Miyana Dradov grew up in a relatively typical environment on the outskirts of Kelvin. Since she could walk, she learned to fire a bow and often accompanied her father on his frequent hunting expeditions. He taught her the art of creating a bow and fletching arrows, and she created the bow she currently uses, having carved it herself from yew wood. She was only 16 when she left home to seek her fortune in the world and left with her parents' blessing. She visits them whenever she is in the vicinity of Kelvin.

In her travels, she has honed several skills and has learned the value of a well-placed compliment or flirt. She is unafraid to use her sexuality to get what she wants, though she seldom carries through with her flirtatious promises. Her father has an intense dislike of Thyatians, which has manifested in his daughter. Miyana considers the Thyatians boorish and loud and does little to hide her distaste for them. In her eyes, they are invaders in her beloved country.

I'd like to introduce her as a fellow explorer who has come upon the ruins and entered out of curiosity, avoiding encounters through pure good fortune.

Great job on the background write-up, @WhtKnt. Kelvin is a solid choice for Miyana’s backstory. Baron Desmon Kelvin (yes, they renamed Lavv—the home of the legendary King Halav*—after Desmon’s father) perfectly embodies everything that both Miyana and her father despise about the Thyatians. He cares far more about perfecting his swordsmanship, horseback riding, and war strategy than about actually ruling. On top of that, he's a member of the militant Crystal Order and a zealot to boot.

*Incidentally, the name of the hero 'Halav', literally means 'from Lavv' in Traladaran

Regarding the "Potion of Heroism" is that these rules? If so I am guessing I gain nothing from it because I am not a non-magic casting class? Or do I fall into the "Normal Humans" category?
Quote:
Normal humans and characters of a combat-focused, non-magic using class (e.g. dwarf, fighter, halfling) who drink a potion of heroism temporarily gain additional levels. The number of levels gained depends on the character’s normal experience level:

Normal human: Gain the abilities of a 4th level fighter.
1st–3rd level: Gain 3 levels.
4th–7th level: Gain 2 levels.
8th–10th level: Gain 1 level.
11th level+: No effect.
Effects: All abilities of the additional levels are gained, including extra hit points.

Damage: Damage suffered while under the effects of this potion is first deducted from the pool of additional hit points granted.

I would have you fall under the normal human category. I dont like it that an average joe could benefit from this potion, while a 1st level magic users could not.

Awesome, so would I take max 1d8 and then roll 3d8 for the 'temp' hit points? Or would it be roll all 4? Would I add my con mod to those temp hp?

I think Boudica's best contribution here will be to stand behind the front person trying repeatedly to turn undead. And alas as a level 1 cleric I don't even have any healing yet...

Madclergy - You would roll 4d8 and add constitution modifier for each die (you will be considered a 4th level fighter). It’s a very powerful short-term boost, and since it seems like you have a handle on the battle after all, you might consider saving it for later.

@Drgwen – I think you’re right. A single successful turn undead could easily end the fight (though you have been unlucky with the dice rolls so far, unfortunately)

I’ll pick Will as the one holding off the Zombies, as he is the only one who didn’t say he is retreating back the stairs. You can decide to swap on round 3.

Ah1 There we go! A 10 on Turn Undead.
Feb 19, 2025 1:31 pm
Great! You should roll 2d6 to see how many HD are effected. Each zombie has 2 HD, so even a minimal roll will turn at least one.

I'm assuming you're venturing forward, yes? And does anyone *cough* *cough* plans on looting the bodies of the zombies? (former adventurers, yes?). This IS old-school dnd...
Feb 20, 2025 8:39 pm
Me! Well, actually I’ll leave it to someone else. It feels a bit most of character for boudica.
Feb 21, 2025 3:24 am
Miyana takes a cursory glance at the bodies as they pass. If anything in particular catches her eye, she will stop for a closer look.
Feb 21, 2025 11:23 am
Will stoops low, avoiding zombie hands, and searches the bodies.

What are the properties of a Steel Longsword exactly? Are they not all steel in this world? I hope it’s awesome loot! :)
A steel sword is just a regular sword. The weapons and armor you found in the ruins were all bronze, but this sword was found on the zombie's adventurer's body.

Ah, that’s right, thx.

Whoa this is a very not good location we’re stumbling into here!

Can Will take a parting strike at the skeleton as it flees?
