Leg 1

OOC:
You can still make any final preparations you want to do in the Negotiations thread. Just do that before posting over here.
At first light, the crew rallies at Ham-Bone's van. They walk to the main gate in the walls of New Graceland. The walls had been built piecemeal over time. It was originally just the metal fence that surrounded the car dealership with some barbed wire along the top. Sheet metal, scrap car panels, and plywood have been used to reinforce the walls. Ramparts have been built all around to allow sentries and fence men to have a better vantage point.

As the crew approaches, the gates are opened for them. A few freshly killed casualties lie near the gate and a clean up crew follows you out to take care of the mess. For now the coast is clear and you head west towards Bacon's Scrap Sanctuary.
For nearly two hours, the crew walks through the abandoned remains of downtown West Memphis. You pass store fronts, supermarkets, and gas stations that were picked dry long ago. Once past the downtown area, the route takes them down some more residential areas and eventually the road they're on opens out on to a large, open grassy field. There is no overt signs of danger, but you've been doing this long enough to trust your instincts and your instincts give you pause.

With his rifle slung over one shoulder and binoculars resting in their case against his chest, Ham walks through the ruins of Memphis with an easy gate. He has been at this long enough that he is no longer terrified, but he is cautious. His head swings back and forth looking for Casualties and interesting finds. Occasionally, he points to a storefront or an abandoned car and whispers to others about some interesting thing he found there once. On the outskirts of the city he raises his head and sniffs the air. He stops. Something isn’t right. Reaching for his binoculars he scans the horizon for signs of activity.

Claire and Teddy followed behind letting Ham do most of the chatting. She was a scavenger as well, however didn't often talk about her finds. Her backpack was littered with patches and memories from the past. Claire took out her binoculars to aid the scanning, she had a keen eye for danger..... Though Theodore wanted attention and was a slight distraction.
OOC:
Why can't I roll well -.-

Let me resolve the awareness rolls for those with binoculars first.

So I take it because the grass is not burned, the fire happened a while ago and the grass has grown up since.

Oops forgot to roll...
OOC:
Not that it matters!

Definitely. Also, FYI You need to put the end tag for ooc after the text

You'll most likely need the rolls anyways. Just wanted those with the gear to have the opportunity to act first.

Hmm. This isn't a field, it's a park. Over there, he points toward the field, there's a playground set and pavilion that have been burned. Whatever lit up the kiddie equipment happened a while ago, and probably isn't connected to our missing cargo. Best be careful. That grass could conceal an army of Casualties, but going around will add a leg. What if we make the play ground. We get our bearings from atop the jungle gym?
OOC:
Sorry, I got it this time. This is my first game on GP and I am still getting used to how it functions.

OOC:
you could go around, but it would add another leg to the trip and you're rolling the dice as to what else you might encounter out there. Also the information in the note was only visible to you. You might want to mention it to the rest.

One more thing each leg costs a ration. So go ahead and mark one off on your sheets, everyone.

OOC:
So, we can't scout to see if there is anything in the field?
Oct 1, 2016 10:49 pm
OOC:
That's effectively what the Awareness roll was. Now you do have avenues to get more information if you want. Whoever has a laptop or ubiq specs could use them for a networking or research roll to get more information before stepping out there or you could stroll boldly out into the abyss and see what happens.

Hang on a mo. shark pulls out his surface. Lets see if I can find a recent satellite image of this location... Shit nothing new.
OOC:
Ill let you come up with what happens on the crit.

Rolls

Research B - (1d10+3)

(1) + 3 = 4

Research R - (1d10)

(1) = 1

OOC:
Yeesh. The Market is a bitch. You're out of Will so you can't negate the crit. You still could succeed at cost via tapping a Reference if you are so inclined. unfortunately, you will also need to expend a charge on your Ubiq specs to do so, because...
As Loan Shark fires up the surface and navigates to his trusty satellite image site, the screen refreshes awkwardly and freezes. It appears that Shark left the surface on in his bag and it has overheated.
OOC:
The use of the surface will be unavailable to you until you can have it serviced.

Claire watches as the equipment malfunctions. She felt like it wouldn't be too hard to fix, though the time to do so is another story. The scanvenger placed a hand on Shark's back, "Guess we are going in blind, or around?". She gestured the question with her other hand.
OOC:
Claire would probably be able to service electronics, though I dont know if this is the time for that.
Oct 3, 2016 6:03 am
Shark is clearly upset by the failure of his treasured laptab, Eithet way we're fuck, we'll be sprung the longway or the short way!

OOC:
Claire:You could take a crack at it, but unfortunately do not have an electronics kit that would make such repairs possible out in the Loss.

Loan Shark: Give me a Self-Control check for losing a piece of equipment. It's probably not permanent so let's make this a level one Stress check. Success, you're fine, Failure take a point of Stress.

Alright, so if you're going out into the field give me another awareness roll without the binoculars for Claire and Ham-Bone
Oct 3, 2016 7:30 pm
Damn, that's bad luck Shark. Ham-Bone shields his eyes against the sun and takes another long look out into the grass. Moving grass has to be a sign of Casualties.
OOC:
I hope Claire has better luck.
