Tomo shrugs as she pops a cheese ball into her mouth. Millions of dollars have probably went into optimizing this modified corn product for maximum satisfaction and retention, but maybe Omnicorp has yet to reach into foreign markets.

"Thanks Chak...if you're going to go to the cube, be careful. There's some imps or something hanging around? And a crazy lady."

Once parting words are over with, Tomo lets Matilda hoist her down the butte. She could get used to this, a prospect made ever more appealing by the imminent trek on foot.

Chillmera sighs. Killing them may have been a smart choice, but not something he could bring himself to do. "I guess I'll see if there's rope or something in that ship." He calls out to Echo, "Wait, you dont want to find your sister?!"

"Why is everyone so obsessed with killing around here? Is it an American thing? Jeez, just chill." Fei-fei shrugs and finds a seat, curious about Echo's answer for Chillmera's question along with watching him tie up their defeated foes. "Might need a bit more than rope for for the fullmetal dingus there."

Chak gives an orcish wave (which is really just pointing an index finger at the other person), and scrambles down the butte as well, heading for the cube.

Rocketeer and Tomo head north on foot. It's a slower pace, of course, but nothing hinders them to start with. The wind wails through the rocks, the clouds roll by. If one didn't mind the blasted apocalyptic landscape, it'd be almost peaceful.

You're about three-quarters of the way to your destination when you reach a valley cloaked in fog. The fog is still, seemingly immune to the wind; it's like it's been there for eons. You both also feel a slight chill as you stand on the slope leading down to the valley.

Is it time to risk flight, and easily zoom over the fog? Or will you walk straight through it? Or maybe you'll try to walk around the valley entirely, and add miles to your journey?

OOC:

Whatever you decide, explain how you'll handle this obstacle, then both of you roll the applicable cliche.

Chillmera will find some unopened coils of TitanThread™ in the ship. The hyperbolic OmniCorp marketing calls it "the toughest and most affordable rope ever made," but it actually is high quality. If knotted up tightly, the goons should have a hard time freeing themselves. But as Fei-fei notes, Bulwark is a different matter....

Echo frowns at Chillmera's question, but does eventually answer.

"She's not my sister. She's my clone. Or rather, I'm a clone of her. A better version, apparently, since I'm free, while she stupidly got tossed into Malkengard."

"You know, I fantasized about a 'family reunion,' but...[long pause]...I don't have time for chumps. So I'll leave the saving to you. That is, if she can be saved; Garroway probably mind-wiped her, and if he hasn't yet, whatever happened to the Malkengard portal doesn't bode well for her."

"Anyway, ta-ta! If you need me, contact me through our mutual hacker-slash-engineer friend! But only if it's really important! I'm a busy girl!"

Now she does finally jet away, flying high above the nearby woods. The sound of her jetpack fades away, until it's silent once more...well, besides the sounds of nature, the crackling of burning debris, and the grunts of Bulwark. So not silent at all.

What exactly is the obstacle we're rolling for?

Once they reach the metaphorical fork in the road, Tomo bends over panting from exertion. Props to her for keeping up, when a few flights of stairs is usually enough to get Tomo struggling to catch her breath. At least she got to take some nice pictures of the landscape on her phone.

Sensing the chill of the fog, Tomo turtles up inside her hoodie.

"...Does your suit have X-ray vision, Matilda? This looks like a horror movie..."

Chiming in on the Bulwark captive conundrum. Omnicorp didn't bring along power nullifier collars to capture Echo, Fei Fei, and Chillmera like they did for Tomo, Rocketeer, and Ragnar?

You're rolling to deal with the fog, and whatever other danger is possibly lurking about. However you decide to do it...walk through it, fly over it, walk around it, or some other method. Target number roll.

Yes, there could be nullifier collars about. But where?!

Chillmera looks around after tying up the guards, before saying to Fei-Fei, "Well, unless you have an idea of how to find, and eventually rescue those three, I guess this is goodbye? Thanks for your help stopping these guys from killing me."

Not sure how to proceed storywise, I feel like my character wouldn't know how to get to Malkengard, or that inhibitor collars exist

Fei-fei shrugs again. "I was just planning to go poke around in Omicorp and see what the sitch is. I have no idea where this Malkengard place y'all were chatting about is. It was nice meeting you."

Does seem like a bit of a dead end besides causing general havoc, which luckily Fei-fei is good at. XD

Rocketeer slaps her armored forehead. "Shit, I must've gotten hit in the head harder than I thought. Yeah, I've got x-ray packed into this baby, and if we're lucky, it still works right. Though, my gut's telling me this fog might be magical in nature. We could get lost, or our minds could be tampered with, or something freaky is waiting in there, looking for its next meal."

She looks back at Tomo. "Tired already, huh? I guess you don't go hiking much. Fog's too risky, and I won't torture you with a walk around the valley. We'll fly over this fog, and I'll use my suit's sensors to see whatever's in there before it sees us. And if necessary, they eat missiles. Sound good?"

A simple enough game plan. Tomo nods and holds her arms out to the side to make it easier for Matilda to pick her up, already too used to this arrangement. She doesn't have much to contribute but her fairly normal eyes, but she's gotten some amount of intuition over her life of out-of-the-blue misfortunes.

Just as she says, Rocketeer picks Tomo up and begins flying over the foggy valley at high speeds. She engages the x-ray vision built into her visor so she can hopefully keep an eye out for anything that dwells in the fog.

I was hoping you'd be interested in trying to save the two trapped in Malkengard, and this would be a team-forming moment.

If people don't want to continue this storyline, I can fast-forward to tomorrow, which would be Day 3. Everyone will be back on Earth, at Jimmy Z's house, cliches healed, with Eliza's promised reward for retrieving the ingot. I'll give a brief summary of how Tomo/Rocketeer got back to Earth, and how Fei-fei/Chillmera met them. Then you can get to know each other and "officially" team up.

Let me know OOC. I won't post any more IC stuff until I've heard from everyone.
