New thread in subs

Be sure to read and follow the guidelines for our forums.

I have a sub area that I want to put new threads on it.

The "New Threads" option isn't there. The move button doesn't create. And the administration tools only adds to the main and not the subs.

Am I missing something?

You need to enter the subforum to create a new thread within it.
If you click on the subforum name (not in the administrative panel, in the game forums themselves), you should see an empty thread list and a New Thread button above, like with the main forum. This will create a thread within the subforum.

FlyingSucculent. Every single sub that I have beneath the main does NOT have the "New Thread" button available like it is in the main.

Even when you are looking through them? This isn't supposed to happen, so might be a bug. :0
Do you think you can invite me to your game so we can check if I see them, or if it is a global problem? Temporarily, of course. Or ask your players to check?

Edit: it might be possible that you somehow removed thread creation permissions from yourself. Although I never tested that - but maybe check it just in case?

I guess that it must be a bug then. It does preclude me to make trees per say of subs. Trust me the problem does exist, and I feel that inviting you to see it for yourself wouldn't do much. I'm doing my best to post here to somehow get an answer to the delima now that I understand that it is not normal.

Edit: I check the administration area for permissions and says "Create" is available for me.

Oh, I trust you, it just might be a user-specific problem - so it can be good to check if other users have it too.

Here is how inside of a subforum for one of my games looks:

Do you see the same, just no New Thread button? Then it's probably a bug, or a permission issue.

Mine looks the same give or take except there is no "New Thread" red bar. I have multiple subs and each doesn't have that "New Thread" red bar.

In my mind, I really don't probably players to be creating subs in my game. Although the administration panel says they have permission as well as I do to "create".

I think very few of us actually change permissions in our games. Those features belong to the old ways, the dark ways. There may be an ancient magic in them, but they're too tricky for most of us. If you're having issues after changing permissions, that's where I'd start.

I believe that using the administrative tool "Subforms" may be round about allow the creation of subs. I have to work with it to see. Yes. Having the "New Thread" button would be easier. I will post further on success/failure.

Fascinating, I've never seen this issue before. It's almost certainly a bug of some sort, especially if you haven't changed any permissions. If you did, it might have something to do with that - as cowleyc says, these are a bit of a finicky feature and do cause a lot of problem.

Either way, you'll probably need help from either the mods or Keleth to fix this.

PS: And I can't even recreate your issue by removing my own permissions, for whatever reason. :O

I'm going to try going through the process and documenting my steps. Hopefully this will help?

- Click on Administrative Control Panel
- Select the game in question in the left panel
- Type a new subforum into the text box in the right panel
- Click Add
- Click Return to Forum
- Click on the newly created subforum

I see New Thread there, big and red!

After creation of the "Subforums" area in the administration panel. The subs created can create more subs. Strange since the main subs can't. Most importantly I have a solution now. Thanx for the efforts.

Oh, out of curiosity - what happens if you go to the following link?
https://gamersplane.com/forums/newThread/(your subforum ID here)

(The subforum ID is the numbers in its link. Like my subforum is https://gamersplane.com/forums/5128, so https://gamersplane.com/forums/newThread/5128 would create a new thread for it.)

Edit: ah, glad you found a solution! :D

You do not have permission to post in this thread.
