Tomo turns her head towards the sound of the commissary creature breaking free.

"...Yeah, I should've expected that," Tomo laments. If there's no obvious exit, or nothing of interest to Rocketeer, Tomo will continue down the stairwell to the next floor to find an exit.

"Yep, that's our cue to leave."

Rocketeer doesn't stick around to look at anything. She follows Tomo, but while she's doing so, she enhances the auditory input of her helmet and tries to isolate the whispering so she can catch what's being said.

You both are already on the first floor, and you don't see any sort of basement access. Since the facility's layout has been straightforward so far, it's a safe bet there aren't any below-ground levels.

You're able to exit the facility via any number of blown-apart sections of wall...or the old-fashioned way, by using a damaged door in the admin room. However, the door has "EMERGENCY EXIT - DO NOT LEAVE UNLESS SITUATION IS CRITICAL" on it, along with several other similarly-worded warnings.

Outside, you see the same thing you saw earlier, when you were peering out from the third floor: rocky terrain, an ominous sky, far-off mountains.

Although Rocketeer's tech allows her to "zoom in" on the noise, the language being spoken is unknown...if it's even a language at all. It sounds like gibberish, punctuated with squeals, cackles, and snarls. Despite all this, you can detect that there are three different entities "conversing." You can also detect a sort of passive-aggressiveness to the exchange, like the three are perpetually aggrevied whiners who nevertheless believe themselves to be big shots.

"I'm picking up the sound of three distinct beings. They seem to be talking to each other, surprisingly, but it's no language I've ever heard." Rocketeer reverts her helmet's auditory input to normal.

She steps out of the facility through one of the holes in the walls. "I think we should start by getting a bird's-eye view of the surrounding area. We need to figure out where we are. Frankly, I'm starting to doubt we're still in the same dimension. Would love to be wrong though." She offers an armored hand to Tomo. Her jets hum as they come to life, prepared for immediate takeoff.

Tomo absentmindedly places her hand so that it rests limply in Rocketeer's palm, like a pet doing a handshake.

"...Dimension? You don't look 2D, and I don't know what 4D would be like...unless 4D is like those movie theaters with the chairs that shake. I know that."

Rocketeer picks Tomo up and takes to the skies, leaving the OmniCorp prison behind. She's mainly focused on surveying their surroundings from above.

Rocketeer and her cargo (Tomo, who may or may not puke again) jet up into the dark clouds. The clouds are actually significantly warmer than the open air, but don't seem to harm the duo in any noticeable way.

As you ascend, you notice three small, red, winged figures below. The creatures exit the facility through the same hole you did. However, they don't chase after you; the clouds apparently obscure you.

Instead, the creatures stop at the third floor of the facility. Peering into a gash in the outer wall, they shriek, then rush inside. Rocketeer's armor detects a telepathic burst. Evidently American Dream is still alive, and is now fighting the "imps." Which side will prevail? Do Rocketeer or Tomo even care?

The imps moved too fast, and were too far away, for you to get a reading on their capabilities.

The thick clouds limit visibility, and neither of you can see a sun or light source. The maroon lighting in this place seems to simply exist. Rocketeer's armor is struggling to determine directions; even this place's magnetic field is wacky.

Eventually, her systems approximate compass bearings.

To the south, you see a large body of water. The water is dark blue, almost black. This is about 10 miles away.

To the east, you see the strange, stormy mountains you saw earlier. This is about 25 miles away.

To the north, the ground slopes down into a valley, and within the valley are even deeper chasms. This is about 10 miles away.

To the west, you see...something. Stone ruins? Or just poorly-designed buildings? Whatever they are, they cover a space about the size of a medium-sized village. This is about 15 miles away.

Below you, the OmniCorp facility is a dull-grey, damaged cube. You don't see any outbuildings, or any roads. The roof has some antennae and various other techy stuff, most of it damaged.

No, Tomo couldn't say that she cares much about the imps or American Dream. She does, however note, how similar the imps look to her lawyer. Looking around, Tomo does agree that this does not appear to be the idyllic plains of Kansas.

"I'd say we start by figuring out a way to get home, but that's easier said than done. For now, I'll take us to those ruins. See if we can find anything usable there."

Just as she says, she flies westward toward the stone ruins-slash-buildings. Upon arrival, she comes in for a landing near the ruins and puts Tomo down. She proceeds with caution, in case there are hostiles nearby.

Unfortunately, the duo don't make it to the ruins without something happening. Fifteen miles is a long way, after all.

Seven miles into their journey, the flight has been uneventful, besides them weaving in and out of the strangely warm clouds. The ground below is still rocky and lifeless. At one point, you both see what appears to be a flock of birds to the north, but even that could've just been your eyes playing tricks on you.

Then, as you fly by a butte, Rocketeer's armor detects a projectile flying directly towards you. You don't know exactly what it is, besides Rocketeer's screens showing it's a spear-like object. It'll be on you almost instantly, so you have to decide what to do now.

Both of you determine what to do, then roll the relevant cliche. Both of you are rolling for this. This will be a target number roll.

The frosty fellow of fortitude's physical attacks have had little effect, and his retreat attempt failed. So he tries a different tactic, using his experience as a coach to hopefully pierce through Bulwark's tough, anti-social demeanor.

"Listen, man: I dunno if OmniCorp brainwashed you or something, or if you're just like this...but think about your life, your legacy. As powerful as you are, you could do so much good! And I'm sure OmniCorp doesn't appreciate you; they're not a real team. As Mickey Mantle once said: A team is where a boy can prove his courage on his own. A gang is where a coward goes to hide...."

He continues in this vein for several more seconds. Will this talk work?

The talk works...barely! Though Bulwark snarls and snorts, and calls Chillmera all sorts of names, he reduces his power to 50%, then drops down to the ground.

No longer eager to fight, he stares off into the middle distance, thinking about...well, you don't know what he's thinking about, but the constantly-shifting emotions on his face tell you he's going through some intense stuff.
Victory! The inappropriate cliche win nukes 3 dice, so Bulwark is kaput. You now get to decide the fate of your foes.

But Echo was part of your team, of course, and she has something to say about that....

Echo staggers over, her confidence returning now that the battle's won.

"Gotta admit, they were tougher'n I thought. Especially this big lug...."

Sneering, she pokes Bulwark with her toe, but the cyborg only continues staring into space.

"Hilarious! You crumble like a house of cards when the right words are used, huh? Guess you're not as sadistic as you think...."

Turning to Fei-fei and Chillmera: "Anyway, you two do what you want with him and the goons. And be swift, before reinforcements arrive. Then I'm killing all of 'em...unless you wanna help? I don't mind sharing."

Tomo, not possessing the high tech doodads that Rocketeer has, doesn't even notice the unidentified missile coming towards them. Hopefully whoever is watching from above (in a metaphysical sense) has had their appetite for misfortune sated by recent events.
