Do you love the Shadowrun world but the rules make you pause? Say no more, chummer. This is a game of Cities Without Number set in the Shadowrun universe. This will be a one-shot at level 3 set in Thailand and requires investigation, social, stealth, and combat skills.

TELL IT TO THEM STRAIGHT
You've been contacted by Sangdao, a Thai fixer respected throughout Southeast Asia, to uncover who has been assassinating members of the Japanese syndicate Kuroiban-gumi. You're on a tight deadline as every day more Kuroiban-gumi are killed, which is deducted from your bonus pay. You'll be working among various crime syndicates, gangs, and cults in the popular tourist country.

BEHIND THE SCENES
Seeing the response to Qralloq's Cyberpunk Red game, I thought I'd offer up a cyberpunk game of my own to hopefully help people get their fix. I'm looking for 5 players, a mix of veterans and neophytes. Posting rate is 5/week. I expect the game to last 2-3 months, but this is just an estimate. I will leave this recruitment post open for several days, and send out invites by the end of next week. I am planning on starting the game the last week of October to give myself enough time to read the adventure and do conversion to the CWN system. If you're interested please post below!

I would love to play. I dig Shadowrun, but I'm not the biggest fan of its rules. I haven't played CWN, though I have played a short one-shot of SWN.

I've got CWN but I haven't played it before, I'd love to get involved with some shadowrun with the ... awkward engine aside!

I, too, have CWN but haven't played it yet. Been busy working on WWN, which I understand is somewhat different.

Anyway, I've never played Shadowrun, though I typically confused it with GDW's Dark Conspiracy. I don't mind getting passed over if there are a lot of people dying to get in on a Shadowrun game, or just a game run by Nezz. ;)

I'm interested. It's been a while since I played Shadowrun and I've never played CWN. Looking over the free version. Curious about how you will handle cyberware and other aspects

I have a long complicated history with Shadowrun, along with the cyberpunk genre in general, and CWN was obviously partly designed as a Shadowrun alternative!

All to say that I'd like to give it a try!

Ooh, here to say you're going to have fun in Nezz's game! I'm always down for cyberpunk, but darn, just committed to one so I won't hog the queue.

I'm still reading the rules, but for the most part they are very similar. CWN has only one class, weapons are more lethal and have a trauma die and trauma rating which function as a critical hit damage multiplier, and armor has soak which functions as temporary hp that refreshes every scene. Everything else (so far) seems exactly the same.
I'm not sure exactly what you mean. Everything Shadowrun has also has corresponding rules in CWN so I'll be following that.

I guess I got the mistaken impression this was a bit of a port from Shadowrun to CWN. My mistake. As I said, I am totally unfamiliar with CWN. Will start reading up on it.

Ah I see. Yes, the adventure has to be ported since it is a SR adventure so stat blocks and such I will have to convert. The game itself is standalone cyberpunk but there are systems to make Shadowrun with the serial numbers filed off lol.

Hey! I am very interested in an SR-game. But I am gone from tomorrow until 15th of Nov. So please put my name on the waiting-list, in case you loose a player. I have never played this system before, but my love for SR burns hot and strong and I am willing to learn. =D

What's the plan to handle magic and metatypes?

There are rules for those in the paid version. Metahumans are Foci the player must take at character creation. Magic and Summoning are Edges the character must take at character creation and grants access to the Cast and Summon skills.

Yep, still interested. I looked over the free rules so dont't have an idea about the magical aspects but it looks interesting and the setting is enough like cyberpunk and shadowrun that is is at least familiar. Sign me up :)

I only have the free edition, but I'd definitely give it a try. I'm not firm on a character, so I can try to slot in when I see what other people are leaning into.
