Torhak stepped through the door and held it open for Belaluur and Lali, "We have returned" he announced bluntly to the others gathered in the hall. "I do not believe we were followed"

Meepo runs into town to the bakery. The woman greets him warmly, commenting on his second visit in as many days. She prepares a baker’s dozen worth of fresh cinnamon scones, "I hope you’ll be a regular.", she says with a smile.
Meanwhile, Tryne and 37 pour over Professor Avgo’s research. Tryne finds a reference to something called a docent. Something House Cannith used in a warforged colossus for connecting and coordinating controls. The Professor seems to have found a use for one to control elemental power to the armour’s limbs. The notes brag of the clockwork armour not only being strong, but quick. Tryne doesn’t quite understand all of it and he’s not sure what a docent is, but it feels like a promising way to increase Talon’s speed or strength. He’ll need more time to study the design.
37, roll me an investigation check.
Belaluur greets Kalli in her usual way and stops the busy Vice and 37 specifically to say hello, "Earic sends his regards. He said to say repairs on the Cyre are moving along, but without that soarwoid, they’re almost a far as they can go. Why you don’t message him yourself is beyond me. I’m not a courier you know.", she says curtly.
"Alright Kalli, let’s see what you’ve got for me. I understand you have a patron already lined up?"
Kalli nods,"Yes, absolutely, Lord Orakh Tornn of House Tharashk."
Belaluur raises her eyebrows slightly, "Well, well, well. You’re moving up I see, Dear. At least my money won’t be tied up for too long. Do you know when he’ll be able to pay?", she asks with a hint of nosiness.
Kalli’s brilliant white teeth are alight with a proud smile, "Thank you. Yes, it has been hard work, but I hope this will begin to pay off.", she says graciously. "Lord Tornn said he should arrive either this evening, or tomorrow morning, depending on if he makes the connecting rail in Vathirond."
"Wonderful! Too bad you have to pay another crew to do the work for you. Crack it open."
The two woman itemize everything in the crates, the notes and tools. Then Belaluur, does some math on a small abacus. "I’ll give you six thousand for the lot. I’m sure the Lord will pay handsomely for the armour and papers.", she says with a wink to the two artificers reading and scribbling. "No one would have use for those old tools.", she says.

OOC:
Tryne will need four weeks with at least four hours a day, 250 gp and a docent to complete this research. 37, roll me an investigation check.

Tryne had mostly paused his research to listen to the discussion on the gear. He did not know anything about lord rankings, but Lord Thornn certainly sounded impressive. After the success of this job, Tryne would certainly be happy to follow up on any more leads the Lord had to offer.
He glanced at 37, "We can hang onto the tools then. Never have too many tools." he grinned.
A moment later the bright orange haired half elf leaned over to 37 quietly. "The colossus you fought... the head is in the tavern. Do you know where the rest of it is? There is reference here to a "docent"... looks like part of the colossus power system."
As he returned to the research, he specifically looked for details on what this "docent" might look like and where in the colossus it might be. From his own designs, he guessed the power system would be in the chest - well defended, but if this was an amplifier or control system - it might also be embedded in the head. Sadly, with the kind of damage they say happened in the battle, it would likely be destroyed.

Vice replies "Do you know how much it cost to send a message?! Besides we have nothing to report yet, our contact hasn't arrived I town"

Meepo smiles and gives the baker a thumbs up. "If you keep making these yum yums Meepo will definitely be coming back for more."
Meepo pays the baker and then heads back to the church with the freshly baked pastries

OOC:
Consider whether it would be ok for Tryne to use the bardic inspiration he got earlier for the investigation (maybe too much time has passed). Lali is also happy to add Guidance.Jan 28, 2025 3:24 pm
"I understand, but your assistance is always appreciated," 37 replies when Belaluur fusses about acting as a courier. He passes her a gold piece as thanks.
When Tryne asks about the Warforged Colossus' remains, 37 pauses. "I am... unsure, honestly, what happened to the rest of the Colossus. We could ask Sheriff if he knows. If I were to hazard a guess, however, it was probably broken down for parts. I would start with Sheriff."
With the distractions addressed, 37 returns to his notes, chanting a small mantra to focus his mind. There is only so much time, and there are so many notes to pour through...

Vice wanders over to where Tyne is and says "The minotaur that runs the scrapyard may have ended up with the warforged parts. We can pay him a visit. Hey, Belaluur, come her for a bit" When Belaluur is out of Kalli's hearing range, Vice whispers "I'm not sure if this is valuable information, but the ghost that was working on that armor says he was hired by Tornn." Vice pops his head up to make sure Kalli is still busy looking over the items "Also, as he flew away, he mentioned that he has another workshop."
Jan 28, 2025 9:09 pm
Meepo returns back to the church with the pastries in hand. He finds Kalli and Belaluur haggling over payment for the items.
As the two artificers scramble to collect information from the pages and tomes, 37 finds a diagram for connecting the power of an earth elemental to the armour to increase its strength. He's not sure if would interfere with his own enhance armour, but he feels it could be adapted to his shield instead. As Vice finds a break in the negotiation and passes on his information, Belaluur whispers, 'If this is your way of apologizing for nearly getting my daughter killed... it's working!", she adds a greedy whispered cackle.
"Now, where were we?", Belaluur says to Kalli.

OOC:
As with Tryne, this one will take time and gold. With the higher roll, it will still be 250 gp and a small bound elemental, but it could be accomplished in three weeks of four hours each day."Now, where were we?", Belaluur says to Kalli.
OOC:
Could I get someone to roll me a d100? I'll go with whoever does it first.Jan 28, 2025 9:59 pm
The conversation between the two women gets a little heated as they continue discuss price.
Finally, Belaluur throws he hands up in exasperation, "Fine! sixty-seven!"
"And twenty, Belaluur.", Kalli says confidently.
The feisty goblin looks up at Kalli and they glare at each other for a moment. Belaluur lets out a loud laugh, breaking the tension between them. She points a little finger up at the Grey Dog, "I like you, Kalli. The Grey Dogs are lucky to have you.", she says with a crooked toothed grin. "My counter is always available, should you decide Draev isn't being as fair as I am."
Kalli offers a handshake and Belaluur takes it. The two begin filling out a pile of ledgers, documenting in detail the group's findings. At last, Kalli rejoins the group. "Well, I got us the best deal I could. Six thousand, seven hundred and twenty gold pieces!", she says with a stifled squeak of excitement. She quickly composes herself, "Per our agreement, ten percent of that is yours, Guardians of Salvation."

Vice starts mumbling and is obviously trying to do math on his fingers "Let's see, ten percent, divided by seven, minus expenses and such . . So when do we get this coin? And when will we know if your patron is coming today?"
Jan 29, 2025 6:59 pm
Meepo comes in with a box full of pastries. "I got some snacks for when the guests arrive!" he sets the box down on a table or furniture he can find that would seem like a good place for it and then listens to the conversation regarding payment and how that works out here

"We had no trouble on the way, but Ikar's people are keeping the Hall under observation. This one was watching it until Belaluur scared him off." As she speaks, an image of Ikar's lookout appears in the middle of the room, so the others can see what he looks like.
Then she half-heartedly joins the efforts to clean up the hall by using her magic to remove the worst stains while she listens disinterestedly to the talk about money. After a while, she looks around to assess the work ahead of them. Even with the help of magic, it is going to take a long time make the place presentable. She sighs and turns her attention to something more entertaining.
"The secret to successful illusion work is to create things that people won't touch, can't touch, or don't bother to touch." To illustrate her point, an illusory cactus with bright red flowers and fierce thorns appears in a corner. It is followed by a huge crystal chandelier hanging from the ceiling, and a woven tapestry depicting the fall of Cyre covering the back wall. She admires her own handiwork for a moment before she sighs again. "They won't last until our guest arrives, of course."
Then she looks thoughtfully at the door. "I don't like that Ikar's people are spying on us. Or rather, I don't like that they are gathering information on us while we do nothing to spy on them in return." Then she assumes the form of the same unremarkable middle aged scavenger as before. "I think I'll go for a walk and take a look at Ikar's base of operations."
Did I understand it correctly that our Hall is practically a neighbour to Ikar's Salvage?

Tryne raised an eyebrow at the mention of the cut. Mentally he did the math on his share, which was not bad for a couple days work. Considering almost being eaten by a spirit and incinerated by a living fireball, the stake felt considerably less generous.
He supposed he was used to getting shorted, scrappers rarely got anywhere close to the value of the things they found. Mostly likely the goods were worth three times what was being offered as payment.
He returned to studying the research documents.

Meepo counts on his fingers as he looks around. "One two three four five six..." he looks to Vice "isnt there just six of us or are you also counting Talen?"
Jan 29, 2025 11:16 pm
Vice slaps his forehead as if to loosen a thought "Oh right! We should have explained from the start, Famul gets an even cut. He used to be bossed around by the Titaness. After she fell, he didn't have a place to go and offered to help us. Didn't seem right to continue to force him to work for free. . . . " he strokes his beard and thinks a bit more. "Actually, we may need to split that 8 ways. I 'house expense fund' was also started. Man, someone should write all this down. FAMUL! Please make a note: rules, regulations, agreements and other such fluff needed to be a Guardian of Salvation', name still pending, will need to be drafted "

Sorry, my students kept me hopping today. I’ll have a post up tonight. To help, Ikar’s Salvage is a few blocks away, but then again, so is everything. It is a small town after all. The map is meant to be a guide, not exactly what’s in town. I don’t think I’ve really mentioned the population, but I’ve always envisioned about 400 people living in or near Salvation. So, there are some homes, etc in between the hall and Ikar’s. It’s not that they have line of site.
