"Ah, shame it is that far, thanks anyway." Coda pulls 3 gold out from his pouch, places it on the counter and looks at Daresouk "I don't really feel like dealing with change. I'll sell you this chest, mind you only the chest not its contents, for the one gold and two silver I owe. How does that sound? I'm practically paying you to take it at that price." Coda lets out a chuckle.
OOC:
Sorry, I totally forgot about the map.

Daresouk squints at the halfling, then pushes the lantern aside to clear some room on the counter. "Let me see it," he says.

"Sure thing," Coda grunts as he hefts the chest onto the counter "it is hardly used, only used it to hold my miscellaneous."

The chest is pink mahogany with gold trimming. A slight lavender and vanilla scent emanates from within from the perfume and soap stored there.
OOC:
Edit: If that is allowed, otherwise it is just a standard chest that smells slightly like lavender and vanilla.

Geno looks up from his money.

"That's a fascinating piece. Where did you come by it?"
Oct 12, 2016 3:58 pm
Daresouk grunts at Coda, gesturing for the halfling to remove the items from within the chest.

Maenor finds a reasonably well-stitched long-sleeved shirt and a faded leather waistcoat. There is one pair of pants of the right length, but its waist seems a size too large for the elf.

Coda nods and puts the three gold on the counter and slides it towards Daresouk, then starts moving everything in the chest to the backpack.
While moving items, he looks over to Geno and smiles "My father made it, we is or was a wood worker, not sure what he is doing nowadays. If we are ever in the area and have some time, we'll have to stop by and I'll introduce you. If he is still crafting, perhaps he'll make you one."

Daresouk begins to inspect the chest. He checks the hinges, the exterior, the underside, and even feels the interior. He rubs a thumb against the surfaces and even goes so far as to sniff the metal ornaments.

Finally, he shrugs. "Right enough," says the dwarf, taking the 3 gold pieces and then putting the chest under the counter. "Yer trim's fake, just so you know."

Maenor patiently waits his turn to pay for the clothes. He's a deft hand with needle and thread and is quite used to having to take things in.

OOC:
It'll be 5 silver for a set of common clothes, 2 gold for traveler's clothes, assuming either of those are what Maenor was interested in.

Coda gives a hearty laugh "Of course it is, it was made by my father, haha." Seeing Maenor waiting behind him, Coda moves to the side, gesturing to Maenor that he's finished, and finishes setting everything in his backpack.

Anyone else shopping at the general store? What will the party do afterward?
Oct 12, 2016 11:07 pm
Kalis merely browses the store, but doesn't make any purchases. When everyone is done with their shopping, he suggests that they hurry down to the docks.
Oct 12, 2016 11:13 pm
Coda nods, "Thank you, Mr. Orecloak." he says with a smile, as he hoists his new backpack over his shoulder and makes his way to the door, for a small head start to the docks.

The street to the docks runs past several homes before it switches back upon itself down to the harbor. There, merchant buildings and stalls dominate the road, pressed together to take advantage of any available space. Already a crowd of locals have gathered to browse the daily catch from fishmongers and local produce from grocers, while other vendors cater trinkets and sundries.

As you walk through the market, you see a pair of leather-clad individuals in matching uniforms, each armed with a shortsword and bearing the insignia of a winged talon; the mark of the Eglar Eagles, the local guard. This pair, a human man and woman, stand at a T-intersection keeping an eye on the crowd. You walk across their gaze, but the guards make no move to stop you, nor do they seem that interested in your passing.

You find yourselves at the harbor. The commercial section of the docks sees the most activity at this hour as cargo ships unload a variety of goods, and a steady procession of porters on foot or in wagons and carts haul these materials to warehouses or other destinations. A hubbub of calls between hoist-and-winch operators and longshoremen on deck combine with captains' orders to their crews to create a hectic miasma of noise.

Standing out amidst this chaos, positioned centrally before the warehouses, is a raised platform upon a stone base. There is a table behind a low wooden banister covered by a canvas awning, and behind it are three individuals that seem unfazed by the din surrounding them. Two are clad in chain mail and closed-face helmets, and armed with crossbows and long blades. This pair flank a seated dark-robed individual with an elongated reptilian snout colored as white as the ocean froth visible from beneath the raised cowl.

A large tapestry hangs against the front face of the stone, colored a bright crimson edged in black. In the middle of this tapestry is a circle of inwardly-facing sharp teeth, with elongated maxillary and mandibular canines. This image, reminiscent of a dragon's open maw, is the royal crest of Caer Tan.

Deducing that a chartered vessel would not be amongst the commercial ships, you head in the opposite direction where smaller, yet longer docks hold several boats of varied size and make. There isn't much of a crowd here, and the few individuals you do see appear to come and go from a small shanty nearby. A sign above the door reads in Common, "Harbormaster."

Stepping up to the door, Coda places his hand on it and turns to the party "Well, we might be a bit late and as Rhiann said the man has little patience, so prepare for the possibility of harsh words directed towards the lot of us." While still addressing the party as a whole, he looks at Kalis and Geno in particular and smiles "I've noticed that some of you don't fair well under chastising, so if it comes to that, I will try to take the brunt of it." Coda turns back to the door, pushes it open and enters calmly.

This small shanty is a single room of simple decor. A large table dominates the center while cabinets and shelves line the walls behind it. The walls near the front door where you entered are bare except for a few notices regarding an increase in dock fees and upcoming scheduled maintenance.

Seated at the table is an overweight middle-aged, balding human wearing roughworn clothes. Before him are several ledgers, all closed, while he rests his hands upon the table with fingers interlaced. Inkwells and quills are organized neatly to one side, while a sheaf of parchment and other papers are piled opposite.

"Yes?" he asks, in a voice that sounds as tired as his current expression.
Oct 14, 2016 7:45 pm
Coda walks up to the table "I agree, it is far too early to function but the world waits for no one, so hopefully you can help us out. We are scheduled to leave on a ship named 'The Fortune Star'. Do you know where it berths?"
