Torhak helped to pack the cart with the various materials they found. "Are we all going to fit with these crates?" He asked as he continued to lift the heavy crates into the cart nearly effortlessly.

Vice helps to load the cart, but it doesn't look like the little Gnome is making a dent compared to the amount the others are moving, especially Torhak. "I sure hope it all fits. I'd rather not return if we don't have to, it's bad enough that we have to spends the night out here. Not that I could sleep with so much going on. I may as well stay up and take first watch. Maybe spend some time with the ghost before they cross over."

"Professor... would you be receptive to the idea of us learning from your books and schematics, and continuing your work?" 37 asks as he continues skimming the tomes, even as the others are trying to pack them up for transport.

"I do not know what is to come, but work like this... I would prefer craftsmanship of this caliber not be lost to time."

Eventually, he puts the book he had in hand into a crate with the others. Realizing they're discussing watch rotation, 37 chimes in. "With the carriage and wagon off to one side, I can stand with my back to the doors themselves and watch over all of you for the night. The only blind spot would be... behind the carriage itself. I can keep watch the entire night, but I cannot walk around."

Meepo sees the group starting to load the cart and starts to help the group with the loading.

"Wow you don't have to sleep at all? Wow I can imagine all that you can get done with not having to sleep. Do you have to recharge somehow or something?"
Meepo is shocked and curious about 37's statement about not sleeping.
He nods at Vice's comment. "If you and 37 got the first watch, I can take second watch with 37 and Ms. Beaks." Meepo states while petting his rather large axebeak friend.

As Meepo is moving the boxes he notices the mask with the darkened lenses and pauses for a moment to examine it. "Do you think it would be alright if I take this? Sometimes the outside is a little too bright. Plus how cool would this look on me?" and with that Meepo puts in on his head and looks around.
OOC:
what does the mask look like by chance?

"I must remain still for a period of time," the warforged explains as he secures the book in a crate, "But I am aware of my surroundings, and as such make a suitable guard. The biggest hurdle is that as I am motionless while I rest, I have to pick my location very carefully to minimize blind spots and maximize my field of vision."

Stepping back, he rummages in another crate and finds the mask with the protective lenses. "I see no issues with you making use of the mask, with the caveat that we may need to borrow it at times," 37 replies. "I have a feeling it was designed to protect a craftsman's eyes, as some work can be blinding. Flashes and arcing energy, you understand. But you are more than welcome to make use of it generally." With that, he hands it to Meepo.

"Do you think it would be alright if I take this?
"Oh, I keep forgetting what the rules are on scavenging. Belaluur usually sorts that our for us. Although I don't think anyone will be hunting you down over goggles, not when they'll be getting the rest of this loot."
Don't worry 37, there's enough of us to help keep watch through the night. Can you read some of these books while everyone sleeps?

The crates fit into the towed cart along with the Professor’s tools and books. Tryne and 47 leave the latter for easy access. The armour, its parts and equipment pack up nicely, but need to be placed on top of the elemental cart. It is well into the night before everything is set. Klause seems nervous for the morning. The Professor is as indifferent as ever.
OOC:
When you’re ready, I’ll have the first two on watch roll me a perception check.

Do I need to take a watch at this point? Between our ever watchful 37, and the no sleep needing elf friend :)

OOC:
Lali still needs rest. But only 4 hours. I think Vice volunteered to share the first watch with 37, so I will assume that Lali is testing the first half of the night.

Thankfull that her companions have voulenteeered to take the first watch, Laulalith takes a seat on top of the elemental cart. She sits crosslegged and closes her eyes. Confident in the vigilance and dedication of Vice and 37, she immediately slides into the reverie of the trance to process and catalogue the events of the day.

"I'm trusting you to wake me if there's trouble" Torhak said to those on watch as he placed his back against a wall, completing the diamond shape of Lali, 37, Vice, and himself. He lowered himself to the ground, pulled out his bedroll and laid it out, then immediately, and without any fussing, fell deeply into sleep.

Meepo nods his head. "Well I am not sure on the scavenging rules out here with you guys so I thought I'd ask."

Meepo sets up his cot for the night and looks to two that are setting up for first watch. He cuddles up with Ms Beaks nervously, just thinking about there are only two on guard for watch and if the ghosts (or any other crazy spirits) possess them everyone could be killed in their sleep. But after a bit is able to fall asleep.

As Vice and 37 take the first watch, the rest take their chance to get some sleep. It’s been a long, busy day for everyone. The duo have spent a night or two in the Grey before and as expected, the whispers increase in volume and numbers. At times rising to ghoulish screams, yet completely incomprehensible. Other moments, it’s like listening to a bustling street from a distance. Battle cries, mixed with laughing children. Sometimes all of it at once.

As midnight approaches, Klause screams out, "Intruders! Captain, raiders have plundered the weapons and slain our men!"

37 feels the cool sensation of Klause’s blade pass through his chest. The spirit looks at his sword incredulously as his slash has no effect, "Demons! Captain! Where are you?!"

The whispers hush and Klause looks around him wild-eyed, "They're everywhere!". He slashes wildly at Vice, then at the air around him. "I’ll flight to the last!"
Jan 2, 2025 2:22 pm
Vice looks on worriedly, with his brow furrowed "Klause, are you feeling alright? You know ypu cant affect 'outside the ethereal' yet. Oh, unless this is an act? So you can pass on." Vice raises one of his weapons, and pantomimes a swipe at the ghost
Jan 2, 2025 7:54 pm
The sudden yelling wakes Laulalith from her trance, and she is on her feet with drawn wand long before she understands what is going on. When she realises that there is no immediate danger, she sheathes the wand and pulls out an exquisitely carved wooden flute instead. She starts playing a slow comforting tune of an old Cyran lullaby she once heard. A little later, she stops playing and starts singing the words of the song in the hope that it will bring some peace to the distraught ghost.

While she sings, she walks towards Klause, and when se gets there, she slowly reaches out towards him with an open hand. "Klause, listen to me. It's over. The war is over and you deserve peace"
OOC:

Tryne bolts upright with a weapon in hand, Talon automatically going on alert at her master's startled waking. After a moment, Tryne realizes that Klause is trying to attack everyone.

"Seems our friend has forgotten us."

Seeing that Laulalith is already trying to calm the ghost, while Vice is attempting to do some sword play, Tryne decides to just stay where he is. He does however look around the room to see if there are really any other intruders who may have set off the ghost.
