Background
More than five hundred years ago, clans of dwarves and gnomes made an agreement known as the Phandelver’s Pact, by which they would share a rich mine in a wondrous cavern known as Wave Echo Cave. In addition to its mineral wealth, the mine contained great magical power. Human spellcasters allied themselves with the dwarves and gnomes to channel and bind that energy into a great forge (called the Forge of Spells), where magic items could be crafted. Times were good, and the nearby human town of Phandalin (pronounced &/7-duh-lin) prospered as well. But then disaster struck when ores swept through the North and laid waste to all in their path.

A powerful force of ores reinforced by evil mercenary wizards attacked Wave Echo Cave to seize its riches and magic treasures. Human wizards fought alongside their dwarf and gnome allies to defend the Forge of Spells, and the ensuing spell battle destroyed much of the cavern. Few survived the cave-ins and tremors, and the location of Wave Echo Cave was lost.

For centuries, rumors of buried riches have attracted treasure seekers and opportunists to the area around Phandalin, but no one has ever succeeded in locating the lost mine. In recent years, people have resettled the area. Phandalin is now a rough-and-tumble frontier town. More important, the Rockseeker brothers—a trio of dwarves have discovered the entrance to Wave Echo Cave, and they intend to reopen the mines.

Unfortunately for the Rockseekers, they are not the only ones interested in Wave Echo Cave. A mysterious villain known as the Black Spider controls a network of bandit gangs and goblin tribes in the area, and his agents have followed the Rockseekers to their prize. Now the Black
Spider wants Wave Echo Cave for himself, and he is taking steps to make sure no one else knows where it is.

Adventure Hook
You can let players invent their own reasons for visiting Phandalin, or you can use the following adventure hook. The backgrounds and secondary goals on the character sheets also provide characters with motivations for visiting Phandalin.

Meet Me in Phandalin: The characters are in the city of Neverwinter when their dwarf patron and friend, Gundren Rockseeker, hires them to escort a wagon to Phandalin. Gundren has gone ahead with a warrior, Sildar Hallwinter, to attend to business in the town while the characters follow with the supplies. The characters will be paid 10 gp each by the owner of Barthen’s Provisions in Phandalin when they deliver the wagon safely to that trading post.

Location
The adventure is set a short distance from the city of Neverwinter in the Sword Coast region of the Forgotten Realms setting. The Sword Coast is part of the North—a vast realm of free settlements surrounded by wilderness and adventure.

Just starting here and all but thoughts to perhaps GM. Woo. Dangerous word. Just checking if there is interest in that module played in 5e system or not?

Edit: The system isn't letting me create a starting game at this point for some reason but hopefully someone will figure out why. Woot fixed. Bug in the game creation area.

I'm not your target audience, but I come with questions!

- What is the expected posting rate for this game?

- How would you describe your DM style?

- Do you like serious games with funny situations, or funny games that act serious?

- Is this with 5e 2014 or 2024 (5.0 or 5.5)?

- What traits are you looking for in prospective players?

- What books are allowed?

Wow. Cowleyc. You ask a lot of me when you not going to play in it. Strange for sure but I will indulge you some.

I'm a very active DM. I like to work with my RPG many times every day. I would say that my DM style (I like that use rather than GM or ref.) is by rules/guide lines. I like to try to be more expresses in my writing and adding MORE if I can. I tend to look more to keeping the adventure moving forward and less on the side lines.

This is surely 5e and not 5.5. I like to keep to the main core and less of other materials. This is my first DM'ing adventure here.

Having players that don't quit or take extended vacations would be great. And that want to spend the time in their characters and play. I'm fan of fairly rapid play.

Currently, My RPG time have been low & slow, so I hope to pick some of that up. And THANKz so much for asking.

Just to say that Cowleyc's questions are pretty common things we want to know in games here. ;) We even have a recommended format for the recruitment post.

Anyway, D&D isn't my system, so I'm not your target audience either. But I am sure you will have plenty of interested players. Welcome to GP! =)

Yeah, just doing my part! Stoked that you're hosting a game! It's been quiet lately. Wishing you all of the luck!

I'm interested the Lost Mine in 5e. I've never had a chance to play. I'm fine with playing using just the 2014 PHB or with extended rules.
I'll keep an eye out for updates from you about the game.

Well. Xcylla. I'm currently working to create the game. Been having difficulties there with the system but I will overcome. The game site will spell out most of the character info for juicing up your creativity.

I believe the starting works of the game are now viewable. Let's have some fun!

I am interested in the adventure and the role-playing challenge. Thanks for GMing. I am experienced with 5e and unfamiliar with the Lost Mine module.

I agree. Cowleyc was not being hostile or condescending. I would have asked a lot of the same questions. Don't take it as an insult, but as a feedback to improve your recruitment post

People are strange. Cowleyc took it the way I meant it. I don't understand this hostile, condescending, & insulting in your posting runekyndig. Originally post was just checking. So yeah. htech there was no recommended format. I did hence later initiate a game right after that. And no. It isn't in the recommended format. It does however use word for word that the module has. rpgventurer you are fine to apply for the game if that is what you want. Xcylla by Gamers Plane you appear very much as a beginner & I'm looking for more site experienced players.

The first time I saw a link in Gamersplane, the colors (and lack of underlined text) got me confused. I was expecting something like this (not a link)

No concept on the matter htech. I wasn't aware of its existence till you post it. This is my first game on this site.

I am interested to help you run your first game here in GP. While I'm familiar with module I'm able and willing to role-play a PC ignoring my as a player knowledge of the module. (I have positive experience both as player and DM at the table where a player knows module).

My expectations: in game thread I expect DM to answer even more questions, such as weather only spells listed in PHB are available; how will you deal with situation when one player don't post several days, etc. Answers will not impact my interest, but will impact my PC creation process.

I whole heartedly appreciate your offer. I have been DM'ing for decades, but this is my first game here. I have been on other sites that have closed so moving on happens. I would rather have players that just want to play the game.

Hi WanderOne! You'll find that 99% of the people here are super friendly and helpful, and as you get familiar you'll see the especially friendly and helpful ones show up often. I have nothing but good things to say about these folks.

As for myself, I'm interested in playing in your game! I tend to play in just one or two campaigns at a time, so if you'll have me I will be dedicated. D&D is my bread and butter, even met my wife playing it, so I'm all for it.

Well, Araklusta you are in the same boat with rpgventurer and look forward to seeing you applying to the game.

Edit: rpgventurer has been accepted in the game.

okay, I'll stop following the developments

I'm not experienced with Gamers Plane or D&D, but am a great communicator, experienced team member, and skilled writer. I'm in my thirties and have a family, but work a job with the flexibility to guarantee I can post once a day, minimum. I've been hosting tabletop games for nearly 20 years, just not pen and paper RPGs.

I've only been into D&D for a few months but have already hosted a couple game sessions with my family. I'm also happy to stay focused, but will roll with the dice and adapt when needed.
