OOC:
Technically, I guess 37 could attune during a short rest and then he can drive through the night. In the morning, Tryne can re-attune. That cuts us down to needing short rests for switching attunement.May 9, 2025 1:39 am
OOC:
Sure - Tryne recommended 37, so that works. We should make sure someone is riding shotgun with whoever is driving.

We’ll wait to see if 37 is ready to take the reins. There are two of you that won’t take exhaustion without sleep if the other rides shotgun :)

OOC:
Works for 37. He can take a short rest (as they're driving) to attune, and Tryne can stay up front to take his rest, at the end of which he can reattune... all while driving.May 9, 2025 7:09 pm

Everyone loads up. As the pair discussed, 37 takes control of the cart for the first time. Tryne runs the warforged through the levers and steering of the elemental cart. Warning to avoid backing up due to the attached wagon. As Tryne relents control, he feels a strange pang of emptiness fill his chest. Meanwhile, 37 feels a very familiar sensation of lightning course through his arm as the connection with the elemental is made, mirroring the lightning within his chest. The cart crackles to life, illuminating the muddy path ahead and 37 begins to follow Dubdub. Kalli spurs Stella and the group heads into the darkness of the swamp.

As he boards the cart, Vice is wondering what Dubdubs true form is, or how many other things he can change into.

37 can feel the cart resisting his attempt to get the cart move at the speed he knows it is capable of reaching. It takes several hours before the cart begins to slowly comply. All the while, Dubdub keeps a vigilant lookout from over head.
Now that night has fallen, the Grey’s whispers seem to shriek randomly in this swampy area. Stella is spooked several times, nearly darting into the black waters, before being reined in by Kalli.
Inside the cart, still complaining of thirst, Virtue tries repeatedly to plead with Vice to untie her. Seeing through her attempts, he wisely leaves her restrained. As they continue on, Vice’s presence begins calms Virtue down. While the goblin clearly is still drawn to the swamp, just out of her reach, she answers Vice’s earlier question.
Her voice is raspy with an uncomfortably familiar tone to it now, almost toad-like, in the black of night, the red glow in her eyes is far more evident, "Faith, Hope, Charity, Justice, Prudence, Temperance… Fortitude…", she struggles to say the last word. "Of course I kept my axes, silly. I left them in Salvation. I couldn’t risk losing them on a venture like this."

Tryne feels a little out of sorts not being the driver, but he knows this is the only way as he could not possibly drive all night while the warforged could. Still, he had become accustomed to the feel of the cart. Although he could still feel the vibrations of the elemental hum within the coach.

Despite 37’s rocky start to the journey, Tryne is able to easily follow Dubdub’s lead through the air. The cart’s lightning casts stretched shadows of the thick trees into the darkness. The ever moving shadows seem to give form to the Grey’s whispers.
On edge, the Guardians notice sporadic sets of red eyes in the swamp around them. Over the hours, they pass at least six sets of these eyes. Knowing now that these forms could be lost travellers or unfortunate creatures only reminds them of what their own fate could have been. None of the creatures approach the swamp’s edge, instead disappearing with a quiet splash beneath the inky surface when the cart’s lightning nears.
The dragon’s silhouette, lit by Eberron’s moons, eventually descends down beneath the canopy to join the rest of the group.
"I would say we’ve made it nearly halfway back to the mists.", Dubdub says, "Though, I am unable to hold this form any longer."
With that, a long white beard grows from the dragon’s chin and the golden wings flap open into a grey cloak, which drapes over his shoulders. His long slender body shrinks down and the tail disappears beneath the sleeveless robe. Tattoos appear on his forearms and a dragonmark on his face. The golden scales dissolve to reveal pale, toughened skin. His clawed right hand curls and withers into the head of a staff which stretches out to the ground. The transition lasts but a moment, revealing a pale, bald traveller with a white beard in a grey cloak holding a tall staff with a gnarled dragon’s claw at the top. His arms are muscular with peculiar tattoos. Across the right side of his face is a deep purple dragonmark. On the left side of his face is a dark red tattoo, mirroring his mark.
He bows his head slightly, "William Windchaser at your service. The animals call me Dubdub."

Tryne had a note book out of his satchel in moments, making notes. He had never seen a full shapeshift before. Tryne's mind was going over the runes he knew, glancing at the plate gauntlet he wore on his left hand for reference. He wondered if he could duplicate that effect. Would take some research. The idea of Talon being able to shift into other forms was interesting.
"I'm Tryne, thank you for the help you have already given. We would not have made it without you. Are you a druid? I've heard they can shapeshift, but coming from the city, this is pretty much my first trip into the wilderness, well second I guess."

A faint, translucent blue sphere begins to glow around Dubdub. Those within the sphere feel their wounds begin to heal.
