"With the coming of the Second Great War, many eyes in the imprisoned realm of Donistair turn hopefully, or desperately, toward the freedom of the Western Isles. The far city of Winterstone became the great embarking point, but not everyone could get there directly, and so a tortuous route began. Round the great width of Elvenlake, North across the white rivers of Southern Melan, and finally West to Port Brokentower, opening up onto Brokentower Bay. Here, the fortunate ones through money, influence, or luck, may obtain the traveling seals necessary to scurry off to Borga Taron, and then to the Manifest North. But the others wait in Port Brokentower... and wait... and wait... and wait."

So yeah if you've seen Casablanca, it's gonna be a little like that, but maybe with some twists and turns of our own devising? Who knows! That's the fun of it for me, seeing where yours and my characters take us.

The plot is gonna revolve around these writs of travel(the special paper mcguffins from the movie) that are rumored to be held by Ragnar, the owner, and the people who want them. Maybe your character is one of them, maybe not. Regardless, the plot around these writs are going to be important to your character in some way, we'll figure it out, and drama will ensue.

A 5e adventure for one person based on Casablanca.

Do me a favor, won't you? Give it a watch.

So pitch me a regular of a place called Ragnar's in Port Brokentower. I'm looking for an interesting protagonist for this little romp we're gonna go on, so get creative with it.

The fun here is gonna be in the drama and the story, less about the monsters n such. Whoever vibrates the best by next Wednesday will win.

Be seeing you,

It was a quiet day at Ragnar's. This was rare, but not unusual. Yeona was cleaning the tables today, prepping the den for yet another night of soirées and music. The sea elf sighed. She'd been in Port Brokentower for three months now, and yet she hadn't made any progress towards getting a writ of travel. She got the job at Ragnar's because she heard it was the place to be, and places to be were always teeming with rumours and whispers. But that's all she could heard, nothing concrete, nothing that could take her back home.

She stared wistfully out at the open windows, inhaling the salty sea-breeze. She was desperate to return to the Western Isles, to see her family again. She grit her teeth; her own foolishness had led her to the shores of Elvenlake. When the war broke out, not a day passed where she did not regret leaving the comfort of her western home.

The only blessing (or was it a curse?) she had in Port Brokentower was that it only took one look for someone to realise that she was from the west. Sea elves were uncommon in Donistair. This helped catch the attention of westerners transiting through Port Brokentower, but likewise attracted the attention of the desperate, seeking the same escape she sought. Furthermore, it roused suspicions of the authorities, so she deliberately kept a low profile. All-in-all, Ragnar's was where she needed to be: the golden ticket to the west.

'Time to open up!' A voice bellowed, followed by footsteps down from the mezzanine. Another night of revelry and secrets was about to begin.

Hope that's okay! I'm new to Gamers Plane so let me know if you want any other details, etc. I figured making the pitch a little character vignette would be more interesting, but I know it's not too helpful in terms of game logistics.

Hope to hear from you!
