Distracted by the words of the bard, the wight does not see Maenor's mace slam into its shoulder. It spins around from the impact, just in time to have a blast of fire explode into its face. Thrown backward, it slams against the wall and collapses to the ground. The sword clatters to the side.

Half of its head is missing, smoke and ash sizzling dry flesh. Its one baleful eye casts a gaze across you all, and as the ash spreads across its body, dissolving into dust, that same wheezing laugh hisses through. It starts as a chuckle, slowly deepening into mirthful guffaws.

Soon, all that remains are a set of broken leathers, a heavy-looking cloak, and the creature's sword. Silence settles throughout the tomb.
OOC:
Combat over!
Sep 25, 2017 7:42 pm
As silence takes the tomb, Coda closes his eyes and clutches his flute close to his chest and shares in the tomb's silence. After a moment, without opening his eyes, "Maenor, I think you're best equipped to deal with the sword. I think we should return to the surface and inform the goblin what's happened; see if it's really over, things don't laugh like that in death."
Sep 25, 2017 11:31 pm
Maenor frowns darkly, deeply disturbed by the creature's laughter. He takes the heavy cloak and carefully wraps the sword, careful not to touch it. Taking rope from his pack, he ties it rather excessively, to the point that it will take quite some time to be able to unwrap it.

OOC:
All ready here too.

OOC:
Yup, let's get out of here!

Battered and weary, you climb the stairs to the surface and crawl through the stone wall and between close tree roots. It almost feels like the rock and wood have constricted, squeezing tighter as if to prevent you from leaving, but you all manage to push through and find yourselves standing outside the mound, breathing fresh air.

The first thing you notice is the sound of birdsong, faint twitters in the canopy nearby.

The second thing you notice is the smell of a campfire and cooked flesh, wafting in from the direction you left your horses.

You make your way to where you had secured your steeds and find them standing casually together, all semblance of nervousness gone. A small fire within a ring of stones sits in a cleared area not too far away, flames licking at a tent of small animals spitted upon thin metal skewers. The white-haired goblin sits cross-legged next to the fire, facing your approach.

It stands, using its small staff as support. "You're back," it says casually, though a tone of surprise is mixed within. "That was quick."
Sep 28, 2017 7:20 pm
"Yes, we're back. And we killed your great evil, too," Kalis says with an exhausted sigh.
Sep 28, 2017 7:35 pm
The white-haired goblin nods. "Already the land feels cleaner," it says, glancing up to the trees. "More alive. Come, sit and rest. I have just put food on the fire." It gestures for you to approach the warmth.
Sep 29, 2017 12:03 am
Maenor nods gratefully, "Thank you." He sits and places his burden nearby, sitting in silent thought. It didn't feel quick to me. I feel years older. And I worry about what we brought with us out of the darkness.
Sep 29, 2017 12:24 am
Coda doesn't make it as far as the makeshift camp, collapsing under his weight a couple feet away from it, letting out an exhausted groan as he hits the ground "A rest sounds nice..."
Sep 29, 2017 6:40 am
OOC:
You can all take a long rest if you like. Anything you'd wish to do in the meantime?

And everyone gains a level!
Sep 29, 2017 1:34 pm
Kalis settles down on the ground and then lays down, "I miss my bed," he says with a chuckle.
OOC:
I'll level tonight
Sep 30, 2017 4:46 am
"I miss your bed too." Coda slurs in a half delusion state, as he begins to inchworm crawl towards the camp zone.
OOC:
Took College of Lore. I briefly remember you saying we take max HP when we level. Is this correct or am I misremembering?
