OOC:
Grim has the license. If he needs carry anything else, to help out, just let me know.
Are we springing the trap, or heading back?

"I did ask Alder, so..." Jacky shakes his head. "We can step over the thread if you'd prefer not to trigger it."
Apr 4, 2025 8:00 pm
While you’re the trap expert, Jennifer, do you think maybe you could disable it?
Apr 4, 2025 11:00 pm
"Why, Ezekiel, you've already heard my idea for disabling the thing - triggering it from afar!" Jacky shakes his head. "Come on, let's make a move."

Assuming no others begin going the other way, he'll step over the thread and creep forward, looking for more clues about this trap.

OOC:
If Jacky is wearing a harness and roped up, it would be wise to have the rope pass under the tripwire. Or let go of the rope for more freedom of movement
Apr 5, 2025 6:35 am
OOC:
Hmm, if the rope is tied to his waist, wouldn't it naturally pass over the tripwire?
Apr 5, 2025 8:12 am
OOC:
I guess so, but as he moves forward gravity might bend the rope downward and if enough weight is exerted, set off the tripwire. But maybe I’m not visualising the scene properly… and Zacharias could hold his end of the rope pretty high, which would reduce the risk of inadvertently activating the trap.

You're visualising correctly.

OOC:
Would silken rope weigh enough to trigger this thing? I've no clue.

If it's so much hassle to manage, Jacky is fine proceeding without rope too.

The thread is extremely fine, like spider-silk. It looks like the slightest touch would break it.
Apr 7, 2025 3:55 am
Coming to a decision, Jacky undoes the rope harness before stepping past the thread.
OOC:
I think we're stalling here, so I'm going ahead with this action.
Apr 7, 2025 5:27 pm
Jacky steps over the delicate thread without breaking it. In front of him, the corridor continues due south for 20’ before ending at a closed wooden door.

The flame in Thrud's lantern starts to gutter; it's running very low on oil.

Secret Roll

Grim steps waddlingly over the wire. Then follows Jacky towards the wooden door.

As Zacharias re-loops the silken rope over his backpack, he watches as the nimble Jacky and the somewhat less-nimble Grimidek both navigate the trap. If they can do it, so can I. Taking a deep breath and gripping his sword and shield tightly, Zach carefully attempts to maneuver around the trap.

OOC:
Ironically, I think Grim actually beats Jacky's 8 DEX by a fair bit lol.

OOC:
Ha, yeah he’s pretty sry for an ol dwarf! lol

The elf remained, for now, on this side of the tripwire. She assisted Thrudmarr in replenishing the lantern oil, and also decided to prepare the recently found bullseye Iantern for future use.

Jacky will examine the tripwire from the other side - what does it connect to?

It’s simply connected to either side of the wooden door frame, in the manner in which a spider might attach its web.

"Do you think we're about to wander into a nest of those wand-carrying spiders we heard about?" Jacky asks over his shoulder.
