While the rest of the group is examining the pot, Tryne returns upstairs to find Famul carrying the lumber to the attic. As he returns to his notes, Kalli knocks on the hall's door.

When Tryne hears the knock on the church door, he gives a quick whistle which brings Talon even more alert. The lion, poised on top of the coach, ready to launch itself at whoever is entering if needed.

He moves to the door and looks out to confirm who is there before opening it fully opening. Seeing Kalli, Tryne opens the door enough for her to enter. "Welcome back." he says politely and then quickly shuts the door behind her.

"Any news? If you want to wait for the others, they are looking around the church."

Kalli quietly steps in. "Still no news, but there’s a rumour that you may be right.", she says with a sigh. "Let’s give it a day though. The Dogs are resourceful."

She takes another of Meepo’s scones and chews on it absentmindedly. "If they’re not back tomorrow, they’ll almost assuredly be out of supplies. Perhaps we can confirm the rumours before then.", she swallows hard.

She sits in silence for awhile, before snatching her sending stone out. Tryne hears the deep voice of Lord Tornn, "I can confirm we will be in Salvation Outpost with the last rail. Where shall we meet you."

"Meet us in the old abandoned church on the south side of town.", Kalli responds. She nods to Tryne to confirm this is indeed alright.

Tryne leaned against the coach as he listened to Kalli. As he heard the Lord speak, he was glad they would have this transaction completed. But he had learned long ago that people were more important than any score.

He wasn't sure what to say, "Do you know what path the Dogs will likely be taking? I can't speak for the others, but I'd say tomorrow we could head out and see what we can find."

Kalli nods, "Of course, it would be most unwise to attempt a journey to Eston without a plan.", she says.

"We have found a number of well scouted spots that are, for lack of a better word, ‘safe’. That’s why we’re rather successful, but also worrying that they haven’t returned.", she stares at the unfinished pastry in her hand, calculating, "I would have to guide you. There’s no map for the trek."
Feb 16, 2025 1:50 pm
Tryne nodded, "The waiting is sometimes as hard as being on the job. At least if you are the one hunting, you can do something about it. Most times where I come from, we just get caught by the guards or roughed up by the gangers. Either meant a bad beating for sure. Stakes here are certainly higher. Hopefully we are worrying for not."

Tryne paused, he was just rambling and he was not sure it was even the right thing to say. He'd had mates who ended up dead in a gutter because they had something someone else wanted - but here loosing friends was probably far more likely.

In the basement, Laulalith once again considers the Hag's Cauldron. "I may be able to find a buyer for this item. Someone that would take it far away from here and keep it out of the wrong hands. I can send an inquiry if the rest of you agree to it."
OOC:
As an agent of house Phiarlan, Lali may have contacts in her house that would be interested in such a powerful item. As some of you may remember, she believes that her archfey patron is simply her Phiarlan spy master.

Laulalith catches the last part of the conversation between Kalli and Tryne when she returns to the hall. "Is there no way to get in touch with the Grey Dogs sooner? I guess you don't have a second pair of those stones, but surely someone in town can cast the spell?"

"I had not imagined going back so soon after our last excursion, but I would be willing to make the trip, and it would be ... fascinaring to journey deeper into the Mournland."

"Let's hope for the best, but prepare for something less ideal. I suggest we prepare whatever we need for a trip into the Mournland, so we are ready in case the Grey Dogs don't return as expected."

Vice returns to the main building with everyone else, but almost decides to go back to the basement when he hears talk of returning to the Mournland.
Feb 17, 2025 1:21 am
"Sell it!? Why in the world would anyone sell such an amazing item? Shoot if 37 and Vice is wanting to sell it I'd like to buy it off of them." Meepo reacts a bit louder than he planned when Laulath notes about possibly selling the cauldron.

As some start to return upstairs Meepo turns to 37. "I'm ok with trying to open it right now if you are." He reached his hand out for the small pot. If 37 hands it to Meepo then Meepo with use mage hand to try and open the pot.

Kalli listens quietly, her usual infectious smile replaced with a look of understanding. She allows a pause after Tryne finishes before she responds, "It seems no one ends up in Salvation unless they’re running from something… or searching for something, Mr. Knight.", she says with a knowing nod. She looks at Laulalith as the elf joins them, "Myself, I’m looking for something. My countrymen lost everything to that wasteland. I’m trying my best to give them back what I can.", she says in a rare moment of forlorning.

To answer Laulalith’s query, "No other sending stones and the only cleric I know in town is Mother Jahanah. She wouldn’t know the Dogs very well. They’re not exactly the Host-fearing type.", she says with a smirk.

Meanwhile, in the basement, Meepo opens the pot with his mage hand. Within the iron, he finds a black, leathery scroll, inked in blood. He can feel its dark magic pulsing as he looks upon it. 37, Vice and Torhak, see only the black. The writing seems blurry, no matter how hard they try to focus on it. Meepo, however, can clearly read its macabre runes. The words Finger of Death, strikingly scrawled across it.
OOC:
Only Meepo and Laulalith would be able to read the scroll.

"Written in Blood, powerful magic no doubt. I cannot make it out though" Torhak chuffed at the thought that there was magic that was unobtainable to him. "I am going back upstairs, try not to fall into any more traps"
Feb 17, 2025 8:29 pm
Meepo hands the spell scroll to 37. "Oh you guys have a lot of cool stuff you got here. This one is powerful. I can't believe how much energy this says it will release." He turns to Torhak with an inquisitive expression. "Ooh I'm sorry I forgot that certain spell scrolls are readable by only certain people it looks clear to me so I thought everyone was able to read it. It is a spell scroll of a very powerful spell called finger of death. It can kill most creatures by itself. Just not super strong creatures"

He turns back to 37, "I have some gold but not a crazy amount but if you ever want to sell this any of your super cool stuff I'd be happy to buy"

OOC:
Let me know if there’s anything you want to do before Lorn Tornn arrives. Kalli plans to hang out till then.

Otherwise we’ll jump ahead tomorrow.
Feb 18, 2025 2:23 pm
OOC:
Vice has nothing pressing to do. He may try to get a sending stone later.
Feb 18, 2025 2:46 pm
OOC:
Torhak also doesn't have anything else to do, if there's time to kill he will find a way to be helpful around HQ, helping Famul with repairs, or cleaning.
Feb 18, 2025 3:45 pm
37 will put the scroll back in the case, bsck in its pot, back in its hole, and shut it. "We will know where it is should we need it, but it should be safe down here," 37 explains before heading back upstairs with the others. When he catches up with Laulith, he tells her, "I am uncertain how I feel about selling the cauldron. It could cause numerous problems if the wrong persons aquired it. A part of me wishes to let it remain locked away, where I can make sure it is not being misused."
OOC:
With that, 37 is ready to jump forward a bit.

Nothing else from Tryne.

Meepo goes upstairs and is ready to jump ahead.
Feb 18, 2025 6:29 pm
Laulalith finds a seat in a quiet corner of the church and starts writing an account of her experiences in the Mournland and Salvation - in code naturally. She hopes to finish it and send the report back to her handler before the day is over.
OOC:
Ready to move ahead.

Lord Orakh Tornn
Kalli leaves the others to collect Belaluur in anticipation of Lord Tornn’s arrival. The goblin broker returns as the evening rail pulls into Salvation Station.

An entourage of three men and three half orcs escort a very large, grey skinned jhorgun'taal. His black leather trenchcoat is adorned with mismatched plate armour. Trophies of his bounty hunter past. He makes little effort to conceal the interwoven lines of a purple mark of finding upon his muscular shoulders that branches out to his chest. His escort is likewise made up of marked hunters. Their eyes skillfully scan the streets for any sign of threat. They march with purpose, directly to the church. Lord Tornn himself knocks at the side door as the rest watch the streets.
