Ok I'm thinking of making a polearm focused fighter, because that could be fun, I know I said a knight before but maybe my character is a city guard, or at least started out as one before becoming an adventurer.

Are you thinking Variant Human + Polearm Master? Polearm Master is always mentioned when OP builds are discussed.

Do you know your character's alignment?

Your background sounds fine. You can keep it simple, or write out a detailed origin; I'm not picky.

You can post a sheet whenever you're ready. If I'm able, I'll recreate it in D&D Beyond, because I'm used to that format.

That would be the easiest way to do it yeah, variant human + polearm master.

My character will be neutral good most likely, and I don't have a massive backstory idea so I'll keep it simple for now I think. As for D&DBeyond, yeah I'm more used to that format myself not gonna lie.

Sounds good. I love Beyond's ease-of-use, but the pricing, the new rules rollout, the company's decision-making...well, that's a rant developing.

If you know of any worthwhile alternatives, I'm all ears. Some people use Dicecloud or Gsheet, but I've never been able to acclimate to those.

Sadly I only know DnD beyond, it only the company decisions weren't so terrible. It really sucks. As for the sheets on here, it's a lot more work then even doing it by hand, because they don't even have all the skills listed-.

Yeah, this site has some clunkiness to it. But after dealing with lackluster Discord servers, I can handle some clunkiness.

Oh fair enough, I love this place already, there are just some issues with the sheets is all, I might just put everything into a regular character sheet and transport stuff over.

Agreed on liking Gamersplane. Discord servers were always an uphill battle. Haven't had any major issues here, though.

Same, tbh this is the first time I’ve had an issue and it’s mostly because I don’t want to have to type out every skill.

The Gamersplane sheet says you have 135 GP, while the Beyond sheet says 10 GP...right?

Everything else looks fine. Thought you'd get at least one more language, but evidently not.

Well I got a 10gp pouch from my Folk Hero background, and Fighters get like 120 starting gold apparently.

Also I need to think of a backstory, I’m thinking of making my character a former town guard, hence folk hero, who became an adventurer because he wanted to explore!

He would be from the Umbermoor region!

Actually, you have to choose between starting equipment OR a random amount of gold.

Wording from PHB: "When you create your character, you receive equipment based on a combination of your class and background. Alternatively, you can start with a number of gold pieces based on your class and spend them on items from the lists in this chapter."

On the page it lists "Starting Wealth by Class." Fighter is 5d4 x 10 GP, which is where that extra 125 GP came from. But again, you only get this if you chose the gold option, not the equipment option.

The 10 GP on the Beyond sheet is what you should have, I'm pretty certain. Unless you want to start with the gold, instead of the equipment, and then buy each item you need individually...which I don't think you want to do.

Regarding background: sounds good! You can make the backstory as simple or as complex as you like.

But yeah, I think I'm going a simple backstory for this, I don't feel the need to go all out, ya know? Sometimes simple can be good. Also the town he came from is called Stoneward.
