The Pitch
North of the Wizard's Wall, which is absolutely not the same as the Ice Wall from GoT, civilization has had to survive alone and against the shadow hordes from the frigid north. Something impossibly powerful is awakening, and the land is undergoing changes. You are mercenaries who have come seeking adventure, but quickly find yourselves wrapped up in a tale of horror and loss. You know, for fun.
This is likely most of our first forays into D&D 5.5. Because of this, many mistake will be made. We can discuss these out-of-game, and sometimes the answer will be to ignore a particular rule. This game will start with two optional rules from 5.0, however. We will include Slow Healing and Healers Kit Dependency; this means that natural healing on a short rest uses a usage of a healers kit, and you must spend hit dice on a long rest.
Trigger Warnings and Themes
This game has so many triggers, but the biggest is Body Horror. With Lovecraftian influences cranked up to 11 (but without the man's racism), there are more triggers than not. However...
This game WILL NOT include the following triggers: sexual assault, violence against children, suicide. This is an incomplete list, and will include other triggers as decided by the group.
To survive, you must work together! For this reason, your character must have a willingness to work together even with those who might be diametrically opposed. With that being said, your decision to follow Law or Chaos, and Good or Evil is a diagetic decision.
Game Duration and Pacing
This game expects players to post once a day, five times a week. I do not expect the game to move on weekends, as I am usually busy myself. As for the duration, this game is will likely take a year or more.
This game will use a private Discord server to encourage speed and ease of play. 5th Edition has several rules that require back and forth, and sometimes even quick responses (looking at you, Reactions); the server will help with this.
Who May Apply
This game is open to any who are interested in this chaotic experience. The table is intentionally accepting, and will not tolerate any racism, sexism, or any other ism. Safety is paramount. I reserve the right to prevent any from joining should I feel they are not a good fit, and to remove any players who show the same.
How to Apply
Simply reply here, or reach out on the GamersPlane Discord. If you are interested, please use a quote from the Hellraiser series in bold. If you have questions, I am more than happy to answer before you make a decision. I will utilize an arbitrary method of choosing who joins, which may be the product of the Lords of Chaos. I will select five players, or six if the mood strikes me.
