Mercer credits

Dec 18, 2024 2:10 am
As Daryen said, I'm setting aside all financial matters to focus on the content of the last chapter. But I think it's fair that PhoenixScientist wants to know how much money Mercer ended up with, a "score" kind of thing.

So we will use this side thread for this. The other players can focus on the main topic.

Anyway, at the end of chapter 8.1, Mercer had 75% shares in Therion Provisions Inc., 927 credits and...

Drugs, Raw Materials
Types: Agricultural, Biotech, Bulky
Base (galactic) price: 200 credits/ton
Special: Restricted or somehow harder to buy/sell in some planets
Amount: 50 tons
Sells in Englene Station for: Please roll 4d6h3+1 to let us know

Viridian root extract
Types: Rare, Medical
Base (galactic) price: 50,000 credits/ton
Amount: 1 ton
Sells in Englene Station for: Please roll 4d6h3+1 to let us know.
After seeing this price, you can choose to sell them in Zyronis with another roll and modifiers, but you will have to take whatever you roll next (there are no further systems) and pay standard freight rates plus a 10% premium, as the CeeVee will go the other way...

What do you do?

Zyronis Second VI (Verdura) has a +1 medical so I would sell my Viridian root extract there if we stop by. If not I'll sell here.
The Drugs, Raw Materials I will sell at Zyronis Prime V (Zyronis) because if the Agricultural +2. (I think I understand all that)

Unfortunately, Verdura is not part of the trip, you will only go through the main planet.

Let's roll for the Extract.

Ok here goes
Viridian root extract
Edit: Nice!
So that's a sale for 60k?

Rolls

Viridian root extract - (4d6h3+1)

(5566) + 1 = 18

75,000 credits!!! I assume you gonna accept that and sell it. So, roll 1d10 for trouble. If you roll 4 or higher, the trade is good and there are no issues ;)

Next, please roll 4d6h3 + 3 to let us know how much they gonna pay you for the Agricultural product at Zyronis.

We will deduct 5,775 credits from that sale of the raw drugs because of the transport of the 50 tons to Zyronis (3 hexes)

Oh mIiscalculated that. (Order of operations).
Yeah that's half the value of the base Drugs.
I will sell at Englene Station.

Edit: Oof

Rolls

Drugs, Raw Materials: Englene Station - (4d6h3+1)

(6251) + 1 = 14

Viridian root extract: Complication - (1D10)

(2) = 2

Drugs, Raw Materials: Complications(if the above does not cover both) - (1D10)

(8) = 8

Dec 21, 2024 9:38 am
So, the complication is that your extract receives a -2 penalty in its roll because the priests require 1d4 Friction worth of inducements to bless the deal.

But I miscalculated the original bonus. Even with the complication, a result of 16 means the Extract sells with 80% bonus for 90,000 credits. The 18 would be a 150% bonus...

Finally, the raw drugs sells for 14,000 in Englene. No complications there. Deducting the 2,060 from the sword and 21,900 from the armor that you bought leaves you with...

75% shares in Therion Provisions Inc. and 80,967 credits
OOC:
Would you like to sell the company in Zyronis? Or is that the end of this side-thread for Mercer?

Rolls

Englene Station complication - (1d4)

(2) = 2

No I want to keep the company shares, that was a fun side thread and a nice "passive income" bonus.

Is a great end score, I have a feeling these credits would be very needed as we start our new trading venture if we get this new ship. Help make ends meet if needed (for a proportional buy-in of ownership).

For the record, I assumed that Mercer and Hank would keep their shares of Therion. Like PhoenixScientist said, it is a nice little "passive income" stream. Plus, if we get the ship, we're not going to be disappearing for a whole year or more, so it's relevance is actually greater now!
