company, along with Seth's siblings, headed west, away from the war.

As a child, Seth received a fine classical education and became fascinated by Virgil's Aeneas. So much so, in fact, that his personal credo directly derives from the great Roman: Audentes fortuna iuvat (Fortune favours the bold).

Nestor Rodriguez's skills with animals and a revolver landed him a job as vaquero with a bright future at one of the big haciendas near the Texas-Mexico border. However, he and the owner's daughter fell in love and began to see each other in secret. The owner found out and ran Nestor off saying that his daughter would not end up marrying a lowly vaquero. Word of this spread and he was unable to hire on at any of the other haciendas, so he left for new territories and a fresh start.

Question for the Marshall: Although the player characters know Texas Ranger Larson, are they supposed to know each other? I got the impression that we're meeting for the first time.

Be careful over there... with the hurricanes and the election... ;) Since your celebrating the Canadian Thanksgiving, I wish you a good one to you and your loved ones! ;)

Hi! I'm struggling with the pacing of this game. I'm not that familiar with PbP yet so I didn't realize that I prefer things to move a little more quickly. So I am going to drop out of the game. Sorry for any inconvenience.

A bit of constructive criticism on the game:

I like the premise of the game, but I am starting to feel disengaged with it. The pace is slow (which is fine in PbP), and when a GM post happens, it is very short and telegraphic, not giving me a sense of place or colourful character situations to engage with.
Longer posts, an image to set the scene, a funny NPC dialogue could really help here.

It could be down to GMing style, in which case maybe this is not the game for me.

I can see this is having an effect on other players too, and we already have lost one player. Would like to give the game a chance, I think being honest and voicing what is not quite working could be a good start? Thoughts?

You are right and thanks for your positive feedback. I'm sorry. I'm kinda struggling with this new format (PbP) and to be honest, english is not my first language (but I think you already saw that). I tought I would be easier to run a Weird West game, but I realize that it's not the right setting for me.

OK, I guess we'd better stop the game, then
