Laulalith heads out of the hall to scope out their new rivals. She makes her way past the Traveller’s Shrine and through a block or two of smalls shacks and a bunkhouse. On the west edge of town, there is a large, two-storey house with small windows and a few horses tied to a long hitching rail out front. Laulalith recognizes the black horse of their Mournland tail is already there.
OOC:
Based on your disguises, roll me stealth check with advantage.
Also get me a perception or investigation check.
Does anyone go with her?
Belaluur
Belaluur finishes signing the ledgers with Kalli and takes one of Meepo’s scones. She takes a bite and crumbs fall off her chin as she speaks, "Everything is in order, my Dear. Have Lord Tornn come see me to discuss his payment. The items are his to claim." Famul comes in to sweep up the crumbs, following the little goblin around the hall.

"As for your gold, we’ll need to go back to the market. It’s not wise to walk around with that kind of coin in your pockets.", she says plainly.

Kalli Alran
"I will accompany you. Would someone mind coming with me? Belaluur is right, I don’t want to have all that gold by myself."
OOC:
Does anyone go with them?

"I will accompany you," 37 replies, finishing his note before joining them.
Jan 30, 2025 2:24 pm
"sure I'll come!" Meepo chimes in as he was looking forward to seeing a bit more of the town he'll be staying in.
Jan 30, 2025 3:08 pm
Torhak began to volunteer, but then thought better of it, two of the Guardians accompanying Kalli should be enough, hopefully. Instead he opted to stay behind and try to make himself useful at headquarters.

"Famul, are there any chores or work that needs to be done here that I can assist with?"
Jan 30, 2025 3:27 pm
Vice grabs his Elven cloak and follows Laulalith. "Hold on, I'll join you!"

Famul
Famul rattles as he looks up to Torhak. "the carpenter did not want to help famul... the hall needs lumber to repair the windows and roof... the carpenter sent famul away..."
Jan 30, 2025 5:37 pm
Tryne looked up from his notes as the team started to leave. "I'll hang back here for now, keep the doors barred. We probably should have some guards on this gear until we can complete the final delivery."

At the mention of lumber, "I'm not a great carpenter, but if we procure some materials, I'll be happy to help with repairs."

Looking at Talon, "Talon - alert for anyone entering the church."

The defender stands up at its place on the coach so it can easily observer the entrances into the main hall.

Tryne would continue to study the notes on the power system, even examining the armor at times to confirm something which is noted.

When Vice joins her, Laulalith sends him a broad smile that shows two missing teeth. "Glad to have you with me. Let's see what Ikar and his lot are up to." Then she lets a hand rest lightly on his shoulder "We don't have to wait for the cover of darkness to hide you from prying eyes." She sends him a mischievous wink and calls on the power of her dragon mark to make the gnome invisible.

Then she makes her way towards Ikar's salvage, careful to avoid detection.
OOC:
Using Mark of Shadows to cast Invisibility on Vice.

Edit: I messed up the Stealth roll. Corrected below.

Rolls

Stealth: Advantage + mark of shadows + guidance - (2d20H2+2+1d4)

(95) + (2) + 2 = 18

Investigation + guidance - (1d20+4+1d4)

(6) + (3) + 4 = 13

OOC:
I messed up the dice roll. Advantage was not calculated correctly and I forgot the d4 from mark of shadows.

Rolls

Steath - correct this time - (1d4+13)

(4) + 13 = 17

OOC:
Weekly reroll. Lalulalith is a spy, so she would like to have some result from her spying.

Rolls

Investigation reroll (same bonus as before) - (1d20+7)

(8) + 7 = 15

Sorry for the multiple post spam.
Only now I remembered that Guidance is concentratiion, so Lali cannot use it while keeping Vice invisible. Can we say that she uses Invisibility after she has has done her own spying? It would be a little embarassing to reveal Vice while he is sneaking around. I would like to think that Lali is more professional than that even though I didn't remember the rules.

37 and Meepo escort Kalli and Belaluur back to the Salvage Market. Once inside, the goblin takes everyone to the back room. She takes out a crooked green candle that produces a violently green coloured flame. The goblin uses it to melt blood-red coloured sealing wax and applies a seal of an elaborate and perhaps surprisingly elegant "B". When she reveals the seal, the cursive letter within glows green. She then produces a small coin purse from thin air and reaches half her arm into it. The pulls seven more, much larger pouches from inside. She counts out the coin meticulously with Kalli watching closely. Belaluur places the remainder back into the last pouch. She then flicks her wrist and the small purse disappears once more.

"I believe we’re good, Dear?", Belaluur asks.

"I must say, it was a pleasure, Ms. Belaluur.", Kalli says with a respectful nod.

"Have the Lord come see me when he arrives. 37, not that I expect anything untoward, but please keep an eye on the goods for now. If you prefer, you could bring them here, but your new place looks secure enough.", Belaluur says plainly.

Meanwhile at Ikar’s Salvage…
Laulalith and Vice find a small alleyway to move a little closer to the Ikar’s home base. They are both very confident they were not noticed. As they recon their rivals, they find the large two story is made of unpainted wood. Unlike many of the other ramshackle dwellings in town, the house feels purpose built. Short windows sit strategically placed high on the walls of each floor, preventing prying eyes. A large iron door serves as the main entrance with a smaller iron door in the back. Whether by avoidance or design, there is a wide gap of land between it and any buildings next door, giving a clear view of approach from any direction.

Three horses sit outside. With the high windows, it’s difficult to see movement inside, but the elf notices several hoof points leading away from the house. Likely much of the crew are out on a job. Laulalith knows there’s at least the watchman, Tarin and one other person inside.

Vice is still getting accustomed to being invisible, waving around hands he can't see, marveling at footprints that look like they appear out of nowhere. He whispers "I wonder if I could sneak up on Belaluur like this. How long does the spell last?" He takes the situation more serious when they are closer. "I think this is where our search ends. I don't want to risk their fury if they find we went inside. Although I am curious as to what they are keeping in there"

OOC:
You may try anything you wish. Stealth check to try to get closer. You do have advantage while invisible :)

Laulalith looks wistfully at the almost empty building. "I agree, we shouldn't escalate this rivalry ... yet. I'm sure they'll continue to bother us, so we'll probably have to return another day. For now, it's most important that they don't notice us."

Then she winks at the empty patch of air where she believes Vice is hiding. "I can keep you unseen for about an hour. So you have some time if you want it."

"I get the impression that the people of this town don't like Ikar. Let's play on that as best we can. In particular, we should not do anything that can cause them to complain to the Sheriff ... yet."

As she says it, an idea for her next performance in the Grey Beyond starts taking shape i her mind.

can Vice look into in the windows if he stands on one of their horses? ( not sure how high the windows are) If so, that's what I'll attempt.

Torhak nods, "I am sorry that happened to you Famul, I will go speak with the carpenter" Torhak then gathered up his pack and headed to the Carpenter to get the number that was needed to repair the windows and roof. He wanted to find out why the carpenter had refused to help Famul, it could be due to his previous allegiances, if the Carpenter knew, or maybe the Carpenter didn't like Warforged. Either way Torhak wanted to have the conversation with an open mind.

Meepo gives Belaluur a thumbs up. "Meepo believes the stuff will be safe" Meepo turns to 37 and Kalli "back to the chapel I guess?"

Carpenter
Torhak makes his way up Main Street. Some townsfolk nod a greeting to the large minotaur, others take a wide path around him. One recognizes him from the Grey Beyond. "Not many made that shot again!" The young man then flips a silver to Torhak, hoping he’ll catch it.

Sheriff’s jailhouse sits as a sentinel at the street’s end. Next door to it is the town’s carpentry shop. A large, middle aged man with red hair and strong arms is working on an elvish looking rocking chair. He doesn’t look up as he greets the minotaur, instead staying focused on his project. "Mornin’. What brings you in? Need an axe handle replaced?"

OOC:
The horses would likely be just tall enough if you stood on one. The house is on a stone foundation, so the windows would be about 7-8 feet up.

I would need an animal handling check to try not to spook the horses by an invisible rider trying to climb them
