Exquisite Corpse by Marcie Jan Bronstein and family
The exquisite corpse is a game where players take turns to draw on the same piece of paper, thereby creating a collaborative piece of art. In the same spirit, the Exquisite Dungeon will be run as a dungeon where players take turns to GM and come up with the next room that the party enters.

Game
Like it says on the tin, the Exquisite Dungeon is a game for people who are interested in building and exploring a dungeon together. Anyone who joins this game has to be willing to take a turn as GM!

System

To keep things simple, we will use the free Basic Fantasy RPG. Think B/X D&D with ascending AC and separated race and class!

Posting Rate
I would like everyone to post once every other day, or about 4 times a week. No worries if you can’t post for whatever reason, but giving a heads-up is always appreciated.

Applying
I'm looking for 4-5 people to play this game. If you’re interested, just leave a post below. No GM experience necessary – in fact, this might be a good option if you’d like to try out GMing for the first time without committing to a full campaign.

Interested but I wonder if something bigger than just a room. Will this be a mega-dungeon?

This sounds like a pretty neat idea. I'm interested in playing, and am new to PBP, so hopefully that will help me get a hang of the format. Curious, when it is our time to GM, would we just control our character as well?

Since this is collaborative, none of that is set in stone! I've sent both of ya an invite.

I am have been musing about something like this or a while. Getting some experience as a GM and experimenting with collaboratively running a game that is. So I am definitely interested. I am reasonably well antiquated with Basic but have never done any GMing.

That being said, how long do you expect this campaign to go? I am asking because, while I am generally very fond of games from the OSR orbit, I have grown rather cold towards "strict" OSR games. Basic is not the worst offender here, but It is far from my preferred system. The "generic" fantasy setting implied by something like Basic and the associated dungeon crawl focused gameplay was never my favorite style of play to begin with either. Dabbling more and more with narative/character focused games recently does little to improve my disposition in that regard as well.

Point of my rambling complaints is, I am interested in this game more as a sort of technical exercise, rather than for the game itself. If that makes any sense? Just making sure everyone is on the same page. And I fully understand if this would be a deal breaker.

If I understand you right, it's the dungeon crawl aspect you're not enamoured with?

I envision the dungeon itself to be the main part of this game, but exploring what rooms the other players build would be the other half of the game. I'm interested in trying OSR procedures like dungeon turns too. That is to say, it won't be character focused.

My thought was to do something short and simple and see where we go from there, with a definite start and end point. Maybe 10 rooms?

Since you're interested, I fired off an invite, but no worries if it's not for you.
