GM wanted for some Critical Rolling in D&D5e2024

Be sure to read and follow the guidelines for our forums.

In the What would you like to play tread we were a few who talked about wanting to play with the new rules for Dungeon and Dragons 5e 2024 rules. (free rules are avalible on DnDBeyond.)
On top of that Call of the Netherdeep was mentioned as a desired adventure.
OOC:
Personally I would be happy with any adventure not publiched by WotC
Now I know that recruiting a GM is almost impossible, but this is the season for X-mas Miracle

Who are we?
I'm Runekyndig, have been on this site for almost 6 years and have logged in almost everyday. I'm a steady player and I am familiar with the GM site and features. I can assiste with any techical issues

soises I can vouch for as a dedicated and stable player. We played for 1-2 years in a Baldurs Gate 2 game

WhiteDwarf, I would love to have the same praise for WhiteDwarf as I had for soises, but I havent played with him yet

I think advertising for a GM is a great idea, and I hope finding one doesn't require a Christmas miracle.

I'd volunteer, but unfortunately I know nothing about Critical Role, DM only WotC content, and am a little booked up with two GoS games. But I hope this isn't the last "GM Wanted" thread we see here.

In it to win it. If we can cajole someone to kindly GM, I’m sure we can support a great game. Let’s make this happen.

Oh yeah this is why whenever a 5e game gets announced applications go wild and it fills up super fast. Would love to play this but getting a GM like you said is the hard part

Not sure I'm the DM for you and besides I'm running 3 games already, but just trying to help you here.
For me to consider this I would like to be hooked into this - I would like to know why Call of the Netherdeep and why CR ?
- do you think Call of the Netherdeep railroaded story is more fun to tell compared to any WotC story? Why?
- do you hope to see CR type of roleplay from players and Matthew Mercer's DMing style from DM?
- any other reasons?

P.S. in my humble opinion WotC has been working very hard to create modules attractive to DMs. I could imagine at least two very good reasons they would do that I totally understand them. However I wouldn't be surprised to find other modules designed more attractive to players and less to a DM. Could it be the case with Call of the Netherdeep ?

I was actually looking into preparing something to GM soon...

However...

I have not bothered to look at the new rules yet and I'm not very familiar with Wildermount... It's also unlikely that i'll have the time to do any fancy graphics/music or battle-maps next year (so definitely not Adam-level GMing) ... Probably not the Xmas miracle you were hoping, more likely your nightmare before Xmas 😅

Maybe try the recommended 1-3 level adventure first: Wildemount: Unwelcome Spirits?

That is also a very high bar to set ;)

Good question. I have personally no deep love for CR, have hardly seen / heard any of their recorded play. I have more faith in third party publishers to make interesting adventures and not to drop a a mustache twirling villain mono-logging at me. Recently WotC products have begone to feel tailored to sell copies more then being interesting to play. Corporate greed, over passion for storytelling.
OOC:
I might have been unlucky with my resent WotC experinces and/or have grown cynical

I am willing with 3 stipulations.

You join a campaign in beyond that I'll create and y'all create your Characters there. That'll give you access to the 24 phb and dmg maybe a few other books, we can discuss.

Join my discord server so you get notified when new posts happen. Also good for ooc discussions.

I can't officially start till after Jan 6th. I'll accommodate posting as fast or slow as you'd like but when my wife is home, I tend to spend time with her and post less often if she's not busy doing stuff. We can do character creation and discuss the adventure before then.
I'd like to get a feel for your expectations and the vibe you want to experience prior to kicking into high gear.

Also, I'll ask for feedback fairly regularly just to keep it fun.

That sounds amazing @Eyes! Thank you
If you PM links to your discord and DnDBeyond I will get on it and we can chat back and forth about character concepts plot idears ect.

For posting rate I personally likes 5 posts pr week. That is one pr day with a day off for being tired and one when the wife has that look in her eye.

That is well with me too, I’ll look forward to it!
Thanks so much. :)

Thanks again to Runekyndig for starting this thread. Great idea! :D

As I am down to one semi active group atm, I am more than willing to start two new groups in the coming weeks. ;-9

+ Because I am a fan of the first two CR seasons and loved their podcast. And being able to play in this world, is something I am looking forward to very much.
+ Call of the Netherdeep has good reviews and so I'm very hyped to give it a go. My Pen&Paper DM isn't interested and can't be bribed or persuaded (I tried!) to change her views and so I am asking here. :)
+ No, I don't expect any CR level of roleplay from the DM or fellow players. But I'ld love to experience the same lightheartedness, trust and cameraderie between the characters. I always admired that about CR.

This sounds awesome! I am in, if you take me.

Your three conditions are absoultely no problem for me, Eyes. And I love to give (and getting!) feedback.

Please open your discord server as soon as possible, so that we can start collecting ideas and compare expectations and preferences. :)
