Episode 1: The Salvaged Job

In the darkness, Kalis can see the dim shape of a skeleton lying at rest. Tattered rags of what were once robes manage to keep most of the bones together. Peculiarly, the skull is missing.

Next to the skeleton there are three small ceramic urns sealed with a crumbling wax. One urn contains two lapis lazuli stones (worth 5 gp each), while the other has a tiger's eye gemstone (worth 10 gp). The third urn is heavier, and contains 50 pieces of silver coins.

Lying upon the skeleton's chest is a small rod of wrought iron. At one end is a small ivory marble held in place by four prongs that rise from a twisted pattern in the iron. The other end tapers from halfway down the rod to a sharp point. For Kalis, he is familiar enough with such items that he is certain this is a wand.

At the skeleton's side there is a small dagger that seems fairly untouched despite the decay inside the sarcophagus.

Kalis grabs the items from the sarcophagus and then joins the others.

Most of the party is now in the room, which is bare of any decoration and furniture. It is, essentially, empty save for yourselves. There is a portcullis on the north wall, and a door to the east. What do you wish to do?

Daniel follows the others into the next room. "Kalis, what's that you found?"
Mar 14, 2017 1:06 am
Kalis explains each of the items he's found, including his suspicion that the dagger may be magical.

"May I?" Daniel extends a hand.
Mar 14, 2017 1:25 am
Kalis shrugs and hands over the dagger, "Yeah, I don't mind."
Mar 14, 2017 1:31 am
Daniel takes the knife and flips it over in his hand a few times.

The dagger feels well-balanced with a slender and keen edge.

Maenor frowns in thought. "It troubles me greatly that the skull was missing. I have a spell that may aid us in identifying the nature of these objects, but perhaps it would be best to finish our explorations first?" he gestures at the closed door.
Mar 15, 2017 10:33 pm
Maenor gives the closed door a once-over, and determines that it is not trapped, nor is it locked. Opening the door reveals a north-south hallway. Maenor can see to the north that after a slight bend, the hallway leads to an arch and chamber beyond; the dim outline of shields and swords can be seen against the wall. To the south, the hallway takes a sharp turn and extends further into darkness, and there is another closed door visible at the corner.

Geno follows Daniel, sword at the ready in case more inanimate objects decide to spring to live. The headless skeleton was... unnerving, particularly considering the shrieking library before it.

Maenor follows as well, continuing to hold his shield at the ready but with his mace at his belt.

Coda backtracks and keeps Kalis company so they aren't alone.
Mar 19, 2017 7:19 pm
Kalis follows with the others, one hand on his staff and his other fingering the wand, wondering what secrets it might hold.

You find yourselves in a room surrounding by weapon racks made of rotted wood. There are many rusted swords that cling precariously to the racks, each blade pitted and uneven. Round shields sit on the ground against the wall below the swords with shriveled planks of wood between rusted bands of metal.

There is a closed door in the southeast corner.
Mar 21, 2017 4:31 pm
It is easy to tell that the swords and shields are worthless and would likely crumble to the touch. Any identifying marks have long since vanished to time.

However, Maenor spots something behind the weapon rack in the northeast corner. He is unable to tell specifically what it is, but it is within the wall and does not appear anywhere else in the room.
