Chapter Three - Return to the Mournland

Vice's question gives her an idea. "I don't know, but let's find out". She sends him a wink and takes five quick steps to get behind the outcropping cliff and out of sight of the fireball. There, she grasps her silver medallion and closes her eyes for a second while she recalls a formidable Cyran army major she once met during the war. The effect is instantaneous as the medallions magic washes over her: In her place stands a stern, human woman in her fifties with short-cropped grey hair and fierce blue eyes wearing the field uniform of a Cyran major.
Then Laulaith's eyes flash black, and she instantly vanishes, only to reappear right in front of the fireball. From there, she strides forward, while she wills confidence into her steps. She holds out her hand in the universal signal for 'stop' that also prominently displays her ring. "STAND DOWN! THATS AN ORDER!"
She repeats the same message in Ignan, where it comes out as the deep rumbling of great furnace.
Actions:
- Move 10' behind the cliff to break line of sight (V15)
- Action: Diguise Self
- Bonus action: Misty step to reappear (R19)
- Move 20' towards the fireball (O18)
- Free action: Talking :)
So I'm gambling that:
- the fireball is intelligent
- ... but not too intelligent
- it speaks Ignan
- it recognises the ring
- it falls for the deception
That's probably a high-risk approach.
Plan B: Lali has resitance to fire, so she is not the worst decoy :)
In case you want Deception in stead of performance, just drop the d4 from the roll.
Rolls
Performance - (1d20+7+1d4)
(10) + (1) + 7 = 18

4 39/39 37
5 38/38 Tryne
5a 31/31 TALON
6 33/34 Vice
7 42/42 Meepo
Torhak is up, with 37 on deck. (Caught the typo)
Torhak gripped his warhammer in one hand and rushed forward toward the fireball, then he skid to a stop and as he did a growing energy around his shoulder began to snake down his forearm quickly before he thrust it forward and released a bolt of necrotic energy at the fireball, the chain from his manacle whipping across his armor causing a loud clanking sound. As he did so the pain of using his mark caused him to wince with pain.
Then with but a thought he ignited his warhammer in black shroud of energy, feeding off his own blood, producing an ichor that would drain the life essence from his foes!
Move: to Q17 (I think I counted that properly)
Standard: Necrotic Bolt
Bonus Action: Divine Favor
Rolls
Necrotic Bolt (Fire Bolt) - Attack - (1d20+8)
(10) + 8 = 18
Necrotic Bolt (Fire Bolt) - Damage - (2d10)

37 is up, with Tryne and Talon on deck.
Unless I am mistaken, I hit it with Necrotic Bolt (Fire Bolt reflavored), which isn't a weapon attack so Divine Favor wouldn't apply right? I was doing it preemptively for next turn assuming I engage the fireball in melee.
"It didn't work Vice!"
Not entirely unexpected. Still more fun than Hex + Eldritch Blast :)
Rolls
Attack (Lightning Launcher) - (1d20+7)
(19) + 7 = 26
Damage (Lightning) - (2d6+4)
(53) + 4 = 12
Attack (Lightning Launcher) - (1d20+7)
(15) + 7 = 22
Damage (Lightning) - (1d6+4)
(4) + 4 = 8
As 37 launched lightning at the enemy, Tryne responded to Vice "Nothing like that..."
Tryne hopped down from the coach, with Talon following behind, upon hitting the ground Tryne followed the rocks around to the right. As he moved, Tryne was mumbling and selecting options on his tool, "Had to be fire - couldn't be something else..."
Move: Toward R15 which I think Tryne can reach with Talon next to him.
Action: Use multi purpose tool to configure a cantrip - Ray of Frost
This simple screwdriver can transform into a variety of tools; as an action, you can touch the item and transform it into any type of artisan's tool of your choice (see the "Equipment" chapter in the Player's Handbook for a list of artisan's tools). Whatever form the tool takes, you are proficient with it. While holding this tool, you gain a bonus to the spell attack rolls and the saving throw DCs of your artificer spells. The bonus is determined by the tool's rarity.
As an action, you can focus on the tool to channel your creative forces. Choose a cantrip that you don't know from any class list. For 8 hours, you can cast that cantrip, and it counts as an artificer cantrip for you. Once this property is used, it can't be used again until the next dawn.

Tryne and Talon rush up to join the others, the tool in his hand looks frosty cold.
Vice is up, with Meepo on deck.
It seemed to me that the action was consumed configuring the cantrip. I'll add the attack if you decide to rule the other way.

Frost Damage - (2d8)

(4) = 4
As Meepo flys around he sees Laulalith's transformation and appearing in front of the living fireball and yelling at it in some unknown language.
Gauging the situation between the two Meepo casts ray of frost as the living fireball seems like it's aggression will continue

The fireball rolls through the alcove into the group. A ball of flame flies toward Laulalith as it passes and tethers of flame whip out at Tryne, Talon and Torhak. The bolt hits Laulalith, but her ring absorbs much of the energy. Torhak feels the flames sear his arms as he defends himself. Tryne evades the ribbons of fire, as does Talon.
Deep within the construct, a white hot light begins to build.
