OOC:
I forgot focus spells require a roll every round. I think we will just say they dont last between rooms unless you want to make a dozen or so checks lol.
Unrolling the scroll reveals a similar recipe, more powerful but more dangerous:

If you wish to flee the Castle,
Perhaps my offer is worth the hassle.
To leave this game, first make a stew
with pinkish hue from my sister's brew.
The second of many of my requests,
add speckled egg from mother's nest.
Another ingredient for my brew's power,
The Queen who lives on icing tower.
The next component, if you dare,
the noose which hung the maiden fair,
Now add this in, if you can task it,
The signet ring from Dark Lord's casket.
One last thing, a piece of you,
but blood or hair won't simply do.
An eye, a tooth, a finger or two,
should be enough to bring you through.

Ok. So we’ve found the path of the enchanter. I don’t like that last part, though. If the enchanter’s cost is a finger or two, what is the doorman’s cost?? That being said, do we use this mystical pot to explore other paths or do we start collecting ingredients? For that matter do each of us have to collect separate ingredients or can we collect one set and then just add our own teeth? Clarence was not giving up anything that would affect his looks or his ability to lift weights.

Clarence says:
If the enchanter’s cost is a finger or two, what is the doorman’s cost
"Probably that we became vampires ourselves. I am even willing to lose a body part, but not to turn myself into a monster. This path is closed to me. Anyway, I think we should get back and move upstairs. Unless someone have the Eye of Newt? I would like to see the tower. "

I, too, want to see the tower. I believe the tower has elements of three paths: The Raven who offers a "lofty escape", the Enchanter herself, who requires "the Queen who lives on icing tower", and possible the sword of the final path, which may be found in "a place of great heights—where the stone itself beats with life." I'm sure there is an eye of newt in these ingredients. But what did the enchanter mean bv a "minor cost"? It has to be less than a tooth, which is required for her path.

Scanning the shelves of bottles, you can see every required ingredient for the recipe to move about the tower.

Varos looks at Clarence "You don't want to pluck out an eye? Yes let's continue on to the tower."

"I agree that we should continue to the tower. We only have 2 hours left by the toll of the bells and who knows what other tricks this place will play on us."

As they begin walking, he adds "I must say, losing a tooth sounds much better than an eye..."

You toss in the eye of newt. The cauldron's contents change color to grey, then pink, then purple. It bubbles and toils and probably troubles. A thick gas cloud roils out of it and rapidly fills up the entire room, obscuring all vision. The cloud stings your eyes and burns your lungs. You hack and cough. Your eyes water. Your skin prickles. It's hard to breathe. It hurts to breathe.

Then the cloud dissipates. But the pain and discomfort remain.

You find yourself in a new room, high atop the castle. Now that you have left the basement you can hear a storm howling outside, the constant sheets of rain sound like sizzling meat. A bolt of lightning brightens the sky through a large circular window nearly ten feet across giving you a view of the enormous castle below you and the misty forest that surrounds it.

Your room is about fifty feet to a side. Below the large single window lies a glass coffin. Inside is a beautiful maiden with flaxen hair and ivory skin. Her neck is marred by purple bruising all around it. A rose of gold and ruby lies on her bosom, clasped in both hands.

On the opposite side of the room is a large iron chest, two feet long, with three locks in a row.

In the center of the room is a spiral staircase that descends the tower and into the castle proper.
OOC:
Everyone takes 5 damage from the witch's brew. I'm pasting this in a new thread for being in a different part of the castle as well, so continue the adventure over there.
