Each of you has seen the poster and has sought out Threeflower. You are directed to a small garden behind the inn, in an otherwise busy town.
Threeflower is a timid gnome dressed in roughspun clothing with elements of moulted feathers and fur harvested from creatures that died
of natural causes.

Oh, h-h-hello there Threeflower begins, his voice a bit timid Am I in your way? No? Sorry. Moo He gestures to his squirrel companion. Moo would like to know if you have any candy
He clears his throat, a bit flustered, and continues.
Well, the thing is, Springarden…it’s usually a very peaceful place, a sacred garden you know… in the heart of the Springwood. That is where Pyrax, my sibling, lives. It's where the Blossom Union, that's my family, and I, we take care of the plants and the people who visit. But, recently, it’s become a bit… chaotic. There’s been a… well, a creature has made its lair in front of the main shrine. It’s usually a destination for pilgrims seeking sanctuary, or just a hot spring, but not anymore.

The squirrel jank the gnome druid's ear. Yes yes yes. When the shrine is safe again, I have plenty of gold coins and magical artifacts for each of you.

You can find the garden by following the road north and then a left where the road splits around a huge bolder. And, well, try not to get into too much trouble out there. Threeflower adds with a nervous smile. He might also mention that there's an annual festival called Feyfest where the boundary between the material and fey planes is weaker. A constellation of five stars overhead is a signal of this event.

You properly have questions?

A dwarf with a hood pulled up over his red hair pulls out a wrapped candy from his pack. As he unwraps it, he says

Ach, have no fear Threeflower. My comrades and I are just the crew for t' job.

He hands the sweet to Moo

There you are Moo. Turns back to Threeflower So, what's yer creature look like?

Yet another person takes off her hooded revealing elf ears and a mess of light blue hairs that seems to live their own life - so electrified the hairs are.

You look just lovely, my dear she speaks to Treeflower in a naive voice and a girl. I would love to hug you, but not everyone enjoy the energy I'm sharing with those close to me. she laughs. I am wondering how it comes you posses all of those fancy toys you called magical artifacts? My mother told me druids only concerned preserving the ecological balance of the world she is obviously quoting her mother with the last words. Dragons collect artifacts and trade for people service she recalls yet another story of her mother told tales.
OOC:
The childish behavior is played. Flash is a wise experienced elf. An elf could afford to look and behave like 14 years old when she is actually older than oldest human, right?

An unusually bald Halfing stands behind the others. He takes a medallion out from under his shirt; on one side is a crescent moon and on the other are the eyes of his Goddess, Selûne, surrounded by 7 stars. He looks between it and the constellation in the sky, counting stars, then nodding when falling short.
OOC:
It seems strange that a Druid would have a problem with a creature in a garden, especially since he hasn't described it doing anything unusual, which seems like the first thing he'd mention. I'd like to do some sort of check to see what I notice, like a Perception check, or, since he's describing a shrine, Religion?
After the other two introduce themselves and have their questions answered, Jeckle pokes his head out from behind Flash and waves at Treeflower. How do, brother Threeflower. Could you tell us more about the Feyfest celebration?

Thank you my good dwarf.

Treeflower nods at Flash
We get them through offerings, trade and gifts. Springgarden is close to the fey world you know. Sometimes things just appear.

It's about the Feyfest, you say? Well, it's usually a very joyous time in Springarden, you see. It's when the barrier between our world, the Material Plane, and the Plane of Fey gets a bit thin, like, uh, a well-worn veil. That's because of the stars, they all line up just so, forming a special constellation.

There's the big, yellow one in the middle, Yorith, and it moves from west to east across the sky. Then there's Nagar, the black star, just above it to the north. Below Yorith, to the south, is Sagin, a fierce red one. To the west is Wiyfa, a shimmering white star, and to the east, there's Bolubos, the pulsing blue one.

I even have them tattooed on my neck. He proudly shows off his tattoo.

The whole garden, Springarden, bursts into a perpetual springtime bloom during this time. It's beautiful, with soft breezes and the scent of new blossoms. Usually, it’s a time for celebration and mischief, you know, with the little fey folk coming over. They're usually very playful, though Moo can be a bit much.

We usually get lots of pilgrims visiting, those that follow nature deities, or those looking for a bit of peace, or even just a soak in the hot springs.

But, um, this year, things are, well, a bit different because of that beast. This a big slow feathered bear creatures came through with all that radiant energy and it's corrupted the festival. It's made everyone aggressive and even burned my sibling, Pyrax, pretty badly.

He hands you a feather. Pyrax was clutching this when he came to us

Ach, you's a tough'n. That tattoo there on your neck must have hurt going on - but it sure shows yer devoti'n!

Anythin' happen leadin' up to ta creatures arrival - anythin' odd, or out of ta ordinary?
OOC:
Feathered bear thing - sounds like an owlbear - a radiant, fey owlbear xD

"Alright. Well, we can speculate all we want, or we can go find out," Anders says, observing the feather.

The man with dark hair and light eyes stands a bit behind the others, his heavy armor reflecting the sunlight as they chat with the gnome about the job he needs help with.

"Not saying we shouldn't plan, but being on site lets us observe directly... and intervene if whatever it is threatens festival-goers."

Flash claps her hands in excitement as fey world are mentioned and more so when fay people are mentioned.
OOC:
after gnome say "bear creatures"
Sorry could you tell me again - were there just one creature or multiple of them? If that creature or creatures are from fey word do you think harming them would be an issue? Where would it otherwise come from?

Flash burst of questions ends and she get silent looking at both Treeflower and companions alike as if asking was it wrong to ask this much questions? he ayes blinking.

While putting two apples at the same time in his mouth, a huge shadow becomes a man as he nears the gnome. Crushing the fruits to mash within heartbeats, a goliath looks down on the gathered group. Build like a proverbial mountain, with a thick muscular neck, broad shoulders and strong, veiny arms the bold warrior seems to sprout moos instead of hair on his bare chest.

Grasping the feather with surprisingly ginger fingers, the giant looks at it and seems to be pondering about whether he had seen something like this before.
And if he knows anything about the Springwood - as Treeflower had called the nearby forest.

They others of the group recognize their comrade Quercus. A warrior at peace with nature and himself.

Quercus doesn't know anything about Springwood that Treeflower hasn't already told them.
OOC:
"An Int-based skill of your choosing DM" I'll pick Investigatigation
He holds the feather by its stem and looks at it in the radiant sunlight. The end of the feather becomes a little warmer

There is allways little people around the shrine. But only the one bear-sized creature. Things got strange after it arrived. People got angrier, and fights between men and beasts started to happen.
OOC:
Any other questions before you travel to the shrine?
Treeflower

Shrugging his mighty shoulders, Quercus passes the feather so that the others can examine it too, if they want to.

He takes two more apples out of a sack and throws them into his mouth, just to crush and swallow them too in a matter of seconds.

Waiting patiently for the others, the Goliath is ready to leave at anytime.

tblue1994 says:

OOC:
Just this - like other than it being this special time of year, did anything lead to the creature showing up?

Otherwise,I'm good to bounce to the shrine and find that Pyrax guy. I bet he knows more

OOC:
@tblue1994 I thought I answered that by telling that "Things got strange after it arrived. People got angrier, and fights between men and beasts started to happen." So nothing before
Feb 10, 2025 10:38 am
So what's the job? Deal with people anger and prevent them fighting beasts ? Or do the fight for them ? Negotiate beast to be gone because this is man's land?

Regardless of an answer Flash agrees with Anders Scarrow - we must go see ourselves and then probably return to quest giver to discuss the preferred (less risky) problem solution approach.

The root of the problem, my dear is the creature. Everything was fine before it came, and now we cant access to the shrine.
And it seriously wounded Pyrax
Treeflower
OOC:
If nothing else, I will move the story forward tomorrow evening about 30 hours from now
Feb 10, 2025 4:49 pm
"So the job is getting rid of the creature," Anders observes. "Peacefully if possible, but ultimately it just needs to be gone. That's what I'm taking from this."

Glancing to the others, he adds, "Let's get going. People are in danger."
Feb 10, 2025 4:54 pm
When we get there, can you show me to Pyrax? I would like to tend to his wounds, if he's agreeable to my care.
OOC:
I'm also happy to get going. I've been reading, but all my questions have been answered, so I haven't felt the need to respond. But I promise, I'm still here :D.

Nods to Anders Aye, let us not tarry

To Jeckle A grand idea. Pyrax aught t' 'ave more details fer us - maybe even an idea on how t' fight the bugger!

I'm sorry, I promised you an update for last night, but we had a long family day and I was knackered when we got home
Treeflower guides you to the the shrine. You turn by the bolder and travel into the heart of Springwood. He relaxes a bit more now when there are trees by his side and leaves overhead.
https://i.imgur.com/On0WK7x.png
The further you travel into the woods, the less heed the plants seem to pay to the season in the rest of the world. The leaves shift from a dry autumn gold, to a deep, rich, summer green, before receding into buds and giving way to thick, pink blossoms.
Tiny, winged creatures leave trails of sparkling dust as they flit from toadstool to dewdrop, disappearing into tree trunks in a shower of sparkles.
A scurry of squirrels plays in the low-hanging bough of a tree. They have more eyes than one might expect and teleport from branch to branch as they chase one another. These are blink squirrels.
As you venture even deeper into the forest you feel calmer, more serine and appreciate how much more brilliant the sunset becomes.

Right, well. My sibling Pyrax, a fire druid, sent one of their flaming balls towards the beast as it snoozed, so they told me. And, well, they say they hit it right on—it wasn’t very agile, see— but it barely scorched it. Just a few blackened feathers. Anyway, once it stepped into the light, the feathers fell out and new ones sprouted to take their place. Pyrax is still in a bad shape after the beast blasted them with that sun ray…
Threeflower sighs, and takes out the feather he showed you.
They had this feather clutched in their hand when they brought them to the infirmary
His voice breaks. His eyes... his eyes... He gathers himself.
I'm sorry... He walks a bit in silence and lead you to the beginning of a stone path.

The sun is setting and you stand at the foot of a stone path leading deeper into the fay touched forest.
That path will lead you to the shrine and the beast
He points to a pavilion in the other direction. I will go see Pyrax. He is in there with the healers. As Treeflower lumbers on, he picks up a box of flyers and have fallen down and puts it back on flat stone where other nicknacks for the festival is placed

Finding the location rather soothing, the goliath sighs and walks blissfully beneath the huge branches of the Springwood.

In his mind an unobtrusive look onto the strange creature that brought so much unrest, would be the next step. But he is not a very stealthy person. And this is why Quercus is hoping for someone to volunteer for this job.

He himself would, of course, stay near and make sure the brave scout wouldn't have to face the "flaming, feathered bear" alone if things turn sour.

Smelling on a blossom, the giant awaits the conclusions his friends are uttering.
