There are discontented nobles in Zul-Bazzir who conspire against the padishah of Khazistan. In the lamp-lit sitting rooms of their marble-walled mansions, they scheme and plot to overthrow the great king’s governor, Khadim Bey, and to seize control of Zul-Bazzir. Whispers of treason have reached the bey’s ears, but as yet the traitors remain nameless and unknown. To aid the governor, the padishah has sent a personal agent to Zul-Bazzir, to help infiltrate and identify the disloyal nobles.

We will use Ouroboros d12 for rules.

Your characters will be a group of venturers unaware of the situation (as the personal agent is covert), who get dragged into it sideways.

Hi. I'd like to run a campaign set in the World of Xoth. I'd like to use Ouroboros d12 for rules.

Here's the teaser for the first scenario:
Quote:

Intent is PG-13 / T rated material. Definitely not R / M rated.

I love the World of Xoth! Definitely a Conan-feeling world. I need to look at Ouroboros d12 for the rules though, but count me interested.

I would be very interested. Never played this system before. Sounds like fun. I grew up reading Conan books in the 70s and 80s.

Also, would this be PBP or something you're trying to run on discord?

I love Conan style settings. Would PCs then be the agents of the great king/padishah sent to help Khadim Bey the governor?

Sorcerer'ess might be interesting in that game.

Just finished reading Red Nails the other day and would not mind some good old S&S. I have to say, I know nothing about Xoth and just briefly skimmed through some of the player guide PDFs you linked. It looks interesting, although the use of the term "race" to differentiate the different civilizations did make me cringe a fair bit.

I am also a big fan of minimalist systems and something D12 based seems like a nice change from the D20 domination. But I am not sure I really get it. It seems to me that there are very specific stat rolls that are better than other, higher, rolls. Like: a total of 19 would be much better than a total of 20 as you get 20 extra points. or a 9,9,9 would be better than a 10,10,10 as you get advantages. Maybe I am overthinking/misunderstanding it.

If you get a total of 19 or less, then instead, you get 20 points to distribute. So it is not really 20 "extra" points but rather 20 points substituted for 19 or less.

Yes, three 9s are better than three 10s in *some* ways for specific things that you have an advantage. But for anything else the 10s would be better.

It seems like we have plenty of interest, so I will set up a Game and invite people.

You will not be royal agents, but rather, a group of venturers who get dragged into the situation sideways.

I was kind of thinking a sorceress or sorcerer too. I'm guessing the magic system is based on the original Ouroboros?

I really have no idea. Just a thought I had. Recall they seem neat in the movies.

As it says in the linked rules, we can discuss Magic to come up with something you like - there's not a requirement that everyone use the same sort of magic. Basic concept though will be that you test LK to do something, and ifyou fail the test, it still happens but you're HURT and if you try again while you're HURT then you're DYING with what that entails. You can try Magic without a relevant advantage but obviously you will be safer if you have an advantage.

Some possible magic advantages are "calling" devils, "casting" spells, "charming" people, "enchanting" objects ...
