Famul
Famul rattles excitedly, "Famul will guard the hall… Famul will continue repairs…", a little drawer pops out of his chest and he deposits the coin from 37. "Famul will secure the doors…"

Loaded with the water, Famul hitches the wagon to the cart. As 37 climbs aboard, Tryne lights it up. The small automaton waves energetically, wishing the troupe well. Tryne carefully steers the cart back toward the railway, then follows the road toward the edge of town. Several townsfolk take a moment to admire the machine, as the half elf keeps it relatively straight. He feels the elemental resisting him sometimes, either in the throttle, the steering, or both. Nevertheless, the ride is smooth for the occupants.

Passing the rail shed and the Salvation Times, the group leaves the east edge of town. The elemental cart crackles along the former turnpike. The remnants of the abandoned lightning rail tracks sit to the cart’s left. They continue toward the towering wall of spirits marking the edge of the Grey Mists.

The border of the Mournland.

Vice, 37 and Torhak have been through its icy cold before. Even from Salvation, the featureless faces that churn through the mists seem large. Up close, they are gargantuan. Easily tens of, possibly even hundreds of feet tall. Immeasurable in number, stretching as far as the eye can see to the north and south and further skyward than any elemental airship dares fly. The spectres swirl in and out of view in silent, perpetually screaming torment.

OOC:
Where is everyone sitting? Is everyone but Tryne in the cart?

Tryne, roll me a perception check. Anyone riding shotgun with him, may do so as well.

Meepo, you may roll your own perception check to keep an eye out for ingredients.

OOC:
Torhak would love to ride shotgun, his passing through the Gray is going to be adversarial. This is the first time returning since he first freed himself and fled into the Mournland.

The giant minotaur stares into the mists, lost in thought. The faces drawing him in. He can almost feel the manacles on his wrists being drawn back together. The persistent rattling of the dangling chains magnetically pulling toward each other. He takes a quick glance down at his hands and sees nothing. The chains jingle freely with the rocking of the cart on the road.
Dec 10, 2024 5:32 am
Vice is inside, uncharacteristically still and quiet. In preparation to cross through the mist, he has his eyes closed, amd is holding on to one of his chakram with both hands
Dec 10, 2024 6:03 am
Meepo checks the area during the travel for anything good he can use.
OOC:

As it’s just after midday, the kobold is having trouble seeing through the bright daylight.

Tryne continued to work the controls, watching the way in front of him for any obstacles, but as the drove up to the border of the Mournland - he cannot believe the enormous nature of the border and how small he feels going into it. The sudden - what the hell are you thinking? wells up in his mind - but he focuses back on the cart and the elemental which seems to want to drive off the road.
OOC:

I think you mentioned that the other construct road on top. Is there a baggage rack or something which Talon could lay down and ride in? If not, the steel defender could be either in the coach or in the wagon as needed.

Post Roll: Torhak and Tryne have matching perceptions :) and we were beat out by the half blind Kobold.

We can say that there’s something for Talon to hold on to or your lion could sit on the "seat" at the rear.

Talon may also make a perception check if that’s what you’re after ;)

OOC:

I was not looking for perception check for Talon - just figuring out where she would be for future reference. But - since you offered.

Post Edit: Well at least someone is paying attention - LOL

As the cart continued toward the wall Torhak, feeling the insecurities of his past well up inside him, bellowed a roar at the wall in defiance. "Prepare yourselves, we are crossing through!" he yelled to the others in the cart in preparation!

Laulalith' sits at the window in the cart and pays close attention to the giant swirling faces as they approach the grey. What could have caused destruction and pain on this scale? She doesn't know what to expect as they pass through, but she tries to prepare herself for the ordeal as advised by Torhak.
OOC:
Casting Guidance and concentrating.

37 sits quietly. This is not his first exposure to crossing into (or out of) the grey -- and while it isn't pleasant, there's something to be said for knowing what to expect. If he's concerned, it doesn't show as he seems to simply... wait.
Dec 10, 2024 5:12 pm
As the cart approaches the edge of the mist, Talon notices a man upon a black horse, sitting on the ridge behind them. The man has a black beard, dusty coat and a faded black hat. He is clearly watching the group as they approach the Grey. The lion gets Tryne’s attention and directs his view toward the figure.
OOC:
I leave the flavour up to you for how Talon tells you.
Dec 10, 2024 6:05 pm
Tryne focusing on controlling the coach heard Talon's growl, more like gears grinding than a feline growl, followed by a very mechanical chime indicating that she had spotted something (he really had not figured out good auditory signals yet, but having never met a lion, he really had no frame of reference).

Glancing over his shoulder, to see where the construct was looking, it took him a moment to spot the rider the sharp eyed defender had picked up.

"We've got a rider following us from the ridge." he said to Torhak, riding shotgun with him, indicating the direction of the observer.

Tryne turned his attention back to the crossing, easing up on the speed slightly as he did not know if he would be able to see at all once the border was encountered.
Dec 10, 2024 7:03 pm
Torhak turned to face the direction of the rider. "Could just be interested in this cart" he grumbled, but his hand instinctively grabbed hold of his weapon's haft. "I'll keep an eye on him until we cross through"
Dec 10, 2024 7:23 pm
Torhak stays vigilant as they approach the mist. The figure remains on the ridge, watching. As they enter, he just notices a second rider join the first.

Then the cart is swallowed by the icy cold of the grey. It is disorienting and chaotic, the faces are not just on the edges of the mists, Tryne and Torhak find themselves surrounded by wave after wave of the immense spirits, swirling and swooping around the them.

They struggle to even see the road beneath them as the grey seems to envelop them. They notice one of the ghastly face seems to zone in on the driver. Diving toward the the cart.

Laulalith' stares in a mix of horror and fascination as the ghostly faces descend upon them.

Oops: I cannot add guidance here, sorry. I guess it didn't matter anyway.
