The Castle - Floor 4

The party descends the spiral staircase for a minute. You reach a landing. An open doorway rests in the western wall. The stairs continue deeper down into the castle. On the bottom step of the stairs sits a black cat with violet eyes blocking your way. It meows. Coincidentally your candle has reached the end of its fuel supply and gutters out.

Well, it's good I have one and a half more candles and five more matches, said Clarence as he lights the second full taper. Bending down, he looks the cat right into its deep violet eyes. The noble cat is a mysterious and knowledgeable creature. All cats are part sphinx, just as all sphinxes are part cat. What is it you want from us, felicitous feline?
OOC:
I still have four matches and the half of the black illusion candle left. We need more light sources.

Before Clarence can light the next candle, Anton stays his hand. "Wait, it would be wise to keep those for a moment we have no other source of light." He then observed how the cat responded to Clarence's words.
OOC:
Not sure we need two sources of light at the moment, and Anton might later fail to call forth the divine light. I suggest we not burn those candles until they are needed.

The cat meows in response to Clarence and descends the stairs down into the castle, away from the tower where the raven resides.

"The cat has found the bird to be too big to hunt!" Gregory remarks, though he furrows his brow at Clarence’s theory.

"Are we really going to follow a cat? Maybe the cat is a diversion."

"No, let's enter the doorway."

Beyond the doorway is the outside of the castle. A narrow stone footbridge crosses into the far tower. Wind and rain lash this small bridge. In the lightning flashes, you can see the roof of the raven's nest a few dozen feet below the bridge. A closed arched wooden door is on the far side of the bridge.
OOC:
It'll be a Dex check to walk across. I'm open to any creative ways you'd like to use as well.

Satisfied the cat had not turned into a further obstacle, Anton was eager to act on Frac's suggestion and explore the adjoining room.

Gregory wastes no time in trying to cross the space! He takes a precarious moment to look down at the nest, before continuing on to the door! As he goes, he beckons the others to follow!

Beckoning the others to follow proved to be Gregory's downfall, quite literally. A strong gust of wind unbalances him and his next step on the wet footbridge slides over the edge. Gravity does its brutal work and sends Gregory plummeting down 30 feet onto the peaked roof below.
OOC:
10 damage to Gregory. As you are still up with 1 hit point, make another Dex check to not slide off the peaked roof as well lol.

With the raging storm, the others don’t even hear the scream that leaves Gregory as he falls off the walkway!

He lands with a terrible thud, but the roof is slick! The wizard has no time to pay close attention to the pain coursing through his very being!

He clambers up and grasps at the wet roof, trying to find purchase! The others are too far above to hear him, even if he were to plead for help!

Gregory gets the wind knocked out of him and feels more than a few bones break. He inhales sharply and almost chokes on the rain pelting his face. He sees the raven peeking out of its large spherical nest, jet black eyes calculating and intelligent. But there is no time as Gregory slides down the peaked roof in a torrent of rain and dead leaves, sailing off the edge of the roof and into the wide open air. He plunges down, down, down into the mist...

OOC:
RIP Gregory.

Anton's eyes could not believe what they were seeing. His fellow follower of Madeera seemed to be taken by the winds and cast down with horrid might. "Gregory!", he gasped, in an action as futile as it was self-centred.
OOC:
Doesn't Gregory have a luck token? We're all supposed to have one, no?

OOC:
Yes he does. Make sure to write it on your sheet. Would you like to use it @KCC?
