Initial game discussion and expectations

Oct 10, 2024 5:44 pm
I'll let Cathamber drive, but this thread is intended for genre discussions and so forth.
Cathamber says:
Wow! That was fast!
Thanks for the interest!

So far, the initial DM to take up the challenge of teaching us, if you choice to accept it, would be Qralloq. With a possible/future follow-up by Rpg.veteran.
And the PCs' actors, in order if appearance, would be Cathamber, Aline, Gentleman, Mathias0077 and Phil_Ozzy_Fer.

Qralloq, if it is OK with you, I'd appreciate you creating the actual game thread (and inviting the rest), so we can start talking (and voting?) on how to build this idea into something fun and manageable.

I left the Genre (fantasy, sci-fi, supers, detective or other) open for conversation, so we should talk about that first. So we can then create PCs and the setting. I'd prefer to talk and vote it within the game thread, to keep this invitation clean. Of course, once that is voted and decided, I'll be back to share the conclusion.

I'm not closing this invitation yet, because, if us 5 can't fully agree on genre (or some enters another game before this one starts) an opening may appear. So it's basically waiting list after this post ;) Again, pending on DMs approval.

I FINALLY am going to get the chance to play FATE! I'm looking forward to this. Thank you for being willing to run it Qralloq.

For the type of game, I'm open to a lot of different stuff, but I'd prefer we don't do anything that even sort of smells like it might be epic fantasy. I don't know FATE very well so I'm not sure what it lends itself well to.

Maybe something sci-fi, or since we're close to Halloween, paranormal investigators? Just throwing this out there to get the ball rolling.
Oct 11, 2024 1:54 am
Yes, thank you for the invite and chance to learn a new game. I also have no idea what this system has in store or would be best but am open to new. Sci-fi sounds pretty cool. Paranormal investigators investigating the house of Michael Myers of Camp Crystal Lake and Jason Vorhees?
Oct 11, 2024 2:05 am
Paranormal investigators at Camp Crystal Lake? That could be fun. My idea was sillier. I was thinking of the so-called "real" ghost hunters that make it look like a reality TV show when they're in abandoned structures. When I've seen that stuff, I always wonder what would happen if they found a real ghost. In my mind, our game could be that outcome.
Oct 11, 2024 2:14 am
Thanks a lot Qralloq!
My goal is to give Fate Core a try, as simple as it sounds.
Having said that, the very few important things for me are in the initial invitation... Everyone invited here already kind of agree on those.
As for a genre, I'm open to any. Now, I'm currently in a Fantasy game and in a Sci-fi game, so I have a slight preference not to repeat those two here. I'd kind of prefer supers, detectives, spies... But I'm happy to go with the majority here.
Also, since Qralloq will be DMing, I feel it is critical that Qralloq feels comfortable with the genre.
Oct 11, 2024 3:33 am
Woot. Hmm. Lets see. :) So much fun. Thanx.
Oct 11, 2024 3:33 am
I'm comfortable with any genre. My vaguely formed idea stopped shortly after the word: Muppets.

Muppet paranormal investigation?

Ready for some adventure. Just finished watching all of the Snowpiercer shows (4 Years worth) & Wyonna Earp.

Muppet Paranormal Investigation?
I keep thinking about Animal trying to explain his research conclusion as fast as possible to get to his band's next gig...
https://youtu.be/qisaGTajtvk?feature=shared

Against all expectations, Animal does have experience as private detective: He solved the Mysterious Case of the Rabbit's Disappearence some time ago:
https://youtu.be/Hqg3PMWrJ78?feature=shared

I love this character! And his drums' skills!
Oct 11, 2024 8:46 am
Okay based on the above, here's my pitch.
Premise:

Your team of paranormal investigators is hired to investigate Lakeshore Haven, a summer lake resort that was abandoned after a brutal mass murder twenty years ago. The site has since become the subject of urban legends and unexplained phenomena, drawing in curious investigators. Strange sightings, eerie sounds, and disappearing locals near the lake have reignited interest in the location, and your team has been called in to uncover the truth behind the haunting.

What do you think? Multi Public

Agree to the Pitch, spooky atmosphere
Agree to the Pitch, investigators are Muppets
Prefer a different pitch for the investigators (will post preferences)
Prefer a different genre (will post preferences)
Oct 11, 2024 8:59 am
I won't be able to use this ninja/shinobi character I had, this is way different from any game I've played before, furthermore using a new sytem, and I feel is risky to get into this rabbit/Muppet hole... I'd love to try it!

It somehow feels to me like a Muppets meet Scooby Doo. Maybe with bits of cartoonist Ghost Busters.. does this makes sense to you Qralloq? Am I getting it right?
Oct 11, 2024 12:42 pm
There are lots of games designed to handle paranormal investigation. Call of Cthulhu, Delta Green, Kult: Divinity Lost... There are not very many that could handle PCs who are puppets.

Fate is complete enough to handle most anything. Unusual characters with difficult to describe abilities or characteristics, I think Fate would just enable that well. But who knows?

That being said, without complete buy in from the players, playing Muppets could be awkward. The tone Cathamber suggests is kind of what I had in mind for Muppets, but it would be fun to play spooky horror too.
Oct 11, 2024 1:09 pm
I believe I have never watched Muppets, so I wouldn't know what the tone of the proposed game would be like. I'm fine with paranormal investigation, with the caveat that I would like to request no 'gods' or demons be involved, for religious reasons.
Oct 11, 2024 1:37 pm
Second the notion on what Muppets are. (Also never seen Muppets.) Anything can be fun. Scooby Doo is interesting. Lake alligators. Hello Fredy.

For the "Muppets " to work, everyone should known them enough... since already 2 players mentioned that they don't know them, I think we should leave that idea for other game.

I also agree with Gentleman NOT to involve spiritual beings on this spooky concept, for religious reasons.

...with my luck, I don't get a car, so have to ride as copilot in your rental, AND share the bill.

But... would it be a car? Or a Mystery Machine Dodge A-100 van?

Thinking about vans, this could be a music band van so the detectives use a 'we are a rock band' cover?... Or maybe not.

OR... maybe we are talking about 007 kind of detectives, so each get a different car with hidden gadgets everywhere?

What if the group has a chartered vehicle that just drops them off places? It could be like "Survivor," where people just sort of have to last until the next pickup.

No problem for the Muppets. It's a fun idea, but it can shelved. If it happens, I want dibs on Statler and Waldorf.

Also, I'm enjoying this dialogue. Keep the ideas flowing!

Zoot was my man on the muppets. Smooth sax player. I would imagine if we were a group together we would have some sort of van to haul our gear. Maybe like the A-Team van. My cousin had a replica we were in HS. Cruised in that bad boy a lot. It eve had red shag carpet on the inside.
Oct 11, 2024 11:36 pm
A Van does sound enterprising. Hmm. Band?
Oct 12, 2024 7:28 am
Yes! Exactly like a A-Team van!
If we wanna move forward with the music band cover, I want dibs on the bass player :)
Oct 12, 2024 12:22 pm
It seems like a great spot to be starting character creation. This is a collaborative process, so let's each do the first step: consider our High Concept and Trouble, then come up with a name.
[ +- ] High Concept
[ +- ] Trouble
Oct 12, 2024 1:16 pm
Ripping along on a keyboard is a nice option. And a bottle of whiskey for added trouble. You want a sound, well he's the one to do it. He has very keen hearing.

Winks. Although a horn man sounded cool, but Cathamber has the dib. We would need a band name. Winks. And a band van.

Thanks Gene! A keyboard sounds great (both the idea of your character playing it, and how I imagine you playing it).

But before the name... What kind of music is the band playing? Is it rock, blues, jazz, reggae, ska, funk... ?

So, this is the first time I approach FateCore, let's get to it:
High Concept:
Freelance expert hacker, loose member (and black sheep) of Anonymous returning to his highschool music band as Bass Player. Competent lockpicker and in cryptology.

Trouble:
He needs to put on hold his cyber security career because Mr. Mask (on of the national leaders of Anonymous) blames him for a job that went terribly bad... Plus, he never learned to fight.

Edit:
As bass player in RL, I do enjoy lots of different music styles, but lately I've been playing funk and I could TOTALLY play that in-game.

Maybe like a Foreinger tribute band or something along that line? We can have bass, keyboard, sax (Which I would like to claim) then guitarist and drummer are still open. How many players do we have?
Oct 12, 2024 10:28 pm
There are five players. @Phil_Ozzy_Fer and @Gentleman , are you okay with the traveling band schtick?
Oct 12, 2024 11:04 pm
Hey Mathias0077, that's a great idea! But not only Foreigner used sax (or a wind instrument). You can easily add classics like Supertramp and Jethro Tull.

Furthermore, several prog rock bands, like Kansas, can easily arrange keyboard or guitar parts for wind section to play.

Anyhow, Qralloq is right. What does Gentleman and Phil_Ozzy_Fer think of this all?

So, if I understood correctly we are a band (that first formed in high-school and is being reunited?), but are we already investigators or are we just about to become ones due to whatever mystery is afoot?
Anyway, I got a concept.

High Concept: Ex-Con Dad of All Trades
Trouble: Kinda Dumb/Too Smart
Aspect: I Will Make My Son Proud
Aspect: Ultimate Handyman With a Nice Voice
Aspect: Wannabe Detective Kid

So he's a dad with a tag-along kid. In his high school days he was a vocalist and/or the player of whatever instrument the band needed at the time. Was a troublemaker who had kid way too young, then had a stint in prison (maybe because of something to do with drugs), then had his kid dumped on him by his uncaring mother as soon as he was out of prison. Struggled hard to raise the kid with his mother's (kid's grandma) help, worked any odd job he could find, could never get a decent job due to being an ex-con, but is somehow making this "dad" thing work thus far.

Stimulates his kid (of unspecified age) to study hard and keep away from trouble, unlike he did, so he won't end up like him. Is ashamed of his past and his current inability to provide better than the basics for his kid. Really wants to make his kid proud of him. The kid is already more proud of his dad than he realizes, but he's too awkward to say it out aloud.

The kid does really well in school, but he might a be a bit too smart for his own good. He likes mystery novels and says he wants to be a detective when he grows up. Expressed interest in music and his dad's past band, so the dad brought him with him to meet his old band buddies during summer break or some other free time.

Yes I have never played a modern type game. All have been fantasy based so don't know ability type stuff for stunts.
Oct 14, 2024 12:32 am
So, what Skills are y'all picking? Thus far I have only decided to have Crafts at +4, Physique and Will at +1 at least. Is it alright to put Academics rather than Lore in the sheet? (Academics is a Condensed skill, which is like Core's Lore but limited to non-magical stuff). Skills I'm also gonna pick but dunno at what rating: Investigate, Athletics, Fight, Stealth, Rapport, maybe Empathy

A question for our good GM: what would be the right Skills to use when trying to amicably interrogate someone? Or perhaps not so amicably, but falling short of threats (Provoke)? I ask this because I want to write a Stunt that makes it easier for my char's kid to get answers from people due to him seeming cute and harmless when questioning them, and I'm not sure what Skill to associate it with.

Hmm. Skills: Physique for drinking, Crafts for hardware, Investigate for chess, Empathy to feel the crowd

Just some thoughts.
Oct 14, 2024 4:18 am
Skills according to the Fate Core book:
1 skill at Great (+4)
2 skills at Good (+3)
3 skills at Fair (+2)
4 skills at Average (+1)
Are we using this rule? Or do we get less at starting point?

If this is the case, my first draft would be:
Great +4 Engineering
Good +3 Burglary, Stealth
Fair +2 Resources, Investigate, Lore
Average +1 Contacts, Academics, Shoot, Will

Thus, Owen can be the one creating gadgets (or machines), operating computers, opening whatever someone thought was safely closed and is overall sneaky. Under 'lore' he has read plenty about paranormal stuff.
Not good with people though, nor with fighting or driving.

Hahaha, definitely not driving Russian!
He would be sitting in the last row, either reading a paranormal book, creating a new gadget, or writing a new bass riff with his bass guitar (although not plugged to amps).

Sure enough, the Russian would be driving the van, perfectly save after his 7th whiskey, or vodka, or.. what WERE you drinking now?

Could be too that he doesn't do well with American driving laws but has a license to kill. VODKA! Kills all you're ails.
Oct 14, 2024 5:30 am
Blue DOES appreciate good vodka! Although he will not drink half as much as Huerago.

But, about American driving laws. Which country in America are you referring to? (Blue rolls Academics) America is a huge continent and he'd say each has it's own laws...
Oct 14, 2024 7:13 am
So, what do we have planned so far?
Oct 14, 2024 9:00 am
Hey Draco,

We got into the rabbit hole of Qralloq's premise heads on:

Our team of paranormal investigators is hired to investigate Lakeshore Haven, a summer lake resort that was abandoned after a brutal mass murder twenty years ago. The site has since become the subject of urban legends and unexplained phenomena, drawing in curious investigators. Strange sightings, eerie sounds, and disappearing locals near the lake have reignited interest in the location, and your team has been called in to uncover the truth behind the haunting.

Expanding the concept: The team is a reuniting music band, originally from high school, moving around in a van.

Now we are partly creating (and partly discovering I'd say) our characters.
Feel free to read the PC's drafts so far, and start your own.
Oct 14, 2024 10:03 am
I own a van so will be driver. It is souped up because I still cruise the strip like we did back in the day. Plus I am only really a beer drinker so no probs there.
Oct 14, 2024 12:13 pm
If @Cathamber wants to take Engineering +4, I suppose I should review my character concept...? Or would +4 Crafts not be redundant...?
Oct 14, 2024 1:46 pm
Hi Gentlemen,
Sorry, I didn't noticed.
I'm trying to give Blue the normal Computer engineering background skill, the would include electronics and electric topics... But there are many more topics under 'enginwering' and under 'craft' that are not covered in Blue's education or practice. So they are not necessarily redundant.
From 'handyman' I understood your character knows more about fixing general stuff, as in house's plumbing and electric system, carpentry, metalwork, even cars... I guess both characters do share some aspect of general electricity. But Blue, ignorant on carpentry or cars, would know about security systems, cameras, gadgets, programming, robots...
That makes sense to you?

Draco, Phil's character has some muscle I'd say, being a security guard (or maybe one of those fat guys always looking a the camera screens? hehehe, probably ex-cop?). I guess he will describe his PC. But feel free to build another melee brawler, or frojlore expert, or a combination. Whatever suits you!

Your skills form a pyramid, with a single skill rated at Great (+4)—which is referred to as the peak skill—and more skills at each lower rating on the ladder going down to Average (+1):

Two Good (+3) skills
Three Fair (+2) skills
Four Average (+1) skills

So are we using the sheet at the top of this thread or the one on GP?
Oct 15, 2024 1:24 am
Huerago went with.

Skills: 18 of them available.
+4 Great: Lore
+3 Good: Deceive, Notice
+2 Fair: Burglary, Resources, Will
+1 Average: Contact, Drive, Stealth, Empathy
+0 Unranked: Athletics, Crafts, Fight, Investigate, Physique, Provoke, Rapport, Shoot

Stunts:
1. Specialist: Computer Science. You get a +2 to all Lore rolls relating to that field of specialization.
2. Danger Sense: You have an almost preternatural capacity for detecting danger. Your Notice skill works unimpeded by conditions like total concealment, darkness, or other sensory impairments in situations where someone or something intends to harm you.
3. Lie Whisperer: +2 to all Empathy rolls made to discern or discover lies, whether they’re directed at you or someone else.

I use the game supplied sheet.

Waaait I completely forgot about the sheet at the start of the thread. But it's actually a Fate Condensed sheet, according to the Stress tracks...?
I used a Fate Condensed sheet as a base and thought I had updated the Stress tracks. Feel free to use the built in one if you prefer.

All good then. Are my stunts okay?
Oct 15, 2024 3:07 am
@Gentleman, those look good.

For the others, after you've picked your skills, choose 1 to 5 stunts...

Stunts
You get three stunts for free, and you can take up to two more stunts at the cost of lowering your refresh by one each. (The gist is this: the more cool tricks you can do, the more you’ll need to accept compels to get fate points.) Figuring out stunts can take a while, so you may want to pick one for now and determine the rest of them during play.

Here's a link to Stuntmaker if you want an idea of what they generally look like.

Ok, so this is the draft I have so far:

Owen 'Blue' Nolan

Male, 5'8" height, dark blue hair (originally light brown), full beard, grayish blue eyes. Usually wears sunglasses and a black leather jacket. Light Irish accent when is angry.

High C- Freelance expert hacker. Plays bass guitar.
Trouble Got fired exposing his beautiful boss corruption scheme, now she hates him.
Other Competent lockpicker and in cryptology.
Other. Terrible brawler, but knows how to shoot.

Skills
Great +4 Technology Affinity (engineering)
Good +3 Burglary, Stealth
Fair +2 Resources, Investigate, Lore
Average +1 Contacts, Academics, Shoot, Will

Stunts
1. Always making useful things (Engineering/craft) Don't use fate point to always have appropriate tools.
2. Specialist (Lore) choose a field: Techology. You get +2 in all rolls related to that field.
3. Security Specialist (Burglary) You don't have to be present for active opposition against security measures you created.
4. Specialist (Lore) choose a field: paranormal. You get +2 in all rolls related to that field.

Background
Owen loves a good challenge, so he became elite cyber security agent in a huge corporation, we also learned to play several instruments (but prefers bass guitar), solves cryptographic riddles for fun, and in high school he hit the most beautiful girl in the whole campus (but without success).
He also became part of a hackers/vigilante deep web loose organization, but currently he is out of contact with it.
A month ago, he was fired from the corp for exposing his boss corruption scheme.
Irish heritage (from father) and Italian heritage (from mother).

Few aspects that are clearly missing (he is bad at these and will avoid doing): brawling/fighting, charismatic/talkative, driving, repairing things (other than electrics and electronics), languages...

If there are aspects that Blue shares with others, and you think I should adjust something, let me know.

GM: What is the skill's listing we are using? I think that I have the incorrect one as noting others have different skills than what I have.

Can someone send me a copy of the current skill's list we are using so I'm on the same page?

Gene, you have the correct original list.
In Fate Condensed there are a couple of 'alternative' uses that may work as options. That's the case with craft Vs engineering.

And, as with most 'open' rpg rules, we kind of ask the GM for some adaptation freedom for a specific setting.
For example, electronic engineering doesn't make sense in a fantasy setting just like magic doesn't make sense in 1990s London. As long as it makes sense and the GM approves, we can go beyond the rulebook.

Ah. Only Academics is added so, there is added 19 skills instead of 18 skills. Thanx. I'm good with my selection.

I think I've got a character ready. I'm going to submit. I was a little unsure of what to put for the Stress boxes, so I checked them off at +1 for average.
Oct 17, 2024 4:13 pm
I guess there are already several Characters submitted.
Qralloq, how shall we move forward?

We're only waiting for @Dracostern. In the meantime, I'll set up the first post and review the PCs submitted.

Again, I don't know what to do, I don't have any ideas or concepts that I'm really happy with, so I might honestly bow out.

I do want to play Fate, but I don't want to hold anyone back.

I'll be happy to help out

Yes, yes I would like that very much. For some reason I'm struggling to think of an idea.
Oct 17, 2024 9:35 pm
@Dracostern I'm also willing to help. If you're out of ideas, consider these possibilities, perhaps mixing and matching:

• A soldier or ex-soldier, with high Shoot and Athletics, Notice and maybe Physique. Maybe he joined the army because of financial perks, maybe it was another reason... if he actually saw combat, he might have PTSD, a Trouble of Traumatic Flashbacks or something like that.

• A wealthy person, the only one of us who struck it rich after high-school. High Resources, and perhaps Contacts. Might also have high social skills such as Deceive, Provoke, Rapport or Empathy, skills that might help getting business deals. Might have high Academics due to managing to afford an university education.

• A police detective who joined this investigation during his vacation, or perhaps due to early retirement (could represent whatever caused his early retirement with a Trouble, something such as PTSD or a lost limb or something else) or misconduct (alcoholic Trouble?). High Investigate and maybe Academics. Almost certainly high Shoot. Having friends in the police force might also mean high Contacts.

• A conspiracy theorist who maybe smokes a lot of weed (if that doesn't violate any site rules and everyone else is okay with that). High Lore, and maybe some very weird Contacts. Maybe also high Stealth or Empathy, if he has to be extra careful where and with whom he smokes with, in order to avoid jail.

• A professional boxer or other kind of fighter. High Fight, Physique, Athletics, maybe Contacts or Resources if he's been successful enough to get some fame and/or money out of it. Might have a Trouble related to having had his head bashed in one too many times, or some other sort of long term damage from fighting. This one might mix well with the conspiracy theorist!

Hey thanks! Those are all pretty fun ideas, I don't know how they would fit with the band idea though, I do like the conspiracy theorist idea, maybe without the weed.

Could be someone who fell down the conspiracy theory rabbit hole after high school

You just need to add "knows how to play [insert instrument]". Someone else correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the band only reunited recently, and specially in order to investigate this case?
Oct 17, 2024 10:07 pm
Gentleman shared some great ideas!
That is the method I usually use.

So, I'll share an alternative approach (for situations in which normal approach doesn't truly work for you):

1. Pick up 4 skills you want your character to use.
2. Describe your character physically
3. Choose a family background
4. Only at the end, putting together all those 3, try to make sense of the combination into a 1-sentence description.

Some stereotypical examples (just to get started):

Example1: 1 Burglary, Deceive, Notice and
Stealth / 2 Thin, small built but very agile / 3 Son an Chinese successful businessman / 4....?

Example 2: 1. Fight, drive, athletic and physic / 2. Heavy built, slow but strong / Dad is a retired boxer and now owns a gym, mom is a nurse / 4...?

Example 3: 1. Academics, Contacts, Rapport and Resources / 2. Thin, tall, well dressed / 3. Father university profesor and mother Pharmacist/ 4....?

Now a Not-that-typical example:

Example 4: 1. Craft, Will, Shoot and Physic / 2. Short and muscle built / 3. Lives alone in the upper floor of his/her carpentry workshop / 4...?

For 'Trouble" imagine the last 1 or 2 years of this character's life. Surely he's gone through some difficulties... physical? emotional? Spiritual?... how is his relation with his neighbours? Or his old school friends? Does he has a mentor? Has he moved to a different city? Has he found love, and got separated? How is he doing work-wise? Money-wise? Does he belong to a club, professional guild or cultural center?

Of course, these are ideas to overcome 'writers block', whenever you get a nice description (step 4), feel free to rewrite the steps above accordingly.

Edit1:
For a more structured way of selecting the step 1, inicial 4 skills: select a real life craft/profession. The image the main skills that may represent those studies.
For example: a doctor should know: academics (medicine), academics (chemistry), physic and (if successful) probably earned Resources.
How would a journalist, a combat pilot, a school teacher, an office cleaning boy or a professional diver would look like (from a skills point of view)?

Edit2:
For a more challenging approach:
As step 1, select 4 or 5 skills from the list that have been LESS selected by the rest of the characters. Then continue the alternative approach described above.

Finally:
Don't care much if the profile is somehow similar to other character at the start. First complete a first draft and only then compare it to others. You may find that you may keep it just like that, or keep it with minor adjustments (to avoid stepping on each other toes too much).

I hope it helps you! Please, feel free to ask any doubt, and share you first drafts .

Thank you again.

I'll see what I can come up with, probably won't be the best but I can try. What skills are we lacking anyway?
Oct 17, 2024 10:39 pm
Alright got an idea now:

Former singer of the band, now Crazy Conspiracy Theorist.

Skill wise I'm thinking Lore, Notice and Stealth as his best three skills.

Stunt wise...not sure yet, maybe those will come to me sometime because stunts are honestly...really hard to make imo.

If that doesn't help, then tell me your exact skill list and maybe also any other aspects, if you already have them, I'll see if I can whip something up for you.
Oct 17, 2024 11:03 pm
Thanks, I'll check those out.

As for aspects and skill list- I haven't done any of that yet, hell I've only just...JUST came up with a concept.

...sorry I'm getting very frustrated.

Sorry if I'm hurrying you up.

No it's not you, you're just trying to help, I'm more getting mad at myself because in theory this should be super easy and quick, but I just can't seem to wrap my head around it for some reason.
Oct 17, 2024 11:18 pm
Ok so

Skills I picked are:

Lore (+4)
Stealth (+3)
Notice (+3)
Burglary (+2)
Investigate (+2)
Empathy (+2)
Fight(+1)
Provoke (+1)
Drive (+1)
Will (+1)

High Concept is: Crazy Conspiracy Theorist

Trouble is: Gets Paranoid easily

Aspect 1 is: Finds patterns in everything

Still massive WiP

You are doing fine. It is completely new and the modern thing is throwing me off used to doing fantasy.

Alright, here we go. You can pick 3 of those without lowering Refresh, lower Refresh by 1 per stunt you take after that. Feel free to rename them if you can think of better names. Some of these are from the wiki page I linked before, perhaps renamed.

Jumpy: You startle easily. You may roll Notice instead of Athletics to Defend against physical attacks.

Cat-Pawed: You have a light step. You receive +1 to Overcome and Defend with Stealth, as long as making little noise would help you out.

Ingenious Trespasser: You have a knack for getting into places you are not supposed to. You receive +2 to Create an Advantage rolls made to analyze and figure out a way to get into and out of somewhere.

The Tin Foil Hat Milieu: You are very used to dealing with people just like you. You may roll Lore instead of Contacts when dealing or trying to get a hold of with people who also believe conspiracy theories.

Trash Talker: You receive +2 to Create an Advantage with Provoke when saying interesting insults.

Lie Whisperer: +2 to all Empathy rolls made to discern or discover lies, whether they’re directed at you or someone else. (Huerago already has this one though. Just for fun I would rename it "Pants on Fire" if I took it myself.)

Stubborn: You simply do not know when to quit. You gain an additional mild consequence slot. This slot can only be used for mental harm. (adapted from Spirit of the Century SRD, §6.23.2)

As A Mule: +2 to Defend with Will against fear and despair. (Name it something else if you don't take the one above it.)

Trained For This: +2 to Defend with Will against someone trying to get inside your head – be it through psychic means or through extensive torture. (adapted from Spirit of the Century SRD, §6.23.2)

Combat Pragmatism: +2 to Create an Advantage with Fight by fighting dirty.

Throw The Last Punch: You are not amused when someone else throws the first punch. You receive +2 to Attack with Fight in a fight which the other side started.

What Are They Hiding?: You receive +2 to Investigate rolls to investigate something which someone else has tried to dissuade you from investigating in the same scene. (Or perhaps in the same and/or the preceding scene, if only the same scene would be too limiting, which IDK if it would. What do you think, Qralloq?)

I also wanted to add a Stunt that gives +2 to Lore in some circumstance(s), but I couldn't think of any. Anyone else got an idea for that?

Oh, and @Qralloq , could you tell us if you're not willing to allow any of the above Stunts, or will allow with some modification?

Thank you very much, I have an idea for some of those tbh, they do kinda work!

Mostly Jumpy, though Ingenious Trespasser could be funny too haha, thank you for helping me.
Oct 18, 2024 1:00 am
It's all my pleasure. Are those two the only ones that interested you, though?
Oct 18, 2024 1:02 am
So far yes, for the third, I'm thinking of something that either boosts investigation, or gives advantage to someone.
I also need to think of another aspect.

Would it be fine if "What Are They Hiding?" worked with a dissuasion in the immediately preceding scene, though?

It occurs to me that I forgot to type that this is a bonus to Create an Advantage with Burglary specifically.
