Episode 1: The Salvaged Job

The ogre zombie shudders from the forceful impact of the arcane bolts, chunks of rotted flesh exploding off to expose bone. Black ooze seeps down the zombie's body.

The ogre zombie seems uncaring about the divine flames that descend upon itself, but the damage shows as chunks of rotted flesh singe and burn away.

The arcane words wash over the zombie's head.

A guttural roar sounds from within the ogre's belly, sending bits of ooze and rotted flesh spilling from the gaping maw. It stumbles backward away from the portcullis.Map

As the ogre zombie lurches away, Daniel takes the opportunity to lunge with his rapier. He thrusts the blade deep into the creature's spine, which causes the zombie to shudder in place. The rotting ogre stumbles away, sliding off the sword, and takes two plodding and unsteady steps before collapsing to the ground.Map

The pieces of parchment have been damaged by time, but Maenor is able to glean bits of information. The words are written in an older form of Common, with frequent misspellings and abbreviations, and the penmanship is horrible.Kalis finds a few broken knives, spikes, and hooks scattered about the room, as if flung to the walls or smashed against the floor. The table has been cracked down the middle from a great force from above, but Kalis does notice that the surface has a large dark stain that nearly encompasses the whole area.

Nothing else remains of the skeletons except for robes that disintegrate upon touch.

It takes a few minutes, but Maenor is able to piece together and recite the following fragments:

Time has made it difficult to identify exactly what it is, but Kalis has seen similar stains of blood and other bodily fluids in tombs and morgues. He is reasonably confident that bodies once laid upon the slab.
